Woodruff Church of God e-Edition Newsletter December 3, 2013

Pastors Notes: There is a line from a popular Christmas song that says Its the most wonderful time of the year.. Im not sure how you feel about it but I Love Christmas!!!! I love the music (I actually listen to Christmas music all year long), I love the decorations, I love the gatheringsbut mostly, I love remembering the coming of God to this world in the form of man. What a story! What a God! Its hard to imagine what it must have been like when the angel appeared to Mary and to Joseph. What must it have been like to be told youve been chosen for a special purpose.to birth and raise the Messiah. To know that every time you look into the face of that little face, you were looking at the Redeemer of your soul. What a message we have to tell people during this time of year. Please be careful, in all the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season, to not forget the true meaning of Christmas. Please take time to read and re-read the Christmas Story and to allow it to touch you, to guide you and to move you. This year as I read the Christmas Story, I began to see lessons that we can learn about our RELATIONSHIPS from the characters of the Christmas Story. This past Sunday, we learned from Mary. We learned that: 1) She was faithful to Joseph she had never known a man before they met or during their engagement. Joseph was faithful to her.he could have put her away or had her killed but he stayed with her and only her. 2) She wanted to be where Joseph was she made the 3 day trip to Bethlehem with him. She probably should have stayed at home, but this man decided to stay with her and not put her awayhe endured being laughed at and ridiculed because everyone thought the worst, yet he loved her and stayed with her..so wherever he was, Mary wanted to be right there, 3) She heard and believed the Words of God. Her foundation was based on the Words of God. Our relationships will be stronger and better if we could learn the lessons from this story. Be faithful to our spouse, long to be with them more than anybody else, and base your relationship on the Word(s) of God. What an awesome teaching for us to follow to have better relationships. I hope you will be here Sunday morning as I began to teach another set of lessons learned from the Christmas Story. Tell others so that they will join us as well. I believe the Lord has some great things He can help us with if we will let Him.

This coming weekend is an exciting time for us here at Woodruff Church of God. Our Music Department is leading us into a new endeavor in helping us become more involved in trying to more actively engage ourselves in reaching our harvest. Saturday night, they will be doing a special thing JUST FOR OUR COMMUNITY. It is intentional in its purpose. They are trying to invite, feed, love on, share gifts with and mostly, share the Christmas story with people who do not know Jesus. Miracle on Poole Street is what this evening is called. This is just for the lost people of our community. Sis. Vickie does need some people who would be willing to help her serve. If you would be willing to help her, please email her at RTPVJP@yahoo.com. Thank you for helping us be the church that we need to be..focused on reaching the lost, sharing the good news and helping them to learn to walk the way of Christ. Sunday night at 6:00 PM.the Spirit of Praise Music Ministries will be presenting The Best of His Story. This will be in our Sanctuary and is for our church people as well as guests. They will be doing the 10 most requested songs that have been done over the last 7 years or so. It will be a WONDERFUL time and you cannot afford to miss. What a message is contained in these songs and what an opportunity to invite someone to come to hear the message in music. Please, please, PLEASE..be here and bring someone with you. This may be the night that they receive Jesus as Savior.

God is good and this family is strong in faith and believe that God is fully in charge of every event in our lives. Thank you for the flowers, calls, and prayers during this time. We love you! ~Rev. James & Wanda Shealy Perhaps you sent a lovely car, or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent a funeral spray, if so we saw it there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts, we than you so much, whatever the part. ~John & Janet Mathis, & the Family of Annie Morrow Prayer List
