TRAINING (he F(re and E,acua&(%n P!an consists of two essential elements, both of which must be present for it to succeed$ 5. -r(&&en .u(de!(nes / $%s&ed (n'%r*a&(%n - (he plan contains general information applicable to the entire building, as well as specific guidelines and floor plans for each floor within the building. Fire evacuation signs located in each building and near the e'it stairwells are designed to complement the plan. 6. E*$!%"ee &ra(n(n. - 7our training is essential to the success of this plan. 8ithout training the fire plan will not wor for you or your associates, so ta e time to learn and practice the procedures on a regular basis. GENERAL FIRE PROCEDURE 2f a fire occurs, you should follow the R)A)C)E. procedure$ R0 A0 C0 E0 Rescue Rescue anyone *this includes yourself+ who is in immediate danger from the fire. 1emove these people to the closest safe area, simultaneously notifying other staff of the fire and its location. 3n%4 45ere a!&erna&e e6(&s are !%ca&ed. C%n'(ne Confine the fire by closing all of the doors in and around the fire area. (his will help eep fire and smo e from contaminating the e'it paths during evacuation. 2t also helps to eep the fire to a much smaller area and aids in preventing it from spreading to other areas.
E6&(n.u(s5 (here is no better time to control and extinguish a fire than in its early stage. 9tili:e fire e'tinguishers acronym * P)A)S)S)+ if you discover a fire in its earliest stage. 2f a fire is well developed, however, the best thing to do is close the doors around it and get out. #o not place yourself at unnecessary ris 4your greatest value is as a rescuer, not as a firefighter. A0AIM Aim the no::le at the base of the flame S0S7UEE8E quee!e the handle S0S-EEP "eep the no::le from side to side at the base of the flames until the fire is completely e'tinguished. (he 1122 9'(re sec&(%n: is responsible for e'tinguishing fires at the ;u(!d(n.. 7ou should never hesitate to call 1122. Remember that fire, even a small fire, presents an extreme risk to staff and everyone inside the building, so dont hesitate act immediately! As a Re*(nder# All fires will re;uire an investigation as to the cause. A report must be ta en by .mergency 0fficer 5566 after each event. 8ait for an A33 C3.A1 from 1escue 5566 #epartment before re-occupying a building after a fire evacuation.

EVACUATION PROCEDURE
5. 2f you are the first person to discover a fire or other emergency necessitating a building evacuation, ca!! 1122 *from a landline+ or *from a cellular phone+. Communicate your discovery to other staff in the area and activate the closest fire alarm device. For response to criminal activities, refer to 5.a. below. I' "%u are (n,%!,ed (n rescue, send s%*e%ne &% ca!! 1122. a. For criminal activities, such as a bomb threat, active shooter, or hostage situation, call rescue police 5> from a land line or cellular phone. 9nless directed by emergency responders *5566 or 5>+, d% n%& ac&(,a&e the fire alarm system. i. For a bomb threat, turn off all two-way communication devices, such as two-way radios, cell phones. 6. Building Coordinator or owner will$ a. 2f it is safe to do so$ i. ii. !ut on emergency vest and sweep the assigned floor, assist with victim evacuation and safely evacuate the building. iii. Contact Ambulance operations *5566+ to notify of evacuation via pager. b. Act as 3iaison to the on-scene 2ncident Commander *typically or fire+ i. !roceed to the incident command post *generally a police car or fire engine+. ii. Communicate where non-ambulatory persons are staged in the building. c. Special 2nstructions @@ delete if not applicableAA i. (he Building Notification system for this building is *fill in+ %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% e.g. telephone paging system or air horns. ii. 2n the event of a criminal activity, such as a bomb threat, active shooter, or hostage situation, activate the Building Notification system 0N37 8,.N directed by emergency responders *fire or police+. iii. @@delete if not applicableAA 2f the building does not have an audible fire alarm$ use the Building Notification system to inform people to evacuate the building =. #epartment / 9nit Coordinator a. 2f it is safe to do so, i. !rimary Care Networ Clinics$ 2f there is time and it is safe to do so, switch AC# to BNightC mode or contact (echnical 0perations Center *D-D=>E+ after evacuating to switch AC# to BNightC mode. ii. 0r - (elephone the answering service and notify of evacuation. 1elay the name and pager number of the physician on call and any other pertinent information *e.g., the estimated duration of the evacuation, and/or forward telephones to a nearby !CN clinic, if appropriate+. b. (a e the patient schedule before vacating the building. c. Assist with removal of patients and staff. d. Assign staff member*s+ to sweep public spaces of floor / area, if it is safe to do so. e. .vacuate building and go to Assembly Area. f. Account for all staff" if staff are not accounted for, attempt to contact and verify location. g. 1eport any persons nown to be in the building to the Building Coordinator, who will give report to on-scene 2ncident Commander. h. 2f it was not safe to switch AC# before evacuation, call the (echnical 0perations Center *,elp #es + at F5G-E=D-D=>E and re;uest to remotely switch AC# system during evacuation. i. 8hen the emergency has been resolved and the clinic is able to return to routine business operations, return the phones to normal. D. Nurses and !hysicians will$ a. .nsure that patients are properly draped and able to be transported

and assist them in evacuating the premises using the safest e'it. #levators are not to be used. b. (riage patients upon arrival at Assembly Area" as needed, patients will be transported to sister clinics. !atients who can be rescheduled without compromising patient care will be sent home and rescheduled for another appointment. >. All Staff *including nurses and physicians+ will$ a. (a e personal belongings, such as purse or wallet, car eys, and cell phone, if items are immediately available. b. .'it the building using the nearest available e'it or stairs. c. (o the e'tent it is safe to do so, direct patients and/or visitors to evacuate the building using the nearest available e'it or stairs and to gather at the !rimary Assembly Area *or secondary area if primary area is unsafe or unavailable+. i. Note$ (he on-scene 2ncident Commander may designate another assembly area, based on the nature of the emergency. d. Assist any person needing rescue assistance, such as those persons in a wheelchair or gurney, to the .vacuation Assistance Area*s+. i. At least one staff member should remain with patients or nonambulatory persons at each .vacuation Assistance Area. ii. Staff must report on the status and location of all persons needing rescue assistance to the Building Coordinator. e. Hather at the Assembly Area i. All staff MUST report to their #epartment/9nit Coordinator for roll call and instructions. ii. Account for all patients and visitors from their area*s+, if possible. iii. #o not leave the Assembly Area until told to do so by your #epartment/9nit Coordinator. iv. 2nform your #epartment/9nit Coordinator if you have specific information regarding the emergency or about persons needing evacuation assistance. v. #o not re-enter the building until the A33 C3.A1 from the 2ncident Commander is called. Notification to all employees and patients to re-enter the building will be from the 2ncident Commander through the Building Coordinator. G. Special Assignments, if applicable a.
