Biome Project
Introduction
You will be given a biome to research in class. The information collected will
be used to create a pamphlet, website, or poster that describes the biome.
Think about what makes your biome unique and the types of plants and
animals that live there as well as dominate weather patterns. As you gather
information about the biome, take notes and think about how you can
organize this information and put it into your own words. Your final project will
need to include references to material you included. Pictures are encouraged
to make your presentation interesting to your audience, which is your
classmates.
Biomes
taiga (coniferous forest)
temperate deciduous forest
tropical rainforest
tundra
desert
temperate grassland or prairie savannah (also listed as grasslands on some
sites)
freshwater (lakes, rivers, or streams)
ocean
Projects / Presentations
Use any of the following formats, check with your instructor for additional
instructions or information: If you have another idea for your project, check
with your instructor.
1. A flyer that you can hand out to the class (ask your teacher to make copies)
or use a publisher program to make the pamphlets. Canva.com has tri-fold
pamphlet creators.
2. A web page (poster). http://poster.4teachers.org/ is an online service that
makes it easy to make web posters and publish them online. Teachers will
need to sign up for this service or use a comparable service.
3. Make a real poster on posterboard. Make a self standing project board that
has pictures and information about your biome.
4. Make a digital poster or infographic using Piktochart
5. Create a website on weebly.com with a game

Its bark and leaves both possess analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. The bark
of the Banyan tree is considered useful in burning sensation, ulcers, and painful skin
diseases.
Its aerial roots help it survive in a warm and moist environment as well as provide the

-Most tropical plants live in the rainforest climate, which is characterized by
high temperatures, strong sunshine, and high humidity with an average
annual rainfall of 2000 to 2500 millimeters without a wet or dry season. The
tropical plants that grow here are often evergreen, broad-leaved trees that
are always green.
-Rainforests are one of the oldest ecosystems on Earth. New mountains have
risen, retreated, advanced on land of oceans, and the planet's climate has
changed, but for nearly 100 million years there have been vast wet areas
that have been here for centuries. These forests have the greatest biological
diversity. The main reason for the richness of nature is the temperature and
humidity, which are the most suitable for life. That's why most of the trees
have abundant leaves and height.
-Rainforests are dense jungles in tropical climates centered on and around
the equator.tropical climate regions centered on and around the equator.
The word rainforest refers to a thicket of vegetation that forms in areas of
high rainfall. A rainforest is a bush that forms in a rainy area, while a tropical
rainforest is a bush that forms in a tropical climate region due to a lot of rain.
Rainforests are the characteristic vegetation of the tropical monsoon and
tropical rainforest climates, which are characterized by strong, year-round
sunlight (insolation) and sufficient precipitation in the equatorial regions of
the world. In particular, the size and diversity of the trees that make up the
forest is unparalleled by any other forest. Many trees can reach heights of 60
meters or more. This is due to the wide variety of trees competing for
sunlight in an environment that is conducive to plant growth. Rainforests are
composed of several layers: the overstory, which receives the most sunlight,
followed by trees of medium height, and the understory, which is 5 to 15
meters above the ground. At the surface, little sunlight reaches the ground,
where vines, shrubs, and small trees grow. Hundreds of plant species grow
intermixed, so diversity is very high, and oxygen production is high.
Menara: These trees often grow in areas inhabited by endangered animals
and protect endangered orangutans, clouded leopards, and forest elephants.
These trees are mini biodiversity hotspots, home to up to 1,000 species of
insects, fungi, and other plants.

Boa constrictor: https://www.britannica.com/animal/boa-constrictor
-The boa constrictor is adapted to life in the rainforest through its
camouflage. The boa constrictor is usually a tan, gray, or cream-colored
snake with saddle-shaped patches of dark brown or reddish-brown along its
body. This helps the boa constrictor blend in with the ground foliage of its
environment.
Tiger: https://www.britannica.com/animal/tiger
-The tiger's adaptations of having nocturnal habits, striped camouflage,
excellent vision and hearing, sharp teeth and claws, a flexible spine and the
ability to quietly and quickly pounce on a predator are the tiger's biggest
advantages to remaining alive on our planet.

panther#:~:text=They%20have%20strong%20and%20flexible,an
%20individual%20species%20of%20cat.
-Black Panthers have a coat of fur that is pitch black. It camouflages them
into the night sky so they can be more stealthy when trying to catch their
prey. it is also beneficial since they live in dimly light forests. They could also
use this if they are trying to get away from their predators.
● Global warming -> stop photosynthesis -> reduce plants -> habits for
animals disappear. -> destroyed forest
● Forests are burned and cleared to create ranches, palm oil, and
soybean farms.
● Deforestation and fires increase greenhouse gas emissions
