Section 1 : Reading

All about Kangaroos

Kangaroos live in Australia. They are known for their powerful hind legs,
large feet, and long tails. Kangaroos use their strong legs to hop, which is
their main way of moving. Their tails help them balance while hopping
and can also be used for support when sitting.
How to look after the babies:
Female kangaroos have a pouch on their belly where they carry and
nurse their young, called joeys. A newborn joey is tiny and undeveloped,
about the size of a jellybean. It crawls into its mother's pouch to continue
growing and stays there for several months before venturing out.
Diet:
Kangaroos are herbivores, meaning they eat only plants. Their diet mainly
consists of grasses and leaves. They are most active during the early
morning and late afternoon, resting in the shade during the hottest parts
of the day.
Protection:
Kangaroos live in groups called mobs. Living in a mob helps protect them
from predators, such as dingoes. If a kangaroo senses danger, it may
thump its foot on the ground to warn the others. I believe they are an
amazing animals.
