middle order batsman, has been diagnosed with lung cancer and is currently in the United States of America undergoing chemotherapy. Yuvraj Singh played a very crucial role in the Indias ODI world Cup victory last year. The 30-year-old left-hand all rounder has been in the USA since January 26, 2012 being treated for what was earlier claimed to be a tumour in the lungs, by his family. But now Yuvraj has diagnosed with Cancer in Lung and is undergoing Chemotherapy at the Cancer Research Institute in Boston. His physiotherapist Dr Jatin Chaudhary said that the cancer is curable and the batsman would be fit to resume cricket in May. According to Dr. Chaudhary, Yuvraj has a rare tumour and is cancerous but it has been detected in stage one itself. The Doctors had to decide whether to continue medication or go for chemotherapy but since parts of the tumour are just above the artery of his heart, there was a danger that while running it could burst. But it is 100 per cent curable. Yuvraj Singh who is currently suffering from a rare type of seminoma and is in USA undergoing treatment. Here is some important facts about Yuvri and his illness. 1. Yuvraj Singh is suffering from a rare type of seminoma (germ cell tumour). His doctor says association with the term cancer is negative. 2. The illness of Yuvraj is fully curable and he will undergo therapy for nine weeks and shall be able to resume training in ten weeks. 3. Yograj Singh, father of Yuvraj Singh, has said in a TV interview that Yuvraj is responding well to treatment at the Cancer Research Institute in Boston. 4. Yuvraj is believed to be spending his time reading motivational books including the autobiography of Lance Armstrong Its Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life. 5. Yuvraj has been in United States of America since last month for treatment.

Yuvraj had been resting in London for some time after undergoing treatment for three months at the Boston Institute of Cancer Research. Yuvraj posed with his mother Shabnam for shutterbugs as a huge crowd gathered at the Indira Gandhi International Airport for a glimpse of India's 2011 World Cup hero. He then left for his residence in Gurgaon. Yuvraj waved at the huge crowd that had assembled outside his house since morning. He will address the media , "I'm happy to be back home. Recovering well," said Yuvraj, adding that his first meal at home was gobi paranthas. Shabnam added that her son was fine. "Yuvraj is fine. He has to rest for 10-15 days. Yuvi will meet his doctor after three months. He has fought a long innings against cancer. We are grateful to his fans for their support and wishes," said Shabnam. Yuvraj's father, Yograj Singh told television channels that his son was fine and hoped to see him back on the cricket field soon. "Yuvi has fought a battle very difficult to cope up with. He's very strong... He's come back hail and hearty and that is a beautiful moment for me," he said. Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar visited Yuvraj in London last week while former India captain Anil Kumble had flown to the US to meet the star cricketer when he was undergoing chemotherapy. Yuvraj's hero, legendary cyclist Lance Armstrong, who survived cancer, also wished the cricketer through micro-blogging site Twitter. Yuvraj had looked up to Armstong as a motivation during his battle with the disease. "Hi Yuvi, I am Lance Armstrong and welcome home. Man you have got one big following, I have heard about you every hour of every day since you have been diagnosed. We are pulling for you, so glad you are healthy now. Have a great life, don't look back, live strong buddy," the American said in a 19-minute video posted on Twitter.

Mumbai: Yuvraj Singh will play cricket again, come September, but the champion cricketer says he feels like he will play his first match for India. The ace batsman has recovered from a nine-month long battle with cancer and

was declared fit to play by BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) doctors yesterday. Today, the national selectors picked him in the 15-member squad for two T20 matches to be played at home against New Zealand on September 8 and September 11 and for the ICC T20 World Cup beginning on September 18 in Sri Lanka. And the Man of the Moment is ecstatic. "Can't explain how I feel ! Feels like I'm going to play for india for the first time!want to thank a lot of people. Specially bcci and selectors for showing their faith in me my friends and family my fans and media ! It's a special day for me," Yuvraj posted on Twitter. He later spoke to media and said: "I always believed I'd come back. I'm going to give it my best and try winning matches for India. After the 2011 World Cup, I have not really played any ODI or T20. Everybody is just happy that I am back." When asked if he is match fit, Yuvi said: "I will be playing a few practice matches in Bangalore. And then will play two matches against New Zealand. So I will be prepared for the World T20." "Apart from physical fitness, I needed to have mental fitness. I am confident I will be 100% fit when I play," He also said his body may not be prepared for longer versions of the game as of now. "I don't think I am prepared for Test cricket because it will be too tough on my body. 50-over game and Tests are tougher on the body. Starting with the T20 format is ideal for me," he said.

Earlier, Sports Minister Ajay Maken also welcomed Yuvraj's selection and tweeted: "Yuvraj Singh is a fighter! His comeback story will not only inspire the team but motivate sportpersons in their moments of despair & gloom!" Yuvraj was the man of series of the 2011 World Cup; he had a spectacular stint with both bat and ball as India recorded a historic win, lifting the coveted cup after 29 years on April 2 last year. But trouble with health had begun. Yuvraj last played in two of three home Tests against the West Indies in November 2011. He was diagnosed with a rare germ cell cancer and went to Boston, USA, for treatment, where he had three sessions of chemotherapy. "Yuvraj has been declared fit, so he makes a comeback. And all of us know, if he gets going, he can single handedly win matches. He is a crucial factor. We are very happy Yuvraj is back. We appreciate the kind of effort he has put," said K Srikkanth, Chairman of Selectors.

In the US, Yuvraj was visited by friends like Anil Kumble and Ranvijay Singh and posted pictures and regular updates about how he was faring on social networking site Twitter. He said then that he drew immense courage from the experience and struggle with testicular cancer of cyclist Lance Armstrong; the champion cyclist wrote Yuvraj a letter in which he said, "Yuvi, I want you to know that the entire LIVESTRONG team is here for you. We say it all the time, and truly believe in it: Knowledge is Power, Unity is Strength, and Attitude is Everything. Please know that we are here to help you and your family in any way possible. Go Yuvi!! Livestrong." Yuvraj was declared free of cancer on February 14 and returned to India on April 9 this year. He promised to be back on the cricket field soon. Focused on making that comeback he began working hard on regaining body strength, sapped considerably by the chemotherapy. Yuvi played his first cricket match last week - a first class game for KSCA XI against India Colts. He scored 47 runs and bowled a few overs as well. Since making his international debut in 2000, Yuvraj has played 37 Tests, 274 ODIs and 23 T20s and scored 1775 runs, 8051 runs and 567 runs in the three formats respectively.
