If for some reason your artwork is not ready for print or press ready there will be various set up charges. This is due to the fact that it takes time to perform the neccessary operations/procedures to get a file print ready. Logo retracing and conceptualisation can be done (Please see Service Charges). Please refrain from submitting any hand written material. Information that is to appear on your business card must be neatly and legibally typed and sent via email. You, the client, if artwork is provided to us, are 100% responsible for the accuracy of your layouts. Please proof-read all layout proofs carefully before submitting artwork in PDF format. Any other formats that are supplied will need to be converted and you will be charged for this process. (See Service Charges). Media-Works will reproduce colour from submitted layouts, files, scans or photos as closely as possible, but cannot exactly match colour and density. The accuracy of each colour reproduction is guaranteed to be within 85-90% of the original image you submitted. We accept no responsibility for colour variations between submitted images and the actual final artwork or end product they represent. Please note that the the colour you see on your screen or what you print out on your printer at home or at he office have NOTHING to do with how it will come out on press. They use RGB colour space and we print in a CMYK colour space. Dimensions: Your document size should be the exact trim size plus a 2 mm bleed. (eg: If a finished, cut business card is 90mm x 54mm, then artwork must be supplied on a 92mm x 56mm document.) Even if the file has no bleed with white edges the bleed must be included. There should not be more canvas size than is required. Safe Area: The safe area is exactly 3mm inside of the trim area. This is essential for avoiding any information from being cut in the trimming process.

pg 2 of 5 Colour: Please make sure all artwork is started and finished in CMYK to avoid any colour shifting. No pantones, spot colours or RGB. Check your values carefully before submitting any artwork. Certain colours may look different on your computer screen in comparison to the final printed product. Rich black: Over saturation of black can lead to many complications on your order when using UV spot printing. A suggestion of using a Printers Black is highly recommended to avoid any splothing or peeling of the UV spot. Cyan = 40% Magenta = 30% Yellow = 20% Black = 100%

Borders: Borders are accepted, but please be aware that if the border is too close to the trim line it may be cut off.
Overprint: Please ensure that overprint is turned off. This may cause unexpected results on the final product.
Gloss and Matt Lamination: Orders on Gloss and Matt Lamination may cause artwork to be slightly darker or greyer. We advise colour to lightened by 10% - 15% before being submitted. However, there is NO guarantee that your colours will turn out correctly.
UV spot requirements: When creating a UV mask, a seperate file must be included. This file must be 100% black and white. No other colours, gradients or shading. The black will represent where the UV mask will be on the original artwork, almost like a template.

pg 3 of 5 Add on Services: This includes Scoring, Folding, Perforation etc. We do not recommend using multiple Add on Services. This puts too much stress on the paper. Imperfections may start appear. PLease consider this when creating your artwork.
Foiling & Embossing: When creating a foil or embossing mask you must supply a seperate file along with your original artwork. This file must be 100% black. No other colours, gradients or shading. The black will represent where the foil or embossing will be, almost like a template. Foiling and embossing can only be done on one side. Please keep art simple due to paper shifting. All foiling and embossing must be done in the safe area and cannot bleed over the edges or trim line. Font sizes under 10 pts are not recommended.

Perforation requirements: A perforation is a series of small holes done on a sheet of paper so that it can tear easily. You may have one perforation done on any one product. Once again, please supply a seperate JPEG file with instructions.
Folding requirements: All folds may come standard with your printing requirements. Please allow for a 3mm shift for the folding process. All artwork should be within the safe area between each panel that is folded. Please ensure that orientation is correct before submitting artwork with a fold. A seperate JPEG file must be submitted with the folding instructions. Please follow sample below.

Score for fold
Scoring requirements: A score is a crease made in the paper to avoid cracking of the fold. Once again, please ensure that no artwork is running over the crease or fold, please adhere to the safe area. The score can not be done in more than one direction (only horizontal or vertical.) If you implement more than one score, they must be parallel to each other. Please do not supply instructions on the artwork, supply on a seperate file in JPEG format.

If printing a double sided, folded business card, please check that orientation of your business card is correct. Printing is done on work and turn and there is a possibilty of the inside of your card being upside down if layout is not correct.
