I think I am an optimist because I usually believe that good things will happen, even in difficult

can study better and improve next time. I also try to see problems as opportunities to learn
something new.

Last night I had a strange dream. I dreamed that I was travelling to Japan with my best friends. We

Unit 4. From rags to riches

Yes, once I went to school and saw my friend wearing exactly the same T-shirt as me. We both
laughed and decided to take a photo together. It was a funny moment.

electric fan. Without them, I would spend much more time on housework.
5. Do you have more or less free time than a year a go? Why? What don’t you have enough time for?

Yes, there is a street in my town that is dangerous at night because it’s very dark and there are few
people around. I always avoid going there alone.

I have tried to learn dancing before, but I wasn’t very good at it. I have also tried Italian food like
pizza, pasta, and tiramisu. I really liked it.
Unit 6. If something bad can happen, it will
1. What would you do if you saw a mouse in your bedroom?
If I saw a mouse in my bedroom, I would probably scream and run away. Then, I would ask someone
in my family to help me catch it or chase it out.
2. What would you do if your friends asked you to look after their pet?
If my friends asked me to look after their pet, I would agree if it was easy to take care of, like a fish or

about small things.

In my country, the education system is getting better because more schools have modern equipment.
However, pollution is getting worse due to traffic and factories.
Unit 7. Famous fears and phobias
1. Are you afraid of heights/ flying/ snakes/ closed spaces/ wasps/ cockroaches ?
Yes, I am quite afraid of cockroaches and snakes. Whenever I see a cockroach running on the
floor, I feel very uncomfortable and try to avoid it immediately. Snakes are even scarier because
they are dangerous and sometimes poisonous. On the other hand, I am not really afraid of
heights or flying because I think airplanes are safe and I enjoy seeing the view from above.
2. Have you ever been stung by a bee?
Yes, I was stung by a bee when I was a child. It happened while I was playing in the garden near some flowers.
The pain was very sharp, and my hand became swollen for a few hours. Since then, I have been more careful
when I see bees, but I still like watching them from a safe distance because they are important for nature.
3. Are your food cooked mainly by your mom ?
Yes, most of the meals in my family are cooked by my mom. She is very good at cooking traditional
Vietnamese dishes like phở, canh chua, and fried spring rolls. Sometimes my dad also helps, especially on
weekends, but my mom is the one who prepares food every day. I also try to learn some easy recipes from
her because I think cooking is a useful skill for the future.
4. How long have you have your hair cut ?
I usually cut my hair every two or three months. The last time I had my hair cut was about three weeks ago. I
like keeping my hair short because it looks tidy and easier to take care of, especially in the hot weather.
5. How long have you have your motorbike serviced ?
I don’t ride a motorbike yet because I am still a student, but my father has one. He usually takes it for service
every three or four months to check the brakes, oil, and tires. He says it is important to maintain the
motorbike regularly so it will be safe and last longer.
6. Were you snapped or kicked by anyone in your childhood?
Not really. When I was a child, sometimes I argued or fought with my cousins while playing, but it was never
very serious. My parents always taught me to solve problems by talking instead of fighting, so I didn’t
experience much violence in my childhood.
7. Do you think that in the future bank notes will be replaced by virtual money ?
Yes, I think so. Nowadays, many people already use online banking and e-wallets like Momo or ZaloPay in
Vietnam. It is faster and more convenient than carrying cash, and it also reduces the risk of losing money.
However, I think cash will not disappear completely very soon because many older people still prefer using
bank notes.
8. Which sports are played most in Vietnam ?
The most popular sport in Vietnam is definitely football. Almost everyone watches football matches,
especially when the Vietnamese national team plays. Apart from football, other sports like badminton,

because they don’t need too much equipment.
Unit 8. I hate weekends !
1. Do you normally have to work or study at weekends ?
Yes, I usually have to study at weekends. On Saturday mornings, I often go to extra classes such as
English or Math to improve my knowledge. Sometimes I also have homework or group projects to
finish. Even though I want to relax, I still spend some time studying because I think weekends are a
good chance to catch up on what I missed during the week.
2. Did you go anywhere exciting last weekends?
Last weekend, I went to the cinema with my friends. We watched a new movie, and it was really
funny and interesting. After that, we ate ice cream together and walked around the shopping mall. It
wasn’t a big trip, but I felt very happy because I could spend time with my friends and relax after a
busy week of studying.
3. How much fast food ( processed and pre-prepared) do you eat?
I don’t eat too much fast food, but maybe once or twice a week. Sometimes when I am too busy with
school, I buy a burger or fried chicken because it is quick and easy. However, I know that fast food is
not healthy, so I try to eat more home-cooked meals with rice, vegetables, and fish. I think it’s
important to have a balanced diet.
4. How would you describe yourself mentally ?
I think I am a positive and calm person. When I face problems, I try not to panic but to think carefully and
find a solution. Sometimes I feel stressed because of schoolwork, but I usually motivate myself by
listening to music or talking with friends. I believe that being optimistic helps me to stay strong in difficult
situations.
5. How much time do you have for yourself ?
Honestly, I don’t have a lot of free time because my school schedule is quite busy. Most of my day is
filled with classes, homework, and extra activities. But in the evening, I usually spend about one or
two hours for myself. I often use this time to watch movies, read books, or just relax. Even though it
is not much, it helps me recharge my energy for the next day.
