CRAWFORDSVILLE PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT CO-ED SOFTBALL RULES
1. Home plate umpire will be in charge of games. 2. All players must be a paid member of CASA and have signed the roster/release form before playing. Players may be added to the roster until Wednesday, Sept. 2 at no charge. After that date, a $10.00 late Fee will be charged for any added player. 3. Players are to wear shirts of like color. No tank tops. 4. Must start with at least 8 players (4 female, 4 male). 5. Game time is forfeit time. 6. Players should be at the ballfield 15 minutes prior to game time. 7. No inning will begin after 60 minutes of playing time, except in case of ties. 20 run rule after 4 inning; 12 run rule after 5 innings. In case of tie, game will proceed until winner is declared. Four (4) innings constitutes a game. Maximum pitches between innings - 1. 8. No steel spikes. 9. One new ball per game. 10. League supervisor will call all games due to rain and will leave that info and any other information that pertains to league on the Softball Rainout Hot Line, 359-0301. 11. No smoking or drinking on ball diamonds. 12. All players must be at least 15. Players under 18 must have a parent consent form signed. 13. All players must have hospitalization insurance. The Parks & Recreation Dept., and CASA are not liable for injuries. 14. Substitution - Same as ASA Rule Book. 15. E-H rule - Same as ASA Rule Book. 16. CODE OF CONDUCT: Any unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Anyone with drugs or alcoholic beverages anywhere on park grounds before, during or after the game will be suspended from that game plus 2 others. Final decisions on any disciplinary action will be made by the League Supervisor and/or P&R director. 17. If a player is ejected from a game and the team has no substitute, the game will be a forfeit. If a player leaves game for injury or going to work, they are just skipped in batting order. In all other cases teams must have 8 players in line up, if not the game is a forfeit. The 8" means 4 male and 4 female. 18. Each batter will start with a count of 1 ball and 1 strike. No free foul ball. 19. The batting order for co-ed shall alternate the sexes. Co-ed play will use an 11" ball when the female bats and a 12" ball when the male bats. 20. Any walk to a male batter will result in a two base award. The next batter (a female) will bat. EXCEPTION: With two outs, the female batter has the option to walk or bat. NOTE: Should the female batter-runner pass a male batter-runner when choosing to walk, no out shall be called during this dead ball period. A male batter-runner advancing to second base without touching first base shall be called out if properly appealed. 21. Ten players, five male and five female, same as slow pitch with the following positioning requirements: two males and two females in both the infield and the outfield, and one male and one female as pitcher and/or catcher. A team is to have an equal number of men and women on the field at all times. 22. Co-ed with Extra Players (EP). Twelve players, six male and six female - same as co-ed plus two EPs who bat in the lineup. 23. If the wrong ball is used, the manager of the offensive team has the option of taking the result of the play or having the last batter re-bat and assume the ball and strike count prior to the wrong ball being discovered. 24. If the EP is used in co-ed, all 12 must bat and any 10 (five male and five female), may play defense. Defensive positions may be changed as long as the co-ed positioning is followed. The batting order must remain the same throughout the game. 25. No stealing. 26. 2 Over the Fence Home Run Limit. 27. Run Rule 20 after 3, 15 after 4, 10 after 5.
