1. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. SPRINKLER SYSTEM
An Integrated system of piping designed in accordance with fire protection
engineering standards (NFPA - 13). The portion of the Sprinkler system above
ground in a network of specially sized OR hydraulically designed piping installed
in a building, structure, OR area, generally overhead and to which sprinklers are
attached in a systematic pattern. The valve controlling each system riser is located
in the system riser OR in its supply piping. The system is activated by heat from a
fire and discharges water over the fire area.
B. PRO-INERT SYSTEM
A Total Flood ProInert Fire Extinguishing System uses IG-55 as the fire
extinguishant. IG-55 is an inert gas mixture consisting nominally of 50% argon
and 50% nitrogen. t shall include all mechanical and electrical installation, all
detection and control equipment, IG-55 storage cylinders, system actuation
equipment, discharge nozzles, pipe and fittings, manual release and abort stations,
audible and visual alarm devices, auxiliary devices and controls, shutdowns,
alarm interface, caution/ advisory signs all other operations necessary for a
functional ProInert Fire Extinguishing System.

3. THEORY OF OPERATION
A. SPRINKLER SYSTEM
When a fire occurs in any floor, heat rising from the fire breaks the glass built in
the sprinkler head, releasing water into the fire. As a result of which there is a
drop in the system water pressure and the fire pump starts feeding water to the
system. At this stage the Alarm Check Valve and/or Flow Switch gets operated
indicating a water flow in that particular floor / section which is relayed to the
Main Fire Alarm Panel and the Fire Alarm gets activated.
ALARM CHECK VALVE
B. PRO-INERT SYSTEM
Total Flooding Clean Agent Extinguishing System is manufactured by Fike
Protection System U. S. A.
The System includes Mechanical and Electrical Installation, Detection and
Control Equipment, Agent Storage Cylinders, Clean Agent as IG-55.
Nozzles, Pipes and Fittings, Manual Release and Abort Stations, Audible and
Visual Alarm Devices, Auxiliary Devices and Control, Shut Down, Alarm
Interface, Caution/Advisory Signs and Functional Checkout testing.
The system shall be actuated by a Optical Smoke Installed in the protected .
The automatic operation of each protected area shall be as follows:
a.
Actuation of one (1) detector, within the system, shall:
Illuminate a ALARM lamp on the control panel.
Energize an alarm bell inside the hazard area (1st Stage Alarm)
b.
Actuation of a second detector, within the system, shall:
Illuminate a PRE-DISCHARGE lamp on the Control Panel
Energize an alarm Horn/Device (2nd Stage Alarm)
Start time-delay sequence (set for 30 seconds)
Enable system abort sequence.
Shut down the HVAC system or close dampers wherever
applicable.
c.
After completion of the time-delay sequence the agent shall be
discharges and following shall occurred.
Illuminate a RELEASE lamp on the control panel.
Energize visual indicator outside the hazard in which the discharge
occurred along with alarm horn/device.
d.
The system shall be capable of being actuated by manual discharge devices
located at exit of each hazard. Operation of a manual device shall duplicate
the Cross Zone Detection sequence described above except the time delay
and abort functions shall have the provisions for monitoring initiating devices
circuits, alarm circuits for open or different audio visual signal. Panel shall
have battery charger (inbuilt) to keep the standby battery in charged
condition.

6. SAFETY INDUCTION
Use Safe Ladder while doing the maintenance.
Close the Butterfly valve / Isolation Valve and release the Zone/Floor pressure before
replacing any component
Use of ladder should not damage the installed sprinklers and other system devices.
Use proper means to remove the residual water in the system while components
replacement so as to avoid any water damages.
Disconnect the Main Power Supply and Secondary Power Supply to Replace or
Repair damaged devices.
