Introduction
MS-DOS comes pre-installed on the PowerStation. If for some reason you need to reinstall MS-DOS, you can do so using the MS-DOS 6.22 and Utilities Installation disk (KA-72953) that was shipped with your PowerStation. This disk automatically installs the MS-DOS system files and utilities to a formatted flash drive or hard drive. This document provides instructions for installing or reinstalling MS-DOS to a CTC PowerStation with a hard drive or a Compact Flash card.

Hard Drive Instructions

The Hard Drive instructions describe how to install MS-DOS system files and utilities to a hard drive. Follow these steps if your PowerStation supports a hard drive. To install MS-DOS to the hard drive, complete the following steps: 1. Insert the MS-DOS 6.22 and Utilities Installation disk (KA-72953) into the floppy drive of your PowerStation. 2. At the DOS prompt, type a: and then press Enter. You will now be at the root directory of drive A. 3. Type install a: c: and then press Enter. The following message appears:
You are about to install MS-DOS 6.22 on destination drive C.

4. Press Y if the destination drive is correct. The install program will copy the MS-DOS system files to your hard drive. When the install program is finished copying the system files, the following message appears:
Do you want to install all the MS-DOS utilities? Select Y to do a typical installation of the mostused MS-DOS utilities, which uses about 800 Kbytes of disk space. Select N to do a minimal install of only a few MS-DOS utilities.

MS-DOS Installation complete.

Compact Flash Instructions

The Compact Flash instructions describe how to install MS-DOS system files and utilities to a formatted Compact Flash card. Follow these steps if your PowerStation supports a Compact Flash card. To install MS-DOS to the Compact Flash, complete the following steps: 1. Turn off the PowerStation.
Important Make sure the PowerStation is turned off when inserting or removing the Compact Flash card.

2. Remove the flash card from the PowerStations flash card slot. 3. Insert the Compact Flash card into a Type II PCMCIA slot on your PC, using the Compact Flash-to-PCMCIA adapter. The PCMCIA drivers should recognize and configure the card as an ATA card, assigning an additional drive letter for the card (e.g., D:).
Note In this example, drive D represents the PCMCIA card; however, your system may assign a different drive letter to the PCMCIA card.

4. Insert the MS-DOS 6.22 and Utilities Installation disk (KA-72953) into the floppy drive of your PC. 5. Restart your PC so that you boot from drive A.
