STYLES IN LIBRE OFF ICE WRITER

AI M : To create an article on Air Pollution in about 200 words and apply styles in Libre Office Writer.
I ns tructi o ns :

▪ Apply an existing Heading style, from Paragraph Styles.


▪ Apply an existing page style
▪ Use Fill Format to change appearance of paragraphs at different places in the document using paragraph
formatting.
▪ Create a custom paragraph style ‘myStyle1
▪ Create a new style ‘myStyle2’’ using drag and drop, by changing line spacing to 1 and font size to
13 in myStyle1.

PROCEDURE

1. Open a new document in Libre Office Writer and type content on Air
Pollution.
2. Add a title ‘Air Pollution’ on top
3. To Apply an existing Heading style

3.1 Select the Tile – Air Pollution


3.2 Open Styles Menu using Sidebar and go to Headings option
3.3 Double click on Heading 4 to apply

4. To Apply an existing page style

4.1 Open Style Menu from side bar and select the Page Styles option

5. To Use Fill Format mode


5.1 Go to Style Menu from sidebar and click on Paragraph Category, and select List Paragraph
from the drop down list
5.2 Click at the beginning of the sentence to be styled using List
Paragraph option
5.3 Now click on Fill button, then continue clicking the sentences to apply the same style.
5.4 Once the style is applied on required sentences then press ‘Esc’
key to disable Fill button
6 To create a custom paragraph style ‘myStyle
6.1 Format the content of the second paragraph with Font face –Arial, Font size 12, and line
spacing 1.5
6.2 Select paragraph button from Style Menu of sidebar
6.3 Select Style Action button

6.4 Click on New Style From Selection. A Create Style dialog box will appear
6.5 Type ‘myStyle’ as style name in the box and click OK.The Style Name (myStyle) will
appear in the drop down list under paragraph category.
7 To create a new style ‘myStyle2’ using drag and drop method
7.1 Format the content of the second paragraph with Font size 13 and line spacing 1.
7.2 Select paragraph button from Style menu of sidebar
7.3Select the text in the second paragraph. Now drag the selected text to Style menu
7.4 Create Style dialog box will appear. Type ‘myStyle2’ as style
name in the box and click OK
8 Save the document with name AirPollution.odt.

RESULT

The article on Air Pollution is created and verified successfully.

DESIG NING A POSTER USING IMAG ES

AI M : Design a poster on Environment Day using Libre Office Writer.

▪ Insert an image using Insert Image dialog box.


▪ Apply the filter ‘Posterise’ on the image
▪ Rotate the image
▪ Crop the sides of the inserted image.

PROCEDURE

1.Open a new document in Libre Office Writer.

2. Place the cursor to the next line of the text to insert the image file, and then click on Insert menu
from the menu bar
3. Click on Image option, opens Insert Image browsing window to select an image. Select desired
image. And click Open button
4. To apply the filter
4.1 image toolbar automatically appears when an image is inserted or selected in the
document. click on the image filter option in the image tool bar.
4.2 Clicking on Image Filter opens up a window with 11 filters.
Click on Posterise filter
5. To rotate the image
5.1 Select image and then click on rotate tool. Observe that four dots known as handles,
appeared on four corners of the image.
5.2 Move the mouse on any corner and observe that the ‘rotate’
symbol is activated.
5.3 Click on rotate symbol on the top right corner of the image and drag it to downward
direction and the image is rotated.
6. To crop the image
6.1 Select the image by clicking on the image.
6.2 Click on crop tool from Image toolbar. Now observe that
the eight small squares surrounding the image will be changed into the
blue coloured handles
6.3 Click any of these edges of the image and drag the cursor
towards the center of image to crop it.
7. Save the document with name poster.odt.

RESULT

DR AWING A FLOWCHART USING SHAPES

AI M : To draw the below flowchart using Libre Office Writer.

▪ Based on the shapes form different groups. Using these group, change the properties as
Parallelogram➔Fill color-light lime , line color – green width- 0.08
Line ➔color - black, Style – Continuous, Arrow heads-small arrow
Diamond➔fill color-light yellow , Line Style- Ultrafine Dotted
Ellipse➔fill color-light blue

PROCEDURE

1.Open a new document in Libre Office Writer.

2. Enable the Drawing toolbar and ensure that it is displayed on the bottom of the document window

3. Select Ellipse tool from the Basic shapes of Drawing toolbar. Place the cursor on the location
where you want to draw the flow chart, and drag it to create a Ellipse.

4. Repeat step 3 to draw 3 parallelograms,1 diamond and 1 Ellipse.

5. Click on each shapes to enter the corresponding text in it.

6.Grouping the shapes

6.1 Select all ellipses in the flow chart. For this click on the first ellipse, Hold the Shift key and
keep on selecting other ellipses to group them.
6.2 Click on Group tool in Drawing Object Properties toolbar. Observe
that all the ellipses are grouped together. Now change the fill color as light Blue.
6.3 Repeat step 6.1 and 6.2 to group other shapes and changing their properties
7. Save the document with name flowchart.odt.

RESULT

The flowchart is created and verified successfull

PROCEDURE

1.Open a new document in Libre Office Writer and type content on cyber crimes
with main heading and sub headings.
2. Assign proper heading styles to the various headings in the document

2.1 Click on the Styles button from the right side bar. Click on the paragraph

Styles and then Headings. The Styles dialog window will display the list of headings
from Heading1 to Heading 10.
2.2 Place the cursor on Heading1 as typed in the document. Then click on the

Heading 1from the Styles dialog window.

2.3 Repeat step 2.1 for remaining headings in the document.

3. To add table of contents

3.1 Place the cursor at the position where the table of contents is to be

inserted.

3.2 From main menu, select

Insert > Table of Contents and Index > Table of Contents, Index or Bibliography.
3.3 The Table of Contents, Index and Bibliography dialog box will

3.4 By default, the Type tab will be selected with a preview of ToC on the right side of
the dialog box. On the left of the dialog box, is the Types and Title section. In the
Title text box, the default name of the ToC, i.e. Table of Contents is displayed. To
change this name, just Type the desired title in the Title text box.

3.5 In the Create Index or Table of Contents List box, the Entire Document option is
selected in the For list box. So the ToC will be automatically created from the headings and sub-headings of
entire document.
3.6 The Outline check box is selected, so the complete outline of the ToC

is shown in the preview. Click and deselect it if you do not want to see

it.

3.7 Click OK button. The Table of Contents will be inserted in the document
4. Add a graphic as the back ground for the table of contents

4.1 Right click anywhere on the ToC and select Edit Index option from the popup menu
4.2 The Table of Contents, Index or Bibliography dialog box will be displayed.
4.3 Click on Background Tab and select the Bitmap button.

4.4 Select the desired graphic option and click OK button

2. Save the document with name TOC.odt.

RESULT

The table of contents is created and verified successfully.

6. Click Save button to save the template with an extension.ott.
