As you are aware the need for economy to increase productivity and be more competitive is
generating greater demands for skills and has resulted in a skills intensification of national
economy. It is only by increasing investment in knowledge and skills that government,
enterprises and individuals can improve an economy's competitiveness and ensure decent
employment outcomes for all. Education and training are essential and they must form an
integral part of a comprehensive set of economic, labour market, community development
and other policies for growth and employment.
Against this backdrop, Confederation of Indian Industry is organizing the Skill Conference
2009, focusing on the theme – “Harnessing Skills : Driving the Economy” on 24
October 2009 in Hotel Residency, Thiruvananthapuram.
The objective of the conference is to
