THE House Minority group has asked Malacaang to make public the daily health bulletin of President Benigno Aquino. In a weekly press briefing, Minority Leader Danilo Suarez and Isabela Rep. Rodolfo Albano said that while they see nothing serious about the Presidents current state of health, it is important to update the public on his condition to prevent suspicion and misinformation. For the past two months, Aquino was reportedly battling flu, allergic rhinitis and bum stomach. He was also suffering from cough and colds. On the onset, I have said, the Minority doesnt see any indicator that the President is in any serious health problem. Maybe a minor cough, Suarez said. Suarez did not advise Aquino to quit smoking but he reminded him of the bad effects of smoking on the body. Well, I dont know how many packs the President smokes a day. Maybe its a state secret. But what Im saying is that we all know that smoking is bad for the health, Suarez said. According to Albano, in the United States it is part of the system to inform the public of the Presidents health by issuing a daily bulletin. Ano ba ang state of health ng ating Presidente? Kaya ang hinihiling ko lang, magpahinga lang. Hindi naman mahirap yung hinihiling ko na magpahinga, then come up with a health bulletin. MANILA, Philippines --- The domestic economy as measured by the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) picked up more steam in the third quarter, expanding by 7.1 percent from 6.0 percent in the second quarter, largely due to sustained strong local demand amid the downturn in the global economy. The countrys GDP expansion is the second strongest annual economic growth in Asia in the third quarter, next to the Peoples Republic of China which registered 7.4 percent. This brings to 6.5 percent the average GDP growth for January-September 2012, which government officials and market players believed strengthened the possibility that the growth range target of 5-6 percent for 2012 within reach. We are well on our way to surpassing our growth target of 5 to 6 percent this year, Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan said. In his report, Balisacan said domestic consumption remained firm, supported by remittances from Filipinos abroad. Private spending, also, has been steadily inching up this year, with an annual climb of 6.2 percent in the third quarter, the fastest growth in three quarters. Malacaang yesterday hailed the resilience and resurgence of the local economy despite a volatile global economy. Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda expressed optimism that the government can exceed its growth target of 5 percent to 6 percent at the end of the year. The Philippine economy grew 7.1 percent in the third quarter this year beating government targets and besting other Southeast Asian countries. Finance Secretary Cesar V. Purisima admitted that the GDP growth was achieved in a very difficult global economic environment and despite the 2.2 percent decline in the mining sector. We welcome the third quarter GDP figures showing broadbased growth across all sectors, going beyond market expectations and placing us above most of our ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) peers, said Purisima. It, also, shows that the Philippines has more room for much faster economic expansion ahead as the country has yet to reach its full potentials. Coupled with the multiple records set recently in our capital markets, the third-quarter GDP figures show that investor and consumer confidence in the Philippines is definitely on an upward momentum, he added. Like many of its ASEAN neighbors, robust domestic consumption and higher government spending have helped cushion the local economy from the worst of the global slowdown, while manageable inflation has allowed government authorities to keep interest rates accommodative for growth. Comparatively, Indonesian economy inched up by 6.2 percent; Malaysia, 5.2 percent; Vietnam, 4.7 percent; Thailand, 3.0 percent; and Singapore, 0.3 percent. This impressive expansion from 3.2% in the same quarter last year, places the countrys 9-month growth rate at 6.5% and on track to surpass the 5-6% full year growth target set by the National Economic Development Authority, Lacierda said. The GDP expansion was fueled by, among others, the robust growth in construction, jumping by 24.3 percent, the highest, in at least six quarters while public consumption expanded an annual 12 percent in the third quarter, almost double the rate in the second quarter. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando Tetangco, Jr. said the authorities will carefully steer monetary policy to sustain strong growth and manage risks from capital inflows. Policymakers meet for the last time this year on Dec. 13 and analysts expect the policy rate to be kept steady well into 2013. To recall, the monetary authorities has decided to cut its key policy rate by a total of 100 basis points so far this year to a record low of 3.5 percent inorder to cushion the local economy from the global downdraft. The peso is Asias best performing currency so far this year, up more than 7 percent against the US dollar on strong foreign inflows into Philippine stocks and bonds, fueled by forecasts of sustained and resilient domestic growth. Eastern Samar Rep. Ben Evardone, chairman of the House committee on public information, commented that the strong GDP growth indicates that our country is headed towards a brighter economic outlook for the Filipino people. While the economies of the rest of the world, including our neighbors, are in turmoil, ours is spiralling upwards. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the economy would grow 0.4 percent in JulySeptember from the previous quarter on a seasonally adjusted basis, picking up from 0.2 percent originally reported in April-June.

The Wil Time Bigtime host kept everybody guessing what his next move would be after he practically bade goodbye to the followers of his TV5 show a week ago, hinting that he was making a big decision which he would announce on Jan. 5 next year. Its a big no to speculations that, 1) he would go back to ABS-CBN (No way, said an ABS-CBN source), 2) get married (no girlfriend, he said) or take a long rest (because of a bad heart and a bad throat), and 3) quit showbiz altogether and concentrate on his huge businesses (a mall-condotel, a resto, etc.). @TheFilamInsider

When Willie announced on his show that where he was standing would be good only until Jan. 5 next year when he would make his important announcement, he was really telling the truth. Its true that Willie is moving but not out of the Kapatid Network (because his contract with it is good until October next year) but to a new timeslot. Willie and his manager, Vic del Rosario Jr., had a closed-door meeting with the Kapatid bosses and they finalized the change in the timeslot of Willies show Wil Time Bigtime usually starts at 6:30 after the early-evening newscast and it goes on and on and on sometimes until way past 9:30 (so many prizes to give away in so many games, you know), pushing back the schedule of the networks primetime shows (including Enchanted Garden), in the process confusing the televiewers. DO celebrities ride the MRT? If they do, how do their fellow passengers treat them? Well, the answer is yes. Guess who was MRTs latest passenger? Venus Raj, former beauty queen at ngayoy tv host na ng early morning show na Umagang Kay Ganda on ABSCBN. Kamakailan lang sumakay si Venus sa MRT. Kinailangan kasi niyang magmadaling makarating sa Gateway Mall sa Cubao for an important event. Eh, manggagaling siya sa Ayala, Makati, for another commitment. When she reportedly called for her driver, the latter warned her na di sila makakarating on time sa Gateway dahil rush hour na. That was when Venus decided to take the MRT. Bago siya naging celebrity, constant MRT passenger siya. Kaya after instructing her driver to proceed to Gateway para doon na sila magkita, Venus and her handler proceeded sa MRT station in Makati. Suwerte raw dahil may tickets nang nakalaan ang kanyang handler. Actually nga naman, ang mahabang pila sa pagbili ng tiket ang nakakatagal sa MRT ride. Venus revealed, her fellow passengers took to her as one of them although there THERE are so many speculations going on about TV5 these days. First, Wil Time Big Time will bow out of the air in January. Second, many current executives will exit and former GMA exec Wilma Galvante will take over in calling the shots about the production and programming. Were told Willie sort of jumped the gun on TV5 when he announced his show will only be until January. Earlier, he was being asked to stick to his time schedule of ending at 9 p.m. as the consistent overtime of his show badly affects the succeeding programs in the ratings. Hed only say yes, but he wont do it, which is one reason why Amazing Race Philippines is not doing as high as expected, considering its huge production cost. He was offered to occupy the noontime slot but he didnt like it. As such, he sulked and floated the story that hell only stay until January. As for Ms. Galvante, there seems to be good enough reason to believe shed be the new head of TV5 entertainment, bound to make some heads roll. By next year, the exclusivity clause specified in her contract with GMA7 would have expired and shed already be eligible to work with a rival network.

Its their very first time to go there and its an adventure for us. Im glad I was able to take them to some of the most beautiful places in Paris. Solenn is one of our busiest stars today. On TV, shes hosting Party Pilipinas and Taste Buddies and one of the leading ladies of Bong Revilla in the costume epic Indio. On the big screen, shes in three new movies. She plays Jose Manalos leading lady in DKilabots, Pogi Brothers Weh! that premieres tonight at SM Megamall and opens in theaters tomorrow. Shes now shooting the GMA Films Metro filmfest comedy entry Sosy Problems with Heart Evangelista, Bianca King and Rhian Ramos and the sexy Regal romance drama The Seduction, Director Peque Gallagas comeback movie with Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati. TJ Trinidad can totally relate to his role as the father of Mona Louise Rey in Aso ni San Roque as hes now a dad in real life. His and wife Marga Valdez son, Alonzo, is now four months old. When hes not working, TJ prefers to just stay at home and take care of his little boy, making him a devoted family man. Its not an easy life, dagdag pa niya. Ginagawa lahat ni Ogie ngayon upang manumbalik ang sigla ng musikang Pilipino sa bansa. Im so active with so many organizations, mainly OPM and my dream sa OPM really is bumalik yung sigla. Were doing everything step by step, pagtatapat ng singer-composer-comedian. At the trade launch Wednesday at Shangri-La Makati, GMA execs showed more enthusiasm to keep the number one network abuzz with activities. Soon, new stars will be introduced and will be given projects. Lauren Young will soon be the newest member of the Kapuso network. She has attended a workshop in GMA, and theres a rumor that some homegrown artists felt slighted. But these stars should think twice. Maybe they should deliver before feeling insecure. Kylie Padilla has backed out of two projects due to personal reasons. One young actress-singer is said to be showing star complex already even when her launching movie bombed at the tills. Another young actress is said to be always late on the set and acting like a prima donna. They should not blame if GMA scouts for more talents that should fit the bill. @TheFilamInsider

Military officials present during the event include Maj. Gen. Edgardo Samonte, commander of the PAF Air Education and Training Command and Col. Ferdinand Cartujano, who read the commission orders. PEOPLE who love Filipino films must be grieving now with the passing of filmmaker Celso Ad. Castillo. He was 69. He died early morning of November 26 after complaining of severe chest pains at his house in Siniloan, Laguna where hed been staying for the past years. He was declared dead on arrival at the nearby Pakil General Hospital. MANILA, Philippines The Quezon City Prosecutors Office has dismissed the libel case filed last June by former actress Amalia Fuentes against talent manager Annabelle Rama and TV hostcolumnist Bianca Gonzales. Recall that the charge stemmed from Gonzales Valentines Day piece, Love, Laughter & Intrigues with Eddie and Annabelle, which was published in her newspaper column early this year. In a TV interview, Fuentes had asserted that the interview which made a mention of her name had demeaned her. Aside from this, PEP reported in an article posted on Nov. 28 that Fuentes complaint had also touched on a number of tweets posted by Rama purportedly against the former last March 31. In a copy of the resolution as seen on PEP, Second Assistant City Prosecutor John Patrick Corpuz declared that he finds no good and sufficient reason to charge respondents either for the article published in the newspaper or for the tweets made by Annabelle. Corpuz found Gonzales article, a fair and true report of Biancas interview of Annabelle. Further, he maintained that Rama was just recounting past event/s in her and husbands Eddies life during the interview. If ever, she revealed events in their life that involved Amalia, that was but part of the narration. As for Ramas tweets in question, Corpuz upheld that there is no such thing as Internet libel under the Revised Penal Code. Citing Article 355, he explained, [it] is very specific that libel can only be committed by means of writing, printing, lithography, engraving, radio, phonograph, painting, theatrical exhibition, cinematographic exhibition or any similar means. In 1932, when RPC became a law, there was no computer yet, much less modes of communication via the Internet. They were only introduced recently, he added. two saints, two nations, one faith

St. Kateri Tekakwitha, the first native American recently canonized saint was born in the year 1656 in Ossernenon (now -Auriesville, New York). She died on Holy Wednesday, April 17, 1680 at the age of twenty four. St. Pedro Calungsod, the second Filipino saint and martyr was born on July 21, 1654 in Ginatilan, Cebu, Philippines. He was martyred in Tumon, Guam on Saturday before Passion Sunday, April 2, 1672 at the age of seventeen. Both saints were born and died within the same decade. Both entered heaven during the holiest week in the calendar of the Church. Both lived very simple and humble lives. Kateri, as an ordinary Iroquois Indian devoted her life to serving her family, the poor and the sick of her village. She devoted herself to long hours of prayer before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Even in the middle of a snow covered woods, she constructed her own chapel by planting a cross so that she could commune with God and His creation. Just like St. Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of nature, she is regarded as the Patroness of Ecology because she saw the lovely face of God in all of His creatures. She endured the cold winter and the persecution of his fellow Indians, who did not share her faith. Pedro, a young catechist, who was educated and trained in the Jesuit seminary in Cebu left the Philippines when he was fourteen years old to join the mission of Blessed Diego San Vitores to the Ladrones Islands, now known as Guam. He assisted the poor Jesuit priest, Padre Diego, who was almost blind in celebrating the mass and in baptizing the natives. He

Christmas came early this year for this writer, thanks to Ner de Leon. The popular Filipino jazz saxophonist has just released The Heart of Christmas, his latest album, which gathers some of the worlds best-loved songs celebrating the yuletide season, and its proving to be the perfect music to usher in the holidays. De Leon, based in the Los Angeles area, gives songs like Joy to the World, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night, and many others a fresh and jazzy twist, and the result is a throughand-through delight. The perfect example is Joy to the background or singing the refrain, and it provides the perfect complement to de Leons saxophone. Angels We Have Heard on High features not one voice but voices. A choir provides backup vocals in the song. As anyone who loves Christmas music can attest, there is something about choirs that seem to capture the spiritthe energy and, to use the Christian term (de Leon is a devout church-goer), the gloryof the season. Angels We Have Heard on High offers that as it showcases the voices of a youth choir singing the songs refrainGloria in excelsis Deoover and over. Its a stirring number, complete with the riffs of an electric guitar. Speaking of voices, the album features two top-class singers in Mon David, who renders a moving Mary Did You Know?, and Maricar Cabasag, who brings to life the timeless Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Cabasag, who these days is rarely seen on stage, really should be singing more, or recording at least. But the one voice thats clear throughout the album is de Leons saxophone, whether its alto or soprano. De Leon, a mainstay in the L.A. jazz scene, can always be counted on to deliver a hit number, whether hes on stage or in the studio. But in the light of faith, especially as we are celebrating this year, 2012-2013, as the Year of Faith, we can say that they are not mere coincidence, they are actually Providence. This means that God purposely gives His Church the gift of these two saints to inspire us especially the young people to holiness in this period of our time when we are experiencing a strong crisis of faith. For we believe that with God, there is no accidents, nor coincidence, only providence. Ask yourself: Does the garment require special carehand-wash or dry-clean onlyand am I willing to follow these instructions? advises Carol Davidson, founder of StyleWorks, an image consulting company in New York City. And dont forget to factor in the cost and hassle of dry-cleaning or hand-washing before you buy. Laundering a dry-cleanonly shirt can cost $30 a year. If you still want it after considering that, its a sure sign you should buy it. 2. conduct a wrinkle test. To make sure the fabric wears well all day long, Davidson suggests you scrunch it in your hand and hold for a few seconds. If its wrinkle-free after releasing the fabric, it isnt likely to be wrinkled at the end of a day of wear, she says. If the item is wrinkled in your handor on the hanger you may want to skip this purchase. 3. Try it on as an outfit. Some women will try on a fancy top with the jeans they wore running out the house. This makes it difficult to judge the true look of the item, says Dawn Del Russo, a fashion and lifestyle stylist in New York City. Instead, try on the piece with shoes and the appropriate bottoms or top, she recommends. If theres an item youre eyeing, take key pieces to the dressing room that complete the look, or ask a salesperson to assemble an outfit from other items in the store. Some dressing rooms already have heels on hand to help you evaluate dressier pieces. 4. Do a mental run-through of your closet. Many of us stick to styles and colors we already own. Think about whether youd be doubling up if you bought the piece youre trying on. Also, make sure your upcoming purchase can be integrated into your existing wardrobe. New clothes should coordinate with and be mixed and matched with what you already own, says Melagro. Take a peek in your closet before you shop, so its contents are fresh in your mind. 5. Get a rear view. No matter how you pose in front of the dressing-room mirror, itll take extra effort to see your backside, says Stephanie Poli, a fashion blogger and TV editor. But its worth it. Get an accurate glimpse in a threeway mirror whenever possible. Or take out your makeup compact, turn around with your back to the dressing-room mirror and use your little mirror to check your reflection. If you have time, get an even better grasp on all-around fit by trying on two sizes of the same item. 6. seek out natural lighting and mirrors. Dressing-room lighting can change how you think the clothes look on you. Super-bright lights can make you look washed-out, says Del Russo. But in too-dim lighting, you wont notice if a top is sheer. Tilted mirrors can also be misleading, elongating your figure and making you think the clothes are slimming. Find mirrors that are flat against the wall to get an accurate reflection. And beware of this sneaky store trick: Some disguise leaning mirrors with a thick frame, so they look like theyre flush against the wall when theyre actually tilted. In that case, step out of the dressing room for a fair assessment. 7. Move around. Simply posing in front of the dressing-room mirror isnt enough to get a feel for fit. Instead, sit, bend over and stand on your tip-toes if youre wearing flats, says Poli. Getting the full range of fit, length and comfort will alert you to certain surprise factors, like a button that digs into your stomach or a jacket that restricts your arms. Sitting in pants and skirts is especially crucial because something that fits you standing up can suddenly seem too tight when youre sitting down. And if youre wearing the item to a party, dancing in it is a good ideayou may want to stay out of sight of fellow shoppers, though. 8. check the details. You may know to test zippers and check that all buttons are in place and there are no loose threads. But you should also see if theres enough additional fabric to make alterations. A few simple changes can make almost any piece of clothing look perfect for your body, says Megaroand add longevity to your purchase too. So turn the garment inside out and look for at least one centimeter of extra fabric at the seams.

Tapered pants, or skinny jeans create an upside-down triangle from your hips to your feet that accentuates your middle. The best cut for wide hips is bootcut pants, which have a slight flare at the bottom to

balance out your hips and create long, lean, vertical lines. High water pants or pants that are just a few inches too short should be avoided. The hem of your pants should fall to the bottom of the heel of your shoe. Many stores offer short or ankle lengths for petites, medium or regular for the general population and long for the taller crowd. But if youre of average height and want slimming jeans or pants, choose the long length to create a slim, tall leg.
