AUDITOR GENERALS REPORT
The Auditor Generals report contains more than 300 recommendations this year. His work is very useful for Councillors as it delves into issues and makes very clear recommendations. Most of these are already being implemented and I was glad to see that he reported on positive progress from last years report on surface operations. This week we have had public delegations on the report, which will then be discussed at next weeks Council Meeting. The report is available at ottawa.ca for your review. Id appreciate hearing any suggestions from you on the report and on how we should go about implementing it.
WHITE PAPER ON THE GREENBELT
As part of the official plan review the City is looking at the option for development within the Greenbelt which will then be fed into the National Capital Commissions review of the Greenbelt Master Plan. You can view the White Paper on the Citys website, ottawa.ca and forward any comments as directed there. Id appreciate a copy of your comments.
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
The Ottawa Cycling Plan is now on the Citys website. Seniors can ride OC Transpo buses for free on Wednesdays until the end of August. The fencing at the edge of the Beaverbrook Park on Campeau is the location of the water pumping station, access road and parking that will soon be under construction. The City has a large number of summer camps for children and youths, including some those with disabilities. They can be viewed on the website or in the Spring/Summer Guide.
