WORST SONG OF THE YEAR

OBJECTIVES
 Analyze songs with politically incorrect messages.
 Use agreement and disagreement expressions.
 Use logical connectors such as, because, therefore, since, so, thus, etc.
 Support your ideas with anecdotes, examples, studies or statistics.
ROLES
 3 judges: they are in charge of assessing each of the songs nominated. They must
also explain / introduce the criteria used to evaluate each of the songs.
 1 Host, this person is responsible for opening and wrapping up the show. This
person must also introduce the songs and ask judges the criteria that they will use
to assess each song.
 1 winning artist, this person will be interviewed by a reporter who will ask him key
questions on the winning song and its message.
 1 interviewer, this person will interview the winning artist and a famous music.
 1 music producer will speak about the industry of music nowadays.
 1 concerned citizen / parent, this person will raise his / her voice to make people
aware of the offensive lyrics and negative messages in modern songs.
STAGES OF THE WORK
STAGE ONE
During this stage, the host will introduce the show and its main objective; additionally,
during this section, the host will introduce the judges and will talk a bit about their
background in music.
STAGE TWO
During this stage the host will ask the judges to explain the criteria used to assess each
song, they will also explain the way they will score songs; after that, the host will
introduce the nominated songs, giving a short introduction of each song before playing
it. In the end of each song, judges will give their verdict and the reasons for the score
assigned to each song.
STAGE THREE
During stage three, the reporter will interview the music producer, asking him about the
future of the industry, its current issues, and a probable winning song.
STAGE FOUR.
During this stage, judges will present the winning song, after that, the winning artist will
be interviewed. In this stage, the concerned parent / citizen will interrupt the interview,
trying to catch the others’ attention, for this reason s/he will be interviewed as well and
there’ll be a short debate between this person and the winning artist.
STAGE FIVE
The host wraps up the ceremony.
