Our profile
We at the “Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components” (PEM) chair of RWTH Aachen University
research and develop product and production innovations that enable the manufacture of electrified
drivetrains and their individual components in a cost-effective and sustainable manner. Together with
our partners from industry and research, we develop solutions for the mobility of the future – from the
initial idea to industrial application.
Research group “Battery Engineering & Safety” (BES)
PEM’s research group “Battery Engineering & Safety” contributes to high-performance, safe,
sustainable, and economical battery cells and systems of the future. From the implementation of
strategic consulting projects to the investigation of specific, technical issues – both constructively and
simulatively as well as operationally with prototypes in the laboratory –, the team is dedicated to almost
every topic related to the battery cell and battery system product.
The environment
You will work closely with executives and employees of leading OEMs, automotive suppliers, machine
and plant manufacturers as well as with other renowned industrial partners in multiple, challenging
subject areas. The scientific work together with other research institutions enables you to pursue your
own dissertation topic and to regularly publish your own work results. The combination of methodical
work with an eye for the big picture and “technical deep drilling” offers our employees a unique
environment for personal and professional development.
Your profile
You have a successfully completed university degree (Master or comparable) in the technical
field (e.g. mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering).
Ideally, you have already gained some practical experience in the field of consulting,
development, production or electric mobility.
You have the self-demand to develop new topics and you use creative freedom.
You work in a structured and binding manner, you think creatively and pragmatically, you are
curious and motivated to always learn something new.
You have a high willingness to travel and you are flexible.
You speak and write German and English fluently.

Your tasks
You play a decisive role in shaping projects with industry partners from acquisition through
planning to execution (e.g. in product development, prototyping, and testing as well as strategy
development in the field of electric mobility).
You investigate exciting issues in the fields of “battery development and safety” as well as
“innovative battery technologies and product architectures of the future”.
You develop prototypes and new monitoring as well as test procedures within the framework of
research and industrial projects.
You supervise students in their final theses and you conduct courses.
You are given budget and management responsibility at an early stage and you can shape topics
on your own responsibility.

Our offer
The position will be filled on an employee basis. The position is to be filled as soon as possible and is
limited to three years. An extension of at least one year is planned. The temporary employment takes
place within the framework of the fixed-term possibilities of the “Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz”. The
position is full-time. There is the possibility of a doctorate. The grading is based on the TV-L. The position
is rated EG 13 TV-L.
