2. I. The phrase ‘The interests, food, habits, slang, entertainment, and way of thinking of the younger generation differ from those
of the older generation’ emphasises the significant cultural and behavioural differences between the two generations,
indicating that change is a natural part of progress.
II. (b) The differences in values and perceptions of the two generations create conflicts.
III. The writer supports this idea by explaining:
           1. Parents often fail to communicate openly with their children, which makes the children feel mentally isolated.
           2. When parents are too busy or authoritarian, it reduces the opportunity for meaningful conversations, deepening the
              generation gap.
IV. The concept of ‘technology’s role in increasing the generation gap’ is reflected by the idea that children spend most of their

              communication with parents.

3. The pie charts illustrate the ages of people employed in the UK public sector for two years, 2015 and 2020. Overall, while the
percentage of those employed in their 20s and 40s increased, employment for other ages groups, particularly the over 50s, fell.
Turning first to the younger age groups, although the employment of workers under 21 actually fell from 14% in 2015 to 12% in
2020, the overall number of workers under 30 actually rose because of the surge in the employment of 21-30-year-olds, which
increased significantly from 23% to 33%. Similarly, the number of employees over the age of 40 climbed from 19% in 2015 to
     28% by 2020.
However, other groups saw quite significant falls in employment. For 31-40-year-olds, the employment figure plummeted from
21% in 2015 to just 11% by 2020, which represented a substantial drop of more than 50% in relative terms. Likewise, the
employment of over 50s declined, though not by quite so much, standing at 23% in 2015 and 16% in 2020.

the gap narrows, with men at 90% and women at 88%, indicating improved educational access for young women. For the 25-64
years age group, men’s literacy remains stable at 88%, but women’s literacy drops to 79%, reflecting historical gender disparities
in education. Among those 65 years and older, literacy rates decline for both genders, with men at 80% and women at 75%,

Subject: The Role of Media in Promoting National Integration
     Sir,
I am writing to share my thoughts on the pivotal role of media in promoting national integration. As a recent participant in a
school project on this subject, I've come to realize the profound influence media wields in shaping our perceptions and fostering
     unity.
Media platforms, be it television, newspapers, or social media, have the power to bridge cultural, regional, and linguistic gaps.
They serve as a platform for showcasing the diverse cultural tapestry of our nation, thus encouraging inclusivity. Moreover,
responsible journalism can educate citizens about the customs, traditions, and challenges faced by different regions, nurturing
     empathy and understanding.
In a time when divisiveness sometimes takes center stage, the media can be a unifying force by highlighting stories of solidarity
and national pride. It is crucial for media outlets to continue this positive endeavour, as it plays a key role in nurturing a strong,
     united, and harmonious India.
     Yours sincerely,
     Anita/Anil

27. a. The baker or the pader used to be an essential part of the Goans' life. With the passage of time, the bakers continued their

That day, I read the poem 'Fire and Ice' in one of my events. The reaction of the audience to it was spectacular. Given to the
history of South Africa and its recent troubles, the poem actually reflects are sufferings of the black people. The Africans have
been treated terribly by the ruling governments. It would take many years to recover from that profound hurt. The racial
discrimination unleashed a reign of terror, oppression and brutality on us. We needed freedom from the white people and their
tyranny. Hope the efforts of my people will change the entire dynamic of Africa.
