The preparation and revision of Electoral Roll is carried out under this
framework of law
Electoral Rolls for Assembly and
Parliamentary Constituency
 Electoral Rolls are prepared for Assembly PC
Constituency (AC) under the provisions of
RP Act 1950
AC AC

 No separate Electoral Roll for Parliamentary


Constituency (PC) is maintained as that PC Parts Parts
consists of Electoral Rolls for all its ACs

Sections
 Electoral Rolls are organized as
geographically defined Parts which are
further organized into Sections and

 Each Part has an identified Polling Station


where electors cast their votes on the poll day Households
Revision of Rolls

Under Section 21, RPA 1950, Electoral Rolls are prepared or revised :

• On the basis of qualifying date i.e. First day of January


• In any year by reference to Qualifying date as directed by ECI.

Publication of Draft ER
• Draft roll will be an integrated roll.
• ERO publishes ER in Draft by making copy available for
inspection and displaying a notice in Form 5 (Rule 10):
- At his office, within the Constituency
- At place specified by him, if his office is outside the
Constituency

Preparation of Final Roll


• Final Roll is the Draft Roll with the lists of supplements
prepared in the prescribed format.
• Supplements have three components:
• Component I – Additions
• Component II – Deletions
• Component III – Corrections
