The Active Directory migration plan has 4 phases: 1) preliminary steps to investigate feasibility and requirements, 2) migrate the law school website to use university LDAP authentication, 3) migrate student systems including computers, printers and file storage to use university AD and ULink credentials, 4) migrate faculty/staff systems including computers, file storage and roaming profiles to use university AD and ULink credentials.

Phase I: Preliminary Steps


1. Investigate feasibility with University IT
2. Determine University IT requirements
3. Assess School of Law areas of impact

• Computer management

Phase II: Web Site
1. Users
• Migrate authentication to University LDAP from Law School LDAP
2. Computers
• Configure SSL for secure user logins
• Obtain University LDAP key
• Test University LDAP authentication on temporary Drupal site
• Configure Drupal to use University LDAP
3. Storage
• Storage/content management remains unchanged.
Phase III: Students
1. Web site
• Authentication changes to University LDAP; uses ULink credentials
for login.
2. Computers
• Alfred
o Join to AD
o Install PaperCut; test authentication against University LDAP

o Populate Law Students group in AD
o Configure PaperCut to use Law Students AD group
o Install and set up lab printers
• Lab Computers
o Migrate to University Active Directory; login uses ULink
credentials
o Reconfigure lab printers
• Student Organization Computers
o Migrate to University Active Directory; login uses ULink
credentials
• Classroom Computers
o Migrate to University Active Directory AS PART OF
FACULTY/STAFF MIGRATION
• Student-Owned Laptops
o Re-configure to use ULink credentials to connect to law school
file storage
o Re-configure to use ULink credentials to connect to laptop
printer
3. Storage
• Migrate user data from current Linux file server (Robin) to new
Windows/AD file server
• Assign drive mapping through Group Policies (consult current logon
script)
Phase IV: Faculty and Staff
1. Web site
• Authentication changes to University LDAP; uses ULink credentials
for login.
2. Computers
• Office Computers
o Migrate to University Active Directory; login uses ULink
credentials
• Classroom Computers
o Migrate to University Active Directory; login uses ULink
credentials
3. Storage
• Change faculty/staff roaming profiles to local
• Migrate user data from current Linux file server (Robin) to new
Windows/AD file server
