IV. PROCEDURES
Activity: “What’s in the Meme?” Introduction
Present 1–2 meme images from the student worksheet
Ask students:
What message does this image try to convey?
A. Engage
Do you think this is a responsible use of media? Why
or why not?
Brief discussion to activate prior knowledge on media use and
satire.
B. Explore Activity: Meme Analysis Group Work
In pairs or small groups, students analyze another meme from
the worksheet.
They will fill in the guided table:

Encourage use of critical thinking and media literacy concepts
Mini-lecture using PPT slides
Define key terms: responsible media use, fake

B. Explain Discuss real-life examples, such as the case of the
photography plagiarism incident.
Emphasize the values of intellectual honesty, ethical
sharing, and fact-checking.
Activity: “Make Your Model”
In small groups, students will design a simple communication
model that promotes responsible media use.
C. Elaborate Questions:
1. How does your model address issues in media
literacy?
2. How does it reflect your understanding of
communication?
3. What makes it unique or similar to others?
Formative Assessment Options:
Group presentation of models (1–2 minutes each).
D. Evaluate Use the rubric from the worksheet for evaluating meme analysis.
Exit Ticket: Ask students to write one thing they will start, stop,
and continue doing as a media consumer and creator (based on
the “Stoplight” approach in the PPT).
V. ASSIGNMENT Title: "Media Detective: Tracking Down the Truth"
Objective:
To apply critical thinking and media literacy skills by evaluating
real-world media content for responsibility, accuracy, and ethics.
Instructions:
1. Find a Post or Article
Choose one of the following:
A viral meme or social media post
(Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
A recent news article or blog post
Take a screenshot or paste the link.
2. Analyze the Media
In 300–500 words, answer the following:
What is the main message of the
post/article?
What issue or event is being talked about?
Is this a responsible use of media? Why or
why not?
Are there any signs of bias, misinformation,
or stereotypes?
How does the post affect the audience’s
opinion or behavior?
3. Give a Recommendation
Suggest how the media content could be
improved to become more truthful, ethical,
or responsible.
