Course Goals
To learn and communicate the key biological and engineering fundamentals that govern a biochemically engineered process. To conduct an analysis on the biological and engineering factors essential to the design and operation of a biochemical processing system.

Examinations
Mid Sem Exam : 25% Closed-book exams Mid semester exam will cover first half of the course content and end semester examination will cover the second half Policy for partial credits Opportunity for extra credits

Home Assignments
Total of 5 Homework Assignments; each assignment worth 4% each Due at the beginning of a class a week after being assigned as per the schedule given in the time table. It is anticipated that the students will discuss the assignments among themselves, but the work handed in should be your own work and not plagiarized. Partial credit policy will be followed.

Quizzes
Two quizzes worth 7.5% each. The content for basing the quiz will be specified ahead of time. Just like examinations, there will be partial credit policy and opportunities for earning extra credits.

Tutorials/Concept Builders
A total of 20 tutorials/concept builders worth 10% of the grade distributed over the semester. Would typically involve basic concept building questions. ~5-7 min will be provided before the end of lectures for completing the concept builders. These have to be submitted at the end of class. Credit awarded in these tutorials is solely on the basis of attempts and not on the correctness of the answers.

Expectations
It is expected of the students to spend ~3 hours per week outside of class hours preparing for the course Follow the honor code of IITGN Work turned in should always be your own. Plagiarism in any form will lead to a zero grade for assignment, possible failure of the course and reporting of the incident for further actions.
