RF Engineer Job

An RF engineer is responsible for optimizing, analyzing and improving the performance of GSM networks through monitoring statistical and drive test data to meet goals, applying propagation theory, cellular theory, RF engineering tools and antenna theory to choose tower antenna placement, and designing wireless systems using GSM including capacity planning and frequency planning through C/I ratio analysis. The role also includes designing sites to improve coverage and fix holes, recommending site upgrades, optimizing existing networks by adjusting radio parameters and recommending solutions to hardware problems, and determining problem sites using performance indicators and drive test data.

RF Engineer Job Job Description: Responsible for optimizing, analyzing and improving performance of GSM network.

Monitor, analyze statistical and drive test data to improve system performance indicators such as dropped calls, blocked calls, origination failures, handoff features and to meet departmental goals. Apply propagation theory, cellular theory, RF

ENGINEERing tools and antenna theory to choose tower antenna placement. Design wireless system using GSM. Responsible for capacity planning, GSM frequency planning and frequency hopping by applying carrier/interference (C/I) ratio analysis. Design sites to improve coverage and fix existing holes. Recommend site upgrade such as down tilling of antenna and re-orientation of radio additions. Optimize existing network by adjusting radio network parameters, adding/deleting of neighbors and recommending possible solutions to hardware problems. Determine problem sites by using network key performance indicators, drive test data and customer complaints. Provide frequency planning for new sites install upgrades. Create Visual Basic scripts to speed up processing of network performance data.

applying propagation theory, cellular theory, RF ENGINEERing tools such as Asset, TEMS, NEMO and antenna theory to choose tower antenna placement; designing wireless system using GSM; and capacity planning, GSM frequency planning and frequency hopping by applying C/I ratio analysis.

1. RF Design RF design consists of the following: Site survey of search areas, selection of suitable site and evaluation. Detailed RF site design including site configuration Site parameter settings Frequency planning Continuing post- launch optimization to ensure optimum level performance level The benefits of RF Optimization service are increased revenues and reduced costs. Network quality resulting in higher speech

quality index. Satisfied customers resulting in low churn Efficient network utilization resulting in reduced investment costs. RF Optimization services includes the following: Study of network performances through OMC Statistics, drive tests and customer feedback. Post-processing and analysis of the performance data to bench mark the network performance against the set quality of service targets and identify eventual problems. Proposing an action plan for solving the problems. The proposed action plan may include parameter changes and/or network configuration changes and/or network Hardware elements changes. In close coordination with the customer, implementing the proposed action plan. Performance Verification to ensure that the optimization process has resulted in network performance improvements such that it meets the set quality of service targets. Site Build up Process The comprehensive site acquisition and installation process helps to deliver high quality and cost effective services to the customers. Based on rollout plan and requirements of respective companies, potential sites are located. Site acquisition teams narrow down the best feasible locations through RF 10

Ill strive to refine my skills and be an expert. After proving myself in all the roles, I adorn, I would like to continue contributing in a challenging environment.
