3. Ramlal (Bholi’s father)

4. Teacher

5. Bishamber (Bridegroom)

[Scene: A room in Ramlal’s house. Bholi is sitting quietly. Ramlal and the Teacher are

talking. Narrator stands aside. Bishamber enters later.]

Narrator:

This is the story of Bholi – a shy, stammering girl whom everyone thought was useless.

But life had different plans for her.

Ramlal:

(Sighs) What will happen to Bholi? She doesn't speak properly... and those pockmarks...

Who will marry her?

Teacher:

Don’t worry, Ramlal ji. Let her come to school. I will teach her. She just needs a little love

and confidence.

Ramlal:

(Thinking) Maybe you’re right. She can’t do housework, at least let her study.

[Bholi slowly stands up and speaks nervously.]

Bholi:

(stammering) I-I will go... to s-s-school...

Narrator:

At school, Bholi met a kind teacher who encouraged her. Slowly, she began to speak

without fear. She started learning and growing.

[Time skip: Years later. The room is decorated for Bholi’s wedding. Bishamber enters

with a greedy look.]

Bishamber:

I’ll marry her... but only if I get 5,000 rupees as dowry. She has pockmarks and stammers!

Ramlal:

(Shocked) What? You agreed before! Please don’t insult us!

[Bholi steps forward, confident and calm.]

Bholi:

Stop, Babuji. I will not marry this greedy man.

Bishamber:

You’re refusing me? A girl like you?

Bholi:

Yes! I may stammer, but I have dignity. I will not marry a man who insults me.
Narrator:

Everyone was shocked. The same Bholi who once cried in corners now stood strong and

proud.

Ramlal:

But... what will you do now, Bholi?

Bholi:

I will teach in the village school, and take care of you and Amma. I don’t need a husband

to live with respect.

Narrator:

And so, Bholi proved that true beauty lies in courage, education, and self-respect.

All (together):

“Educate girls, and they will change the world!”
