A RISK ASSESSMENT REPORT ON THE CLOGGED DRAINS AT THE

TAMAN CEMPAKA

SITUATION

The drain at Taman Cempaka is clogged it and produce bad smell to

society who living in this district housing. As the drains are not covered, they

pose hazards the society.

PROBLEM

People who lived in Taman Cempaka frequently water flow with disaster

like flood. This situation happened because of clogged drains. After doing a

survey, we found that there has been one that so far. In one of the case, a girl an

accidentally slipped and die of suffocation during flood.

The plugged drains because bad smell and cause uncomfortable

environment. Furthermore, this condition will attract attention from flies. In

another case, almost two people have encounter food poisoning consequence of

clogged drains.

Another problem is the not residents may suffer from cholera. Last year of

two people died due to dengue fever. The clogged drains cause stagnant water

and invited aedes mosquito breeding.


SOLUTION

We recommend that there should be a campaign to instill consciousness

about cleanliness.

To build a comfortable place, we proposed a “gotong-royong” to be clean

the district housing.

Programmed should be organized of Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI) to clean

the drains frequently.

The drains should be covering with girders or MS grill especially where

people have to often across the drains.
