Ghost stories

the questions: Do you know any ghost stories? Do you like telling / listening to ghost stories?

Exercise 2 Read the

text quickly. Fill in the table: what is described in the paragraphs?

A strange visit
It was a dark and stormy evening. My parents went away for the weekend and I was alone in the house. I was upset because instead going with them I had to stay at home and study for my maths exam. Around eleven o'clock I was very tired and hungry and went to the kitchen to get something to eat. Suddenly, I heard a knock at the front door. I got a bit nervous. "Who is it?" I asked. A warm voice replied, "My name is Monica Brown. I came to see Martha. It is very important." I opened the door. The woman's clothes were wet from the rain and she was shivering. I asked her to come in and offered some tea. When I told her that my mother was away for the weekend the woman grew very sad. She got up and said that she had to go. When I asked if she'd like to leave a message for my mother she said, "Just tell her that I was here...and that I miss her too." Before I could say anything, she went out of the house and into the storm. I looked out of the window but she was already gone. I locked the door and went to sleep. My parents came back the next day. When I told my mother about the strange visit, she was shocked. "That's impossible!" she said, "My friend Monica died two years ago. I never had the chance to say goodbye..." Cold chills went down my spine.
