The Ellio

My nephew lost his warm chunky hat while visi ng us in Tahoe. I came up with this to keep him toasty
warm. It’s a very quick knit and so cozy warm.

Yarn/Needles
1 Skein Malabrigo – Rasta or any other equivalent chunky yarn
Size 11 – 16 inch long, DPN’s as needed for decrease

Abbrevia ons
K – knit
P – Purl
K2tog – Knit 2 together
P2tog – Purl 2 together

The Pa ern
Cast on 60 s tches – I like a long tail cast-on for the stretchiness. Join to knit in the round.
Work in K1, P1 rib un l piece is approximately 4 inches long.
*P2, K3, P2, K3, P2, repeat from * 4 more mes to end of row

Repeat row un l piece measures approximately 8 inches. If you want to fold the brim up, con nue
pa ern un l piece measures approximately 10 inches.

Begin decrease rows


Row 1 - *P2, K1, K2tog, P2, K1, K2tog, P2 tog, repeat from * to end
Row 2 - *P2, K2, P2, K2, P1, repeat from * to end
Row 3 - *P2tog, K2tog, p2, K1, P1, repeat from * to end
Row 4 - *P1, K1, P2, K1, P1, repeat from * to end
Row 5 - *K2tog, P2tog, K2tog, repeat from * to end
Row 6 - *K1, P1, K1, repeat from *to end
Row 7 - *K2tog, P, repeat from *to end
Row 8 – K2tog, repeat to end

Thread yarn through remaining s tches and pull ght to close top of hat. Weave in ends.
