OAO Sibenergomash
We specialize in manufacturing of high power
capacity boilers, industrial FD and ID fans. We
provide large thermal power stations, metallurgy
and petrochemistry facilities and facilities of other
industrial fields with the equipment.
OAO Sibenergomash produces all types of draft
equipment for boilers with steam capacity of 35
tons per hour and more, including such major
project as draft equipment packages for power units
of 200, 300, 500, 800 and 1200 MW unit capacity;
and a lot of special equipment for metallurgy,
chemical and cement industries. Designing of
draft equipment is executed by a special designengineering department that holds copyright of
almost all axial and centrifugal products of medium
and large dimension-types used in the Russian
market.
Sibenergomash specialists do not restrict
themselves to standard product range, but always
meet the customer's individual requirements
and create equipment which is maximally adapted to
the required parameters and operational conditions
and helps achieving high economic efficiency.
Draft equipment design is made on powerful
computer graphics workstations with the use
of high-level solid modeling Unigraphics CADsystem. Strength and aerodynamic calculations
are carried out with the help of ANSYS design
complex. Designers' documents circulation
and data storage are accomplished in IMAN
data management system. Draft equipment
characteristics optimization and service conditions
adaptation is being made on the basis of technical
regulations and economic indexes, with due
account for peculiarities of components interaction
during manufacturing process. On this basis
Sibenergomash offers ID and FD fans of absolutely
new design with improved quality and verified
economic indexes.

Major induced-draft fans (ID fans) for smoke fumes
extraction at the temperature of 200 - 250C;

the temperature up to 100C;

moving of hot air and smoke fumes at the temperature under 400C;
Mill exhauster fans working under 200 in the
systems of preparation and supply of pulverized
coal into boiler furnace;

used in processing lines of large industrial facilities
in the temperature range from 20 to 400.

Sibenergomash product range counts more
than 60 basic standard sizes and over 100
modifications of axial and centrifugal ID and FD fans
with impeller size from 1350 to 4300 mm, and with a
capacity from 75 to 5600 kW.
Axial draft equipment produced by Sibenergomash
(pic. 1) is presented by two-stage induced- and
forced- draft fans with impeller diameter from 2850
mm to 4300 mm. These machines are basically
used in power industry.
Centrifugal fans with 1350 - 3800 mm impeller
diameter are released in broad design diversity, and
in comparison with axial products are more widely
used. These machines can differ from each other
by impeller blades design, flow part design, running
gear (shaft with bearing assemblies) structure, etc.
According to the lay-out diagram ID and FD fans
are subdivided into one-side (pic.2) and two-side
suction (pic.3). Designing of two-side suction
machines is usually (but not necessarily) made on
the basis of the one-side suction machine design if
there's a demand for raising capacity up to 1,8 - 1,9
times, saving pressure output index.

Aerodynamic data of DE constitutes graphic
dependence between ID fan's or FD fan's growing
pressure Pv, Pa, impeller shaft power N,
kW and coefficient of efficiency , % of flow
volume Q, m3/h at the machine entry.
DE shaft developed pressure and shaft power
depend on density of transient medium at entry 1,
kg/m3, and impeller rotation speed n, rpm.

To provide trouble-free product operation in case
of barometric pressure oscillation and possible
changes of duct resistance, and also for registration of
aerodynamic data tolerance, DE selection must not be
made in accordance with V and p, values set above,
but in accordance with calculated value of output and
total pressure taken with necessary margins:

Variable-frequency drive (VFD)
To achieve effective work and high efficiency of
power generating units it is necessary to lower plants
auxiliary power consumption.

procedures of energy generation, for example, fuel
combustion.
Fans are one of the basic auxiliary power consumers.
For example, in gas-fired power units with 100-300
MW capacity 6,1-4,2 % and in coal-burning units
7,8-5,6% of power consumption fall at the above
mentioned equipment.
VFD includes standard or special nonsynchronous
or synchronous electric motor, transistor or thyristor
transducer, matching transformer or reactor, startcontrolling and switching devices. Sometimes, in order
to solve the problem of electromagnetic compatibility
with the circuit, filter-compensating devices can be
included into VFD scope of supply.
There are a number of methods to control ID and FD
fans operation: load throttling, lowering of unit capacity
and increasing the quantity of the equipment, etc.
The most effective method is regulation of rotational
speed.
Electric motors with 37 - 5000 kW capacity are
used for driving of ID and FD fans.

Use of variable-frequency electric drive in fans
provides for integral decrease of the consumed
capacity by 25-40%, and allows raising unit capacity by
1-2% on average due to throttles and chokes removal

Achieved accuracy of contacting bodies processing
raises effectiveness of lubricating and lowers
noise and vibration level. This makes the bearings
go smoothly, decreases the temperature, lowers
lubricant consumption and, accordingly, volume of
bearing assembly maintenance.
Actual operating life of the bearing unit
manufactured according to a new technology is
ten times longer than of those mass-production
bearings, manufactured according to obsolete
technologies.
Thanks to their interior structure, spherical roller
bearings can not only bear heavy radial load, but
hard axial stress as well.
It is fixed on the shaft with the help of a clamping
sleeve, which provides reliable fastening and
prevents the bearing from axial movement or
preload bore. This mechanism is recommended
as the most requirements meeting for loading
conditions and exploitation of the bearing units in
industry and power industry fans.
In most of the running gears bearings are placed in
cast-iron cases provided with noncontact labyrinth
seals, which are filled with grease lubricant the
same that is used for lubrication of the bearing
itself. Loose connection leads to lowering of power
loss caused by friction in bearing assemblies and
reduction of heat generation.
assemblies forming the running gear of one-side
suction draft equipment are fixed on general stand
that has a firm welded structure. The stand is placed
and attached to foundation with anchor bolts. Twoside suction fans have transitional stands between
new bearing housings and old foundations. New and
old running gears have full interchangeability both at
supply of complete draft equipment and spare parts.
The new structure of running gears does not
demand extra cooling with water as it was supposed
in the old design.
This is achieved due to:
1) Significantly lower heat release of bearings
Centralized greasing station
To provide continuous circulating lubrication and
cooling of bearing assemblies of large centrifugal
ID and FD fans and their electric drive motors,

Centralized greasing and cooling station control
system maintains control and blockage of ID/FD
fan drive operation on the basis of data got from
the sensors and instructions given from operator's
control panel.
3) Intensive heat emission through rotating in the
air medium open section of the shaft which is
situated between two bearing assemblies.

Functional system of control can be divided into
3 categories:

- electrocontact pressure sensors which control pressure before and after pressure filter (3 pcs);
- electric motors of hydraulic pumps drive;
- filter soiling sensors (2 pcs), warning of inadmissible
filter pollution;
Running gear bearings lubrication
Original grease filling of bearing unit is made at the
production facility. The unit cavity is totally filled by
the grease, and free space inside the housing is
filled up to 40%.

The station supports semi-automatic mode,
which means that some of the options are fulfilled
automatically. Some of the control functions are
governed by the operators direct command (with
the help of control element).
2) Special design of casing base, which provides for
good transfer of heat to the base
The design of new running gears is made with the
expectation that all draft equipment installation
dimensions remain invariable. Two bearing
In most cases of use of bearing assemblies in
normal conditions grease (viscous) lubrication is
applied. Its advantages in comparison with fluid
lubrication are the following: it holds in the rollers
cavity easily, aids in bearing assembly gasketing and
blocks dust and water pollution. Grease lubricants
used by OAO Sibenergomash nowadays provide
for bearing assemblies reliable operation in the
temperature range from -40 to +150C.

cooling is used.
Periodical replenishment of the grease is made with
the help of special syringe through lubricating nipple
installed on the housing (pic. 4). While fresh material
is being filled, part of the grease is pressed out of
the housing through pressure breakdown labyrinth.
Period of replenishment is determined by the
manufacturer and specified in operation manual.
For automation of replenishment process we
recommend to use compact containers which are
installed on bearing housing lubricating nipple.

- minimum oil level sensor, warning of critical lowering
of oil level in greasing station tank;
- valve of water supply into cooling system.

- alarm contacts, controlling the state of electric power

All executive parts of the system are connected to
the control area. All the data given by control parts
are being fixed by the main electronic controller,
including electric power commutation elements
and protection, and electronic modules of the main
controller.

Embodiment description
Structurally the control system of the centralized
greasing and cooling station represents a monoblock
of the control unit and equipment sensors' executive
elements switched to it.
Monoblock of the control unit is an electrical cabinet
in which the electric power elements of commutation
and protection, and also electronic controller, are
installed. The front wall of the cabinet is a door which
leads to the inner mechanisms of the cabinet. Upper
surface is sloped to the operator's side and is a
control panel that includes indication and control
devices. The panel itself is designed like a lid going
up and backwards to open way to the shanks of
indication and control devices.

removing of combustion gas from furnaces of
land-type steam boilers with steam capacity up to
480 t/h, with dust saturation of gas not exceeding
2g/m3. It is possible to use these ID fans in nonintrusive gas removal installations (particulate
pollution not exceeding 2g/m3, abrasivity and sticking
parameters of particles close to those of combustion
gas ash). Maximum temperature of transferred gases

are designed for removing of combustion gas from
furnaces of land-type steam boilers with steam
capacity up to 320 t/h, with dust saturation of gas not
exceeding 2g/m3. It is possible to use these ID fans
in non-intrusive gas removal installations (particulate
pollution not exceeding 2g/m3, abrasivity and sticking
parameters of particles close to those of combustion
gas ash). Maximum permissible temperature of

of combustion gas from furnaces of land-type steam
boilers with steam capacity up to 480 t/h and

are used in non-intrusive gas removal installations

Mill exhauster fans
Table 23
Mill one-side suction exhausters of , -, -1
and type are used for pneumatic transportation
of pulverized coal in dust-preparation systems of
solid fuel boilers. With relatively low productiveness
these exhausters produce intensive pressure and
are being destroyed by abrasive action of pulverized
coal. For the sake of protection in - exhausters
blade antiwear installation is provided. Blades of
-1 exhausters are protected with weld deposition
made of abrasion-resistant steel. exhausters
also suppose the substitution of worn out blades. The
-1 exhausters scroll case curb inside is protected
by replaceable armor plates made of low-carbon steel.

plates made of chilled cast iron.
