The Eastern Partnership aims to strengthen relations between the EU and six Eastern European countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. It seeks to bring these partner countries closer to the EU by promoting stability, democracy, good governance, and economic development. Key aspects of the partnership include new association agreements with the EU, integration into the EU economy through free trade areas, and cooperation on energy security and regional development. The EU will also provide increased funding to support reforms in partner countries, with total annual funding increasing by 75% by 2013. Challenges include consolidating democracy and governance, addressing conflicts and instability, and furthering economic integration with the EU.
