We p ro p o s e a n e w b u i l d i n g t h a t co m p l e t e t h e re q u i re d s u r f a ce , re d u ci n g t h e re f o re b y t wo t h e b u i l d i n g co s t s . Th i s n e w vo l u m e d o e s n t parasite the exisiting one. It positions itself i n t h e vo i d s l e f t . It i s e x t re m e l y ca re f u l . Old and new fulfill each other: the exisitng o n e g i ve t h e p re s e n ce o f t h e e n s a m b l e wh i l e the new one stays back, quiet. It does not need to shout. Its claim is the flexibility that it is giving to the old one.

Nine out of ten s tudents , teacher s , res earch ers, staf f or simp l y v isitors w ou l d c ome u p w ith a simil ar an sw er. Why w ould it be better to build in the old l oc ation a n ew b u il d in g th an in th e ex istin g l oc ation reu se an d ex ten d th e ol d b u il d in g ? The temporary building of the Faculty of Arc h i t e c t u re i s l o c a t e d o n t h e f ro n t s i d e o f t h e T U D e l f t C a m p u s .
