Brief About 2solve

2operate was established to develop advanced decision support technology to help telecommunications companies more effectively troubleshoot network problems. It is founded by engineers with over 25 years of experience in telecom. 2operate's solution, 2solve, significantly reduces network troubleshooting costs by automating diagnosis of poor network performance using Bayesian networks, capturing valuable knowledge and making networks less dependent on individual experts.

Simplifying Troubleshooting
Operating a telecom network (cellular, VoIP, or satellite-based) is a great challenge. A strong organization is required to deal effectively with problems preventing the customer from experiencing good communication/service quality. This typical2operate was established to pursue the idea of utilizing advanced decision support technology for improved telecommunications network maintenance. ly leads to high operational expenditures (OPEX) from staffing the organization with highly skilled engineers for optimizing the network and troubleshooting poor performance.

25 Years of Experience
2operate is founded by three engineers with a

total of more than 25 years of practical experience from telecommunications and software enterprises such as Nokia, Ericsson, Telenor/Sonofon, Systematic, and Texas Instruments.

Built on International Collaboration

2operate is founded based on the results of two international research projects: Gandalf (2005-2007) was a research project under EUREKA/CELTIC focusing on improved mobile operator processes. Among the partners were Orange Labs (France), Telefonica (Spain) and Ericsson (Ireland). For more information consult www.celtic-gandalf.org. ATSIG (2007-2008) was a research project conducted for The European Space Agency developing an automated troubleshooting solution for satellite-based broadband providers. The project had Avanti Communications (UK) as a partner validating the developed concept. For more information consult www.atsig-project.org.

2solve
Meets a Mathematical Challenge
2operate develops and markets a solution, 2solve, enabling the network operator to reduce costs of network troubleshooting significantly by automating the task of producing a technical diagnosis when poor performance is experienced in the network. At the same time, valuable troubleshooting knowledge is captured, making the operator less sensitive to implicit, tacit knowledge only residing within the brains of key personnel. 2solve effectively automates the Diagnostics task

The figure illustrates a typical operator troubleshooting process. First, Fault Detection is (periodically) executed to identify network elements with poor performance. Second, Diagnostics is conducted for each identified network element to determine root causes. Third, Solution Deployment is scheduled in order to remove the diagnosed root causes. The Diagnosis task is often the most resource consuming part of the troubleshooting process. This is what 2solve is able to replace by automation.

Automating diagnostics is a mathematical challenge.

2solve meets the challenge by applying advanced reasoning/decision support technology originally developed for medical diagnostic purposes known as Bayesian networks. The core of the technology is traditional Bayesian probability calculus extended with modern theory of causality. This ensures an extremely robust system capable of handling both uncertainty, conflicting evidence, and missing input data in a sound manner.
