Nov 6th-56 Mr. Ren H. Council, 7930 S.VJ. 36th St., Miami, Fla. Dear Mr. Council: A revolver bullet should upset to fill the c hamber tjroats before entering the barrel throat, A gas check is to my notion all wrong in arevolver as it cannot be large enough to seal off the gas in cylinder without being so large as to distort the case when loaded. Many copies and changes have been engineered in my bullets awith no improvemnt aid none soot as well as a hell of a lot of exper.iement went ^nt. my design* I want a plain cast bullet long enough for long bearing on rifling with wide enough bands to holc<rif ling and that front b andout in front of the case full groove dianter to true up the cartridge in cylinder and cut downjukp to rifling and n o man or factory has ever produced anything more accurate flian my design nor will they. The Remington factory bullet is not a gas check as advert ised at all but apart jacket as itcovers whole base band and first grease groove andis very t hin ai deasily upsets to fill chamberthroats andoes a nice job and is only way so soft a bullet can shoot accurately at that velocity, ^ Hank enson and I have been shooting our 6^-" Ijif mags in S & make for some timeon target a nd w e fin dthem he finest target revolvers ever made and superior in accuracy t o any 38 Spl belive it or not Best bullets are my 250 ,^rai n solid or 235 grain hollow base or hollow point cast oneto 16 tin and lead, and we size em , l | . 2 9 groove d later of our guns andload 5 grains Bullseye for a light load and 8.5 grains Unique for a medium o tdoor 50 yard load and 22 grains 2lf.OO for a heavy load, the heavy load is still at least 5*000 pounds under the factory load and also slower in velocity but is a darn good load, ^ou can try my hollow base 235 grain or hollow point 235 grain to cut down weight but the long length and that wide forward band inf ront of case are mandatory for finest accuracy and the Thompson andothergas checks will never equal it. We get many one hole groups with 5 grains Bullsye at ^anks i;5 ffot range off hand, ^ank is an N.R.A. Director an our best small bor* man in this country. I had a fight with Lyman to keep he it from changing front band on my bullet and making is smaller in dianter, ^ell * wanted It full groove diater to take the thrust of rifling whenn t hits the lands and that is why I designed it with those two forwardbands where most of stripping occurs in aiy revolver. Seven grains of Wo 6 is also a very accurate load for target, I dont agree with Lyman on a small
