MedlinePlus is the National Institutes of Health's Web site for consumerspatients and their families and friends.

US National Library of Medicine is operated by the US federal government and is a division of the National Institute of Health and the US Department of Health and Human Services 1997 NLM made access to Medline free to the public. MedlinePlus launched in 1998. The US National Library of Medicine is the largest medical library in the world. Its collections include more than seven million books, journals, technical reports, manuscripts, microfilms, photographs, and images on medicine and related sciences, including some of the world's oldest and rarest works. MedlinePlus covers information about diseases, conditions, and wellness issues. Consumers can learn about the latest treatments, look up information on a drug or supplement, find out the meanings of words, or view medical videos or illustrations. There are links to the latest medical research and clinical trials. There are condition directories, a medical encyclopedia and dictionary, easy-to-understand tutorials on common conditions, tests, and treatments, health information in Spanish, extensive information on prescription and nonprescription drugs, health information from the media, and links to thousands of clinical trials. MedlinePlus is accurate, authoritative, objective, and current. MedlinePlus has a mobile version. Consumers can subscribe to email updates, RSS feeds, and can follow MedlinePlus on Twitter.
