The Perfect Tenses Review

Present Perfect Tense--has or have + past participle Used to express an action which began in the past but which continues into the present Karen has lived in Sylmar for three years. Joe has worked at the college since he was twenty. The Smiths have attended that church since 1992. An action completed recently I have justfinished this exercise.

Past Perfect--had + past participle Used to express an action which was completed BEFORE another action in the past. Jack hadfinished his homework before he went to the party. Mr. Harris had taken several Spanish classes before he went to Spain. Before he left the office, Bill had spoken to his supervisor.

Future Perfect Tense--will or shall + have + past participle

Used to express an action which will be completed by a specified time in the future. The
sentence must include a specific time (deadline) by which the action will be completed. Betty will have finished the project by 2 p.m. Jaime will have completed his degree by June 2011. By this time tomorrow Brandon will havepainted the house.
