F Choose the correct option.

How to Improve Well-being in the Workplace

Well-being in the workplace 1) needn't/shouldn't be a perk any more, but a top priority. It is widely believed that
one third of people's lives is spent at work. From the stress of long hours, tight deadlines and too much screen time
to difficult colleagues and even financial problems, all of this 2) can/should have a bad physical and mental effect
on them. Employee well-being must 3) take/be taken seriously; if the staff are happy and satisfied with their
current job, then they will maximise their performance and productivity, developing a career at a company.
So how is this possible? A good employer 4) may/needs to create a positive work environment where employees
feel safe, secure and accepted by their colleagues and managers. Research has shown that employees who are
supported by their managers are 5) likely/obliged to stay in their jobs, working towards the company mission and
vision.
Another way to improve wellness and de-stress employees is by encouraging them to take more breaks. A short
walk during lunch break, a good stretch from time to time or eating a healthy snack 6) had to/could help
employees return to work refreshed.
Last but not least, employers 7) ought/should to show that they care about their employees. They
8) mightn't/mustn't be seen as simply workers, but as individuals who need help and guidance to find a purpose
in the workplace. After all, it's clear that well-being in the workplace is very important. It affects employees,
productivity, profits and, above all, the company's success.

I Read the text and for questions (1-4) choose the best answer, (A, B, C or D).

The past and future of live streaming

Live streaming has become just one more entertainment feature of technology.
But how did it start, and what does the future hold?

The 2020 pandemic led to a lot of technological adjustments in a very short period of time, particularly in the world
of entertainment. Today, live streaming a concert, a celebrity interview, a sports match or even an opera is as easy
as touching a screen. But did you know that the early days of live streaming weren’t just a few years ago, but rather
back in the 1990s? Some may find it hard to believe, but it’s true! The first live-streamed performance was
broadcast when the Internet was still very new in 1993. That was just the first of many which have led to where we
are today – nearly every event can be live streamed instantaneously. But how does live streaming work?

Some people argue that live streaming is no different than the traditional live television broadcasts we’ve been
watching for decades, but there are some key elements that set the two apart. While the technology that allows
both live broadcasts and live streams to occur is similar, the experience had by the viewers is where the main
differences lie. For instance, live television broadcasts of sporting events or concerts were designed for large
audiences to watch passively. Live streams, on the other hand, are meant to feel personal to the viewer and they
are fully immersed in the action.

Another difference between television broadcasts and live streaming is the amount of equipment and number of
people involved. Unlike the expensive cameras and lights – and their operators – which are necessary for live
television broadcasts, all you need to live stream is a device that can connect to the Internet and a platform. A
platform is something that can host the live-streamed video, such as a search engine, an app or even a social
media page. You might think it was more difficult to live stream when the technology first became available, but
even though devices and platforms were more complicated in those days, the basic systems that allow for live
streaming haven’t changed much at all.

This isn’t to say that live streaming doesn’t have challenges. For one, the speed and the bandwidth of the
connection are very important factors to consider since it takes a lot of bandwidth to live stream an entire event.
Bandwidth is the amount of data being transported, and the speed is how fast that data is being transported. If the
Internet provider can’t handle the data, the viewers’ experience may be hampered by delays, quality issues and
other problems. Viewers don’t mind these issues if they are watching a live event for free, but if they’ve paid for
tickets, they expect a certain level of quality. Speaking of tickets, live streaming may affect the cost of seeing live
performances in the future. While live streaming means reaching a larger audience, it could also mean fewer
people will be willing to pay to see these events in stadiums, halls and theatres.

What does the future of live streaming hold? While it is unlikely that it will ever be able to replicate the thrill of
experiencing a live performance, many companies have discovered that it is financially beneficial to offer more
viewing options. It is likely that this will continue in the coming years well beyond the effects of the pandemic.
Performing artists have seen the power of live streaming and how it has expanded their reach and, as a result, their
popularity, and their fans will continue to be delighted to be able to see them perform from the comfort of their own
home.
