Sundry (adj): various or assorted
Solace (noun): comfort in a time of distress
Lamentable (adj): of circumstances that are bad and deplorable and therefore leading to
regret
Melancholy (adj): a feeling of sadness; gloomy; downhearted
Countenance (noun): one’s appearance, especially of the face

Copious (adj): in large amounts; abundant
Abhor (verb): to regard with disgust and hatred
Parochial (adj): relating to a church parish; OR having a limited or narrow outlook
(narrow-minded)
Ingratiating (adj): intending to gain approval by fawning (being overly nice with the intent
to gain something in return)
Corroborate (verb): to confirm

Calumny (noun): false and defamatory statements
Prodigious (adj): remarkably impressively great in extent, size or degree
Deposition (noun): a testimony taken down in writing under oath
Beguile (verb): to charm or enchant someone, usually in a deceptive way
