1. Introducing MTN MobileMoney
MobileMoney handles all cash management from your mobile phone, including creating a Wallet, performing instant person-to-person cash transfers, paying your bills and so much more. Dealing with money has never been safer. Its so easy, its simply irresistible!
2.1 Getting Started
a. Grab a valid photo ID Card (e.g. Voter ID, Drivers License, Student ID or Passport) b. Go to your nearest MTN Customer Service Centre or MobileMoney Authorised Merchant*

c. The Merchant or branch captures your personal details and gives you a MobileMoney SIM card d. Insert the MobileMoney SIM card into your handset. After receiving an SMS asking you to register e. Select My MTN menu on your mobile phone f. Select MobileMoney g. Select Register h. Select ID type and enter ID number (e.g Voter ID, Drivers License, Student ID or Passport) i. Enter a 4 digit PIN (MobileMoney PIN) of your choice
(Please keep this MobileMoney PIN confidential)
Your MobileMoney PIN will be used when transacting MobileMoney business on your mobile phone or when using your MobileMoney card j. Re-enter your MobileMoney PIN k. You will receive a message confirming that your MobileMoney Wallet has been activated
2.2 Using your MobileMoney Wallet on your phone
The MobileMoney menu on your mobile phone is set out as follows:  Transfer Money: Mobile User, Non Mobile User, Favourites  Pay Bill  Top Up Airtime  Load Wallet: MobileMoney Scratch Card, From Bank Account  Allow cash out: Cash Out on, Cash Out Off  My Wallet: Check Balance, Mini statement, Favourites, Change MobileMoney PIN, Manage MobileMoney Card, My Web login  Dial Call Centre
Use star(*) instead of dot(.) for all transactions with pesewas eg 1*5 instead of 1.5
2.3 Tips on key menu functions
(a) Transfer money
 Mobile User
To make payment to a Mobile User, enter the recipients mobile number, repeat the mobile number, enter the amount, the reference (optional) and your MobileMoney PIN. The system will debit your Wallet. For Mobile User with MobileMoney Wallet, the system will credit the recipients Wallet. SMS notification messages will be sent to all parties with the transaction detail. For MTN Mobile User without MobileMoney Wallet, the system will create and credit a viral Wallet with the amount and send an SMS notification to the recipient to register a MobileMoney Wallet and receive the cash.

 Non Mobile User
To transfer money to a Non Mobile User from your phone. Enter a secret code, the amount, reference (optional) and your MobileMoney PIN. You will receive a token (number) on your phone. You will have to provide the receiver with the token (number) as well as the secret code to enable him to cash out the money.
 Favourites
To allow payment to a short name that you have set up on your phone, enter the short name, the amount, reference and your MobileMoney PIN. The system will debit your Wallet and credit the recipients Wallet. You will both receive SMS notification message with the transaction detail.

(b) Pay Bill To pay your utility bills from your phone. A list of all utility companies available will be presented. Select the name of the utility company, the amount, the reference (compulsory) as well as your MobileMoney PIN. (c) Top Up Airtime  To top-up airtime, enter the desired top-up amount, the recipients MTN number (optional if own number), repeat the MTN number and enter the MobileMoney PIN. The system will debit your MobileMoney Wallet and send MTN airtime to top-up the recipients MTN number.
(d) Load Wallet
 MobileMoney Scratch Card
To load money on your Wallet from a MobileMoney scratch card. Enter the scratch card PIN number and your MobileMoney PIN.
 From Bank Account	
To load money on your Wallet from your bank account. Enter the amount and your MobileMoney PIN. Your bank account is debited and your Wallet is credited with the amount.
*Your bank must be a participating MobileMoney Bank

 Cash In
To load money on your Wallet with cash.  Go to your nearest MobileMoney Authorised Merchant.  Hand over cash to Merchant  Merchant enters your MTN number, repeats your MTN number, the amount, Merchants user id and MobileMoney PIN The system will debit the Merchants MobileMoney Wallet and credit your MobileMoney Wallet.

(e) Allow Cash out To enable the withdrawal functionality through a Merchant on the system.  Go to Menu  Select Allow Cash out  Turn Cash out on  Go to your nearest MobileMoney Authorised Merchant.  Merchant enters your MTN number, repeats your MTN number, the amount, Merchants user id and MobileMoney PIN  You will receive a request on your phone to confirm Cash out  Confirm and enter your MobileMoney PIN The system will credit the Merchants MobileMoney Wallet and debit your MobileMoney Wallet. The Merchant will then pay you the money.

(f) My Wallet
 Check Balance
To check your MobileMoney Wallet balance:  Go to Menu  Select Check Balance  Enter your MobileMoney PIN  You will receive a response with your balance.
 Mini Statement
To request for a Mini Statement:  Go to Menu  Select Mini Statement  Enter your MobileMoney PIN  You will receive a Mini Statement via SMS detailing your last 5 transactions

 Favourites
To add or delete short names for mobile numbers you want to make payments to.
 Change MobileMoney PIN
To change your MobileMoney PIN:  Go to Menu  Select Change MobileMoney PIN  Enter your current MobileMoney PIN  Enter your new MobileMoney PIN  Re-enter new MobileMoney PIN to confirm change

 Manage MobileMoney Card
To link a new MobileMoney card to your Wallet, use the Link MobileMoney card menu and follow instructions. You can also use the MobileMoney Card On menu to activate your MobileMoney card if it was previously turned off, or the MobileMoney Card Off menu to prevent further use of the MobileMoney card in case it went missing.
*Your bank must be a participating MobileMoney Bank

 My Web login
To log into the internet access channel: http://mobilemoney.mtn.com.gh/  Enter your mobile number as the username on the log-in page  The system will present a challenge* (number) on the screen  Enter the challenge* and your MobileMoney PIN on your phone under 	 My Web login menu  You will now be logged into the internet cash management portal

3. Money Transfer from Merchant
(a) To MobileMoney User To make payment to a MobileMoney user, the Merchant will enter the recipients mobile number, repeat the mobile number, enter the amount, the reference (optional), the Merchants user id and MobileMoney PIN. The system will debit the Merchants Wallet and credit the recipients Wallet. SMS notification messages will be sent to all parties with the transaction detail.

(b) To Non MobileMoney User To send money to a non MobileMoney user, the Merchant will enter the senders ID number and the amount. The sender will enter a 4 digit secret code and repeat the secret code. The Merchant will enter user id and MobileMoney PIN. The system will generate a token (number) that is presented to the sender. The sender must give this token (number) and secret code to the recipient to cash the money.

( c) Recieving Money To receive money through the MobileMoney Network:  Go to an Authorised MobileMoney Merchant  Present your photo ID and token (number) to the Merchant  Enter your 4 digit secret code  When the transaction is confirmed, the Merchant pays you the money

4. Tips for choosing secure MobileMoney PINs
For security reasons the following is recommended  Do not use the same digit more than twice, e.g. 2223 or 1666  Do not use more than two digits that follow on from each other, e.g. 1239 or 6321. Should you choose to use the same digit more than twice, or have more than two digits following on from each other in sequence, you will be asked to choose a different PIN. This is a security precaution.

 Do not use any of your ID numbers, date of birth or any variations of those numbers.  Memorise your selected MobileMoney PIN. Do not write it down anywhere  Do not give your MobileMoney PIN to anyone under any circumstances
5. Error messages Should you receive any error messages on your mobile phone or on the Internet portal that you do not understand, please call 111 for more information.
