Health
More people die from the lack of clean d water and sanitaon than any other form of violence, including war. 90% of these deaths are children, a majority of which are under the age of 5 since their bodies are not strong enough to ght o diarrhea, dysentry and other bacteria. Around 700,000 children die every year from diarrhea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitaon. That is almost 2,000 children per day!
Women & Children
In regions where water is scarce, villagers are forced to walk for hours to the nearest water source. In these rural villages the task of collecng water falls on the women and children. The me consuming task of collecng water eecvely keeps women out of work and children out of school. In Africa alone, 40 Billion hours are wasted each year on the task of collecng water.
Education
Dirty water and poor sanitaon is a major cause of disease and this has a direct impact on academic enrollment. UNICEF esmates approximately 443 million school days are lost every year because pupils and teachers are down with preventable diseases rather than in school studying for a beer future. Addionally, the physically strenuous and me consuming task of collecng water forces million of children to skip school.
Economy
When a community spends most of its me collecng water and falling ill, very lile me is le for producve economic acvity. Lack of water also deprives households from connuing tradional agriculture acvity, which would have ensured self-sustainability and reduced the burden of food cost. Families oen spend up to 11% of their household income to purchase water from small scale water vendors.

Fundraising
water and toilets raises funds for water and sanitaon projects through public fundraising campaigns. We make public donors 2 promises: EVERY CENT GUARANTEED. Every cent donated is used to fund actual projects in the eld. Public funds are not used to fund operaonal cost. PROOF UPON COMPLETION. Upon project compleon, donors receive proof which includes GPS coordinates, completed project pictures and cost details. Operaonal costs are funded through individual, corporate and instuonal donors who believe in our organizaon's long term mission.
Project Implementation
water and toilets selects and funds projects aer engaging with the local community to fully understand their challenges and crical needs. We then work closely with partner NGOs in beneciary countries to select locally available water and sanitaon soluons that ensure our projects are cost eecve and sustainable in the long term. OUR REACH We fund projects all across Sub Saharan Africa and South Asia. However, our immediate focus is on helping our neighbours in the ASEAN region.

Fund Operational Cost
We make our public donors a bold promise. EVERY CENT they donate is used to fund projects in the eld! However, to keep this promise we need the support of corporate organizaons who believe in our long term mission and who understand the cost behind running a successful non-prot. Operaonal cost funding is a key contributor to our growth. It allows us to hire talented professionals, funds our travel to beneciary countries and supports the development cost that accompanies the growth of a lean start up. It eecvely helps us scale our operaons so that more people can gain access to clean water and sanitaon. Our operaonal cost donors support us because they truly believe in our long term mission and wish to be a part of our long term growth.
Adopt A Project
Take full ownership for a water or sanitaon project! We work very hard to idenfy projects across Africa and South Asia with a parcular focus on the ASEAN region. Projects range in price and impact. We have low cost projects that impact small households, mid range projects that impact over 100 people and large scale projects that impact thousands. When you adopt a project you are recognized as the project's sponsor. Upon project compleon we'll put up a plaque at the project site recognizing your organizaon as the main donor and we'll send you proof of project compleon. You will receive pictures, GPS coordinates and detailed project cost details. We'll even invite your organizaon to travel with us when we visit the completed project site so that your employees can see the posive impact for themselves.

water and toilets was founded by Navin Muruga in January 2013 and is in the process of being registered as a charitable foundaon. For the moment, all donaons and funds received will be managed by Pertubuhan Kebajikan TECH Menceria (www.mytechoutreach.org) - a registered charity in Malaysia.
