LORINE NIEDECKER BIO lorine niedecker spent most of her life secluded in rural wisconsin (black hawk island,
rock river). her father was a sherman and her mother was deaf and ill; niedecker withdrew from beloit after two years to help take care of her. poor and somewhat of an obscure poet for most of her lifenot published much during her lifetime. close to zukofsky (he got her pregnant, they traded poems and letters, she read his essays on objectivism). unlike her fellow objectivists, her poetry often dealt with the personal aspects of her life. WORK/BIBLIOGRAPHY notes: select from estate & archives; cid corman's papers (homemade poems); letters (letter to gail); julie schoessow (stepdaughter) might release family papers her work can be found in a digitized form at UW's digitized collections site (I would link it, but the sessions expire fairly quickly). though the archive is nice, it is near-impossible to navigate smoothly, and at 217 pages of results for a basic "lorine niedecker" search, it is also quite difcult to examine the archive without having a particular goal in mind. primary archives are at the dwight foster public library, which also has her personal library, as well as the hoard museum (ft. atkinson), which has many of her papers.
