INGREDIENTS Masoor dal (split red lentil) Onions Tomatoes Garlic (lehsun) Chilli powder (optional) Curry powder Ghee Salt Lemon slices Steamed Rice 3/4 cup 3 nos (sliced) 3 nos 4 cloves (crushed) 1/2 tsp 3 tsp 1 tbsp to taste to serve 1 cup

Vendakkai Soup
INGREDIENTS Vendakkai ( ladies onger ) Tomato Tomato sauce Cornpour Ginger Garlic Pepper powder Sugar Butter Salt 8   tsp  tsp a small piece  cloves 1 tsp 1 tsp 1 cup as needed

METHOD: v Heat the ghee in a vessel and fry the onions for a little time. v Add the crushed garlic and chilli and curry powders. Fry again until it gives a nice aroma. v Add 6 teacups of water, the tomatoes and the washed masoor dal and cook in a pressure cooker. v When cooked, pass the mixture through a sieve. v Boil for 1 minutes. Add salt. v Serve hot with cooked rice and slices of lemon.

METHOD: v Cut vendakkai into pieces. v Cut tomato, ginger , garlic onely. v Melt butter in a pan. v Add vendakkai, fry and set aside. v Add ginger, garlic, tomato, fry for a few minutes. v Add  cups of water, salt and cook. v When contents boil, switch off the stove. v Blend and strain when cool. v Boil soup with vendakkai, salt, sugar, pepper powder, to. When the soup has boiled well, switch off the stove.
