World

War

the

demand of milk was very high and the suppliers were exploiting the consumer. In a 1929, on Parsi named Pestanji came Anand from Bombay and he started a dairy called POLSON (well known brand for butter) from which the milk was transported to Bombay for the British. During Second World War POLSON dairy started exploiting milk producers. With this milk producers get angered on the POLSON dairy and decide to not to further provide milk to this dairy and at that time was the independence, fight was there and POLSON dairy milk to military of the British Government. But some farmers through that if they don't provide milk then they would be in great trouble. For solution of the same, they went to Mumbai to talk to the "Iron Man of India" Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and he said that if the farmers went to raise their level, they should built up a Co-operative milk society and responsibility of this task given to Shri Morarjibhai Desai.

On 4th June 1946, in Gujarat at Samarkha village they tend a meeting of the entire farmer and decided to start a cooperative milk sector, whose responsibility was given to Shri Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel (founder of Amul). As per Sardar Patel words the farmer made a strike for 15 days and provide not a single drop of milk to POLSON diary. For this Poison could not transport milk to Bombay. So that British commissioner came to Anand and ask for the reason and he convinces that the farmer will make its own 'Co-operative Milk Sector.' But the thinking behind this approval of British commissioner is that the farmer are not educated so they will not suffer till the longer time and they will surrender them self, so it gives lesion to other people, but the history written in different way. Shri Tribhuvandas Patel was new for this task and he was also financial problem. His brother-in-law, Shri Chhotabhai who was an industrialist helped him and with this help Kaira District Co-operative Milk sector was started. First plant establishes in 1946 with milk production capacity of 250 liters per day. These village societies would collect the milk themselves and decided the milk from such village co-operative societies and to sell them. It was formally registered under provide proper marketing facilities for the milk producers of the district. The union began pasteurizing milk in June 1948, for the Bombay milk scheme-Just a handful of farmer in two village co-operative societies producing about 250 liters a day.

Government closed the dairy which nearby Anand railway station for long time but the machinery are there. So the co-operative sector takes the chance z4. And asks to government to give permission for re-open the close dairy and government gives the permission.
