PATTERN
The Sophie Scarf is worked back and forth in one piece, from tip to tip in garter stitch with built-in i-cord
edges. The smaller size Sophie Scarf reaches around the neck once, while the larger size can wrap around
the neck twice.
About increases and decreases
Increases (kfb) and decreases (skp) are worked as follows (see video on www.petiteknit.com):
Kfb: Knit front and back; first knit into the front and then the back of the same stitch before dropping it
from the left hand needle
Skp: Slip 1 stitch knit-wise, k1, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch.
About changing yarn
If you need to change yarns while knitting, break the yarn and join the new yarn when there are 3 sts left on
the needle. Carefully weave in the ends along the i-cord edge, weaving one end in in each direction. This
gives the neatest result.
Tip for using up your yarn
If you would like to knit a Sophie Scarf in a yarn that you have a limited amount of (meaning if you have less
yarn than the amount given on front page of the pattern), start by weighing the yarn to make sure you have
enough. Work increases until you have used up half of the yarn, then work decreases with the rest of the
yarn. Example: You have exactly 25 g of cashmere and want to use it all up. Work the increases for the scarf
as the pattern describes until you have 13 g of yarn left, then work decreases as the pattern dictates.
