Thermite Torch
The Thermite Torch EOD is a lightweight incenciary device
used to facilitate the destruction by burning of the
explosives and propellant in unexploded ordnance (UXOs)
and to initiate the burning of other less combustible
materials.
The device is fitted with an electric safety fuse for initiation
and also a diaphragm, which can be pierced to allow the
insertion of alternative methods of initiation, for example,
Safety Fuse.
For large UXOs and most small ones, the casing of the UXO
will have been opened by explosive or other means and the
Thermite Torch will be placed in direct contact with the
explosive or propellant. It will then be ignited. For thin
cased UXOs, such as Flares and some sub-munitions, the
incendiary will be placed on the outside of the thin cased
UXO and be required to burn through the casing of the UXO
and ignite the explosive or propellant inside. The maximum
thickness of such a casing is 2.5mm aluminium.
Demolition Detonator Non Electric L1A2
The L1A2 is in service with the UK MOD and is supplied in a full military pack. The detonator is designed to be initiated
with safety fuse. The L1A2 comprises an aluminium tube with an output charge of PETN initiated with a primary
charge of Aluminium / Lead Styphnate / Lead Azide. Each detonator is fitted with a waterproof rubber cap. Five
detonators are packed in a compact black conducting plastic rigid wallet ideal for carrying in field operations. Forty
wallets are packed in an H83 ammunition container.
Demolition Detonator Electric L2A2
The L2A2 is in service with the UK MOD and is supplied in a full military pack. The L2A2 comprises an aluminium tube
with an output charge of PETN initiated with a primary charge of Aluminium / Lead Styphnate / Lead Azide. The
electric ignition is by means of an E Type fuzehead fitted with a silicone rubber plug sleeve assembly. The lead wires
are twisted and coiled to provide a RF resistant compact product. Five detonators are packed in a black conducting
plastic rigid wallet ideal for carrying in field operations. The wallet has tactile marking. Forty wallets are packed in an
Det Cord Booster L10A1
This product is designed to easily and reliably initiate a range of charges from L5A1 detonating cord. It is waterproof
and may be connected underwater if necessary. There is no limit to the number that may be attached to any one
length of detonating cord. It is ideal for initiating Blade, PE4, and Linear Cutting Charge. To maximize the effect of
charges more than one detonation point may be used by using multiple boosters. The product contains secondary
explosives only and hence is safe to handle.
Igniter Safety Fuse Electric L25A1
The ISFE is in service with the UK MOD and is supplied in a full military pack. The primary function is to ignite safety
fuse. The igniter consists of a military E type fuzehead crimped into a copper tube with a vent hole in the side. The
tube has an integral stop to ensure correct fitting to safety fuse. ISFE are packed 100 to a steel tin, with five tins
packed in an H83 steel ammunition container. The inner pack is ideal for use in a field environment. The wires are
twisted to increase resistance to RF.
Instantaneous Fuze L1A1
The fuze consists of a semi-fuze made from glazed Kraft paper twisted yarn coated with sulphurless metal powder and
then wound with yarn and protected by an outer light brown polyethylene covering. The fuze is supplied in 70 metre
lengths on a metal spool and packaged in an H83 steel ammunition container. The diameter is 5.2 mm with a small
tactile marker along the length. The product conforms to drawing TX1242 and specification LW1. Uses include
battlefield simulation and inoculation, and field applications where minimum initiation delay is required.
Detonating Cord L5A1
This product together with L1A2 and L2A2 detonators, ISFE, and the L10A1 det cord booster, form a versatile range of
initiating accessories. It is waterproof but care should be taken to keep the ends dry by using the sealing sleeves
provided. It is particularly important to ensure that the initiated end is dry. Once initiated L5A1 will continue to
propagate along wet lengths. It is good practice to initiate the cord 2 metres from the end in case moisture has
penetrated the cord. Use the junction clips provided to connect branch lines for multiple charges. Each reel contains
70 metres . To make joins in the field, overlap the cord at least 50mm and bind with tape. In case of misfires do not
re-enter the area for 10 minutes (electric firing) or for 30 minutes (safety fuse initiation).
