FOREWORD

The truth about deliverance from demonic oppressions and
activities became widely spread among Christians in Nigeria
from the early 1980s. Since then, many ridiculous and un-
scriptural even abominable things had been done in the name
of ministering deliverance from demonic oppressions to people
possessed or oppressed, by overzealous, many a time mis-
directed and wrongly motivated preachers and Christian work-
ers. Satan himself perpetrates his evil works by taking advan-
tage of ignorant and gullible Christians and the people at large.
In spite of all these bad sides, some genuine work of the Holy
Spirit was done. There were testimonies of people who were
delivered to some reasonable degree and set at liberty to
serve the Lord.

The revealed truths contained in the book in your hand
were given by the Lord, not only to show you the need to be
delivered from the demonic spirits, but to help also myriad of
Christians like you who had gone through long or short hours
of deliverance sessions; with little or no result to show for
them.
There are two important things that the Scripture expects
you to gain having gone through deliverance; HOLINESS of
heart, and POSSESSION of all your spiritual rights, and
privileges in God. Hear what Obadiah says: But upon
Mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holi-
ness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their posses-
sions. (Obadiah 1:17).
Mount Zion according to Paul is the true church of the
living God, where the spirits of just men (those who have been
justified by the blood of Jesus) are being made perfect;
(mature, in the likeness of Christ) here and now (Heb. 12:22-
23), but ye are come unto Mount Zion, and unto the city
of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem and to an
innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly
and church of the first-born, which are written in heaven,
and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men
made perfect. If these two important things promised you by
God, HOLINESS and POSSESSING your possession in God,
are absent in your life, in spite of all the great men who had
ministered to you at one time or the other, then you need to
understand and accept the truth of GENERATION CORDS AND
THEIR EFFECTS ON YOU without delay.

The road to TOTAL deliverance is not always easy. Any-
body who preaches or teaches otherwise is either ignorant or

is a deceiver, who is not gathering with Christ. There are
numerous preachers who are quick to shout peace, peace; to
stop conscientious Christians from declaring all-out war on the
manifestations and oppression of the kingdom of darkness that
are both visible and invisible in their lives. Here is what the
Word of God says about them in Ezekiel 13:10:
Because even because they have seduced my
people; saying peace; and there was no peace; and one
built up a wall, and, lo others dabbed it with untempered
mortar:
Also, in Jer. 6:14: They have healed also the hurt of the
daughter of my people slightly. Saying, peace, peace;
when there is no peace:

But you should not deceive yourself if others are trying to
deceive you. The way to deceive yourself is to continue to
claim that you are on your way to heaven, when, to the
contrary, the activities of the kingdom of darkness are so
pronounced in your life that you are of no earthly witness to
the salvation you profess.

Another way to self deceit is to assure yourself that Gods
demands in His Word are unattainable.

The entrance into a lasting and ever growing victorious
walk and spiritual liberty at all fronts and in your relationship
with the Lord, must begin with:

A. A sincere love of the unadulterated truth of the Word of
God.
B. A sensitive spirit, a broken and contrite heart that is ever
ready to turn to God in deep and genuine repentance (in
godly sorrow) whenever the Lord points to areas in your
life where you have erred (Ps. 51).
C. An attitude of a relentless war against demonic spirits that
take advantage of your situation or weakness to invade,
pollute, inflict and afflict you every time you open the doors
by sinning or through carelessness.
D. As you will discover in this book, your natural birth, past
and present sins, associations, family and religious rela-
tionships have provided for Satan and his demons cords or
spiritual ropes or bridges to journey in and out of your life
as many times as they wish.
Therefore, you must be ready to break these cords con-
sistently without being discouraged as the Holy Spirit

begins to tutor you in this challenging but rich and
rewarding journey on this new ground.
E. You will also learn how to reverse the curses that are
operating in your life as a result of the ungodly things you
have allowed into your life as enumerated in this book.
There are some excellent materials on curses and how to
reverse them, by Derek Prince; you should make effort to
get them. Let me say this to you with all seriousness:
Going through deliverance ministration, breaking of cords
and repenting from sins without also going further to
reverse the curses that are found to be operating in your
life as a natural consequence will not give you complete
freedom.
F. On the whole, I will encourage you to begin to learn daily
to abstain from all appearance of evil (1Thess. 5:22).
Your separation from people, things, and questionable
places that will bring you into bondage again, must be
avoided at all cost. The instruction in Ps. 1:1-3 must be
understood and lived out consistently and conspicuously
before God.
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of
the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor
sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in
the law of the LORD, and in His law doth he meditate
day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by
the rivers of water; that bringeth forth his fruit in his
season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever
he doeth shall prosper.

The word Church means called out people. Christians
are people called out of the world and the things of the world.
It should not be strange or difficult therefore for you to maintain
a simple life of separation to God; that He may freely reveal
and release Himself to you without reservation.

I counsel you to adhere strictly to these Words from the
Scripture: Wherefore the rather, give diligence to make
your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye
shall never fall: for so an entrance shall be ministered
unto you abundantly into the everlasting Kingdom of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2Peter 1:10-11).

CHAPTER ONE

Generation Cords

THE LORD IS RIGHTEOUS, HE HATH CUT
ASUNDER THE CORDS OF THE WICKED (Ps. 129:4)

CORDS, as we shall examine in this book are demonic
ropes that Satan uses in tying people to himself and his
kingdom. This he does through your natural birth, social
and spiritual relationships. That is, associating with people,
such as your parents, grandparents, guardians, close or
distant relations, acquaintances, teachers that you have
sat under at one time or the other, pastors and preachers
(those ones who themselves are servants of corruption,
even though they claim to be servants of Christ) (2Pet.
2:12-19). Satan does this to create various problems for
us in our walk with God and in our journey towards
heaven. These cords or links give him a firm grip to control
and influence things that happen to us in our Christian
experiences, family relationships, finances, and our day-to-
day activities.

For example, in the natural realm between a baby in
the womb and the mother, there exists what is called an
UMBILICAL CORD that ties the baby to the mother.
Through this the babys life is regulated and controlled by
the life of the mother. Likewise, experiences in ministering
have shown that people are tied spiritually to their parents,
people, things, and places. They are tied to the spirits
ruling their villages or towns and associations, be it cult-
ural, social or cultic association; even born again Christ-
ians are not exempted from this fact. People in such con-
ditions need to be set free; the cords need to be broken.
We often use such phrase as TIED TO THE APRON
STRINGS OF HIS/HER MOTHER to describe a person
who is heavily dominated, influenced and controlled by
his/her mother.
Barbara Sullivan, in her book YOUR PLACE IN THE
FAMILY, wrote that, the youngest child, whether boy or
girl, is the one most likely to be tied to the mothers apron
strings, whether he or she wants to be or not. From the
Christians perspective, I see this apron string as a spirit-
ual umbilical cord that needs to be cut before the adult-
child can come into the fullness of his life in Christ. This is
especially true in marriages; until both partners break that

cord, it is impossible for the couple to experience the
oneness that God intends. Sometime ago, I sensed that
my sister Jeannie, the third and youngest in our family,
needed to be released from a type of bondage to our
mother. At that time she felt no such need, but promised
she would be open for God to show her if such a problem
existed. Several months later Jeannie woke one morning
in a state of deep depression for which she could not
account. She began weeping, unable to stop. After her
baffled husband left for work, Jeannie stood at the sink
washing the breakfast dishes, her tears falling into the
dishwater. The only upheaval in her life was this: Mother
had left the state that very morning for a vacation in
Florida.
Jeannie, a nurse, instantly recognized that she was
suffering from a classic case of separation anxiety, such
as young children experience when they are separated
from their mothers. And then she recalled our conversa-
tion of some months before. Silently she prayed releasing
mother to the Lord and asking God to break the spiritual
bondage between them. As mysteriously as it had come,
her depression lifted.

In like manner, people are tied to the apron strings of
Satan in this ways. In the past, while ministering deliver-
ance to those who were oppressed and harassed by
demonic spirits, I found out that many were not completely
HELPED because this truth of first identifying and breaking
cords as a necessary step to deliverance was not known to
me. Many long hours were spent without breakthroughs or
tangible result. Then the Lord began to show me that cords
are like bridges that exist in the realm of the spirit that
demons always use to come back to a persons life as
many times as possible, as long as the bridges/cords are
not broken.

Here is a testimony of a brother: It was in the year
1988, I was on a leave, so I was waiting on the Lord. I
needed answers to many things that were facing me. A
major one on the list was my inability to provide financially
for my family of six. 1.Tim 5:8 adequately described my
status at that time. But if any provide not for his own,
and specially for those of his own house, he hath
denied the faith and is worse than an infidel.

My wife was financially stronger than I and she was
carrying a major chunk of the familys burden. I first did not

see anything particularly wrong with this. But then, it per-
sisted more than necessary and all frantic efforts in many
directions to change this oppressive situation were either
met with temporary relief or total failure. At this point I
began to sense that I might be under the attack of demons
of poverty. I did all I knew to get rid of them. I submitted
myself for deliverance ministrations, confessed Gods
Word, prayed and denounced the enemy many times over,
but the situation only improved slightly. There was no
breakthrough as Psalm 129:4-5 has declared: The Lord
is righteous, he hath cut asunder the cords of the
wicked, let them all be confounded and turned back
that hate Zion.

Not until the Lord began to show to me the things that
were responsible for these situations in my life and I took
steps to deal with them, was I able to have breakthroughs.

First, what were the things responsible? My father was
a polygamist, my stepmother being the first wife and my
mother the second. It is a well known fact that in such a
home the younger wife would try to make her impact felt
more than the first, thinking she was the bonafide owner of
the man. My mother, like every other woman who is a
second or third wife was not an exception to this.

So the first thing the Lord asked me to do was to
repent on her behalf for all she did to hurt the first wife.
The second thing the Lord showed me was the weakness
in my fathers life. I knew that my father (now deceased)
loved me and did many things for me to express his love
for me as well as his other children; but he invested little or
nothing in our educational development. My mother was
the one responsible for my education. She was quite cap-
able, and being her only son, sending me to school was no
problem to her. My father just did not bother. On some
occasions I overheard my stepmother complaining that my
father did not give her money for her maintenance. Since
my mother was a trader and had enough to take care of
herself and her children, he was not really concerned
about giving her money regularly for the upkeep of the
home. Speaking frankly, he was a nice man in many
respects but this area of his life was something he seemed
to be helpless about. Until the Lord began to unfold these
facts to me I did not realize that this weakness in my father
had a spiritual side to it and was affecting my home and
me. The Lord revealed that the way my father conducted

his home affair, leaving room for my mother to provide for
the home gave Satan the chance to establish a hold on the
family and on the children who grew under such environ-
ment.
Therefore, what was happening in my home was a play
back or reaping of the harvest of the seed sown by my
father in his home. This became clearer to me with the
Scripture, which records that Isaac told a lie in an attempt
to save himself from being killed, while his wife (Rebecca)
was to be taken by the men of Philistines for their king as a
wife. (Gen. 26:6-9). The same way, his father Abraham
earlier told a lie in similar circumstances about his wife
(Sarah) to save himself from being killed, while his wife
was to be taken by the Egyptian king.
And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he
had sheep and oxen and asses, and men servants, and
maidservants, and asses, and camels. And the Lord
plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues
because of Sarai Abrams wife. And Pharaoh called
Abram and said, what is this that thou has done unto
me? Why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife
(Gen. 12:16-18).

Then I knew that if I did nothing to break this evil hold
on me, I would never be able to have enough to provide for
my home, and my wife would continue to meet the
substantial needs of our home. This outstanding revelation
was all I needed to appreciate the fact that my situation
was not something I could continue to fight plainly on the
human level. The enemy had taken the advantage of my
fathers lifestyle and sin to bind me to himself. The way out
was not that simple. But I started by sharing what the Lord
has shown to me with my wife, first as a confession and
then for both of us to begin to wage a definite war against
what we now know as a cord of affliction. Since then we
have seen tremendous changes in this area of our lives.

There is a need for you to take time, to be in a place
where you can hear God tell you things that really pertain
to your spiritual prosperity. God would not tell you these
things that will set you free, if you do not take enough time
to seek HIM. I am saying this from experience; God is not
just calling you out of sin, but out of everything that binds
you to Satan and his kingdom. It takes conscious effort
and time to discover areas of bondage in your life. Taking
a good look at your family background is definitely neces-
sary. You might have inherited marital problems from your

parents, that is why your marriage has not been a happy
one; or it is the cord of poverty that you have inherited from
your family background. You just work and work, yet you
are not making any headway.

For some, their parents are herbalists. They might
have been involved in pagan rituals, and occult groups and
practices. And if you do not address the cords linking you
with all these, your attempt to grow in the things of the Lord
will be met with stiff resistance from the enemy. Manifesta-
tions of cords, as the Lord is revealing to His people today,
must be taken with all seriousness by any one who wants
to live a full and rich life in Christ and be part of the
spotless Bride of Christ.

CHAPTER TWO

A Christian Can Be
Held With Cords

There are some people who may object to or doubt this
truth, that a Christian can be held with cords. They have
been taught religiously that once you are born again, you
are free from these things. I wish it were so. But the
Scripture as well as the past and present day experiences
of church members all over the world have proved such
religious idea to be a product of human mind. If you are
sincere, you would agree that you are not yet free from all
the things the Bible promises that you could be free from,
since you got born again. The Bible says that the righteous
could be held in cords. And when this happens (when a
born again Christian is held in cords), then God in His
mercy shows them to him.

Let us now consider the passage in the Scripture from
Job 36:5-13:

v.5: Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any:
he is mighty in strength and wisdom.
v.6: He preserveth not the life of the wicked but
giveth right to the poor.
v.7: He withdraweth not his eye from the right-
eous, but with kings are they on the throne. Yea he

doth establish them forever. And they are exalted.
(Who are THEY? The righteous are THEY)
v.8: And if they, (THE RIGHTEOUS) be bound with
fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;
v.9: Then HE sheweth them their work, and their
transgressions that they have exceeded (Job 36:5-9).
I have heard people say Christians cannot be held in
cords, they cannot be bound. Fetters mean chains or
cords of affliction. THEN HE SHEWETH THEM. (v.9).
v.10: He openeth also their ear to discipline, and
commandeth that they return from iniquity.
v.11: If they, (THE RIGHTEOUS) obey and serve
him, they shall spend their days in prosperity and their
years in pleasure.
v.12: If they (THE RIGHTEOUS) obey not, they
shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without
knowledge.
v.13: But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath;
they cry not when he bindeth them.

It is hypocrisy, if not ignorance, that makes one chal-
lenge the fact that a Christian could be held captive. In
other words, they (the hypocrites) cry not for deliverance or
help when God shows them. When God shows that you
are in sin and in cords and you fail to cry to Him for help
and deliverance, then you are a hypocrite. That was why
the Lord called the Pharisees hypocrites - Jesus said if He
had not come they would not have had sin, but since He
had come and they (the Pharisees) still said they had not
sin, then they would die in their sins (John. 8:21,24).
When God shows you that there is a problem in your life,
and you reply that there is no problem, then you are a
hypocrite of the highest order. You are not only deceiving
others, but have successfully deceived yourself. The
greatest hypocrisy is the self-deceit.

I am trying to show you that the righteous could be
held in cords. The righteous could be held in cords of
iniquity or affliction, and the Bible says God would show
them. That is a promise. The Bible says He would open
their eyes, and would instruct them. If they obeyed by
repenting and breaking them, the cords would be broken
and they would live their years in pleasure (spiritual liberty
- serving in the joy of the Lord) and in prosperity.

No wonder a lot of Christians struggle and struggle with
little or nothing to show for it. If you are not spiritually pros-
perous, any other area of life you may seem to be prosper-
ing is merely presenting a false front.
The Bible principle is the following: Beloved; I wish
above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in
health even as thy soul prospereth (3Jn. 1:2).

Your SOUL. Do you truly know what it means to have
spiritual riches? Are you truly rich towards God? Do you
want God to make that, which you have, to be abundantly
enough for you? Do you desire to live within the means of
that, which you have while the man who is earning more
than you do or getting more than you get, is envying you
because you are doing more with what you have than what
he is doing with his?

CHAPTER THREE

Socio-Cultural Cords

Socio-cultural cords are those cords that tie us to
where we are born, where we live, or had lived, friends we
make, the society we belong to, the school we attended or
are attending, etc. Let me use some illustrations to explain
this.
After the children of Israel had crossed River Jordan,
God told Joshua to circumcise the new generation that was
ready to enter the Promised land. In Joshua 5:9, God said
to them THIS DAY HAVE I ROLLED AWAY THE RE-
PROACH OF EGYPT FROM OFF YOU. Yet, these ones
never lived in Egypt, but their parents did and imbibed the
spirit of Egypt. God had to break the hold (cord) of the
spirit of Egypt tying them. That was one of the major
reasons their parents did not make it to the Promised land.
There were spiritual cords that tied them to the life of Egypt
and kept on reminding them of the food, the garlic, the
onions and the watermelons of the Egyptians. There was
that constant hunger and desire to go back to Egypt. The
enemy used the cords to pull them away from Gods path
to himself, to their own hurt.

Another example is when I was praying for a sister
regarding certain situation in her life. The Lord showed me

then that the force responsible for the situation was the
demon spirit that ruled over the area where her office was
located. In a book like this I am careful not to go into too
many details in order to protect the name of the person
involved as well as the area in question. With this reve-
lation, I took the authority over the spirit releasing the
sisters mind from its grip and influence. I can truthfully and
happily report that since then the sister has never been the
same again.

Associations / Movements

Over the years and through observation and involve-
ment with many Christians and ministers, I have come to
be convinced of cords through associations and move-
ments. There are some Christian bodies that have their
background rooted in strife, poverty and sexual scandal.
Majority of ministers, leaders and members of such bodies
are poverty ridden, victims of sexual scandals, etc. In a
situation like this, even where these people are ministered
to in the area of deliverance from demonic spirits of
poverty, lust and adultery, they are not fully released until
they wait on the Lord as individuals. This reveals causes
and sources of their problems traceable to the spiritual or
umbilical cord linking them to the unfortunate beginning of
their denominations and leaders.

Edwin and Jody Mitchell observed in their book The
Two Headed Dragon of Africa that Although in the USA
and other Western countries, Masons represent to follow
the Christian God, (that) the opposite is true. Few Masons
have any idea that the great architect of the universe to
whom they pray is Lucifer, not the Supreme God of the
Bible. That Albert Pike, Sovereign Pontiff of Universal
Freemasonry has in fact stated that: LUCIFER IS GOD.
It is the same Albert Pike who said in Morals and
Dogma of the Freemasonry that Masonry (is that religion)
around whose altars the Christian, the Hebrew, the
Moslem, the Brahman (Hindu), the followers of Confucius
and Zoroaster can assemble as brethren and unite in
prayer. Your guess of who they pray to is as good as
mine.

Therefore, the Christian whose parents belong to such
association or who used to be members, should seek God
to know which cords to break. It has also been confirmed
that membership of Greek alphabet letter fraternities and

other shades of cults with varying pretensions in colleges
are training grounds for occultism.

Membership in Communities

When you were born in a community, you became
naturally (by birth) a member of that community. By virtue
of your unpronounced membership of that community, you
became bound (whether you are aware of it or not) to the
spirits that rule over that community. You might have
observed that in many communities, consultations with
oracle and demonic rituals are made to initiate a new baby
formally into their membership. In some communities, it is
an age group celebration, or a particular festival that is
observed for this purpose. This truth applies to village,
clan, town, state and national backgrounds. This is why
you have certain persistent weaknesses in your character
and life that are also visible in the lives of the other
members of the community with which you are identified.

What Paul wrote about Cretians in Tit. 1:12-13 clarifies
this point. One of themselves, even a prophet (a poet,
not a prophet of God, from original translation) of their
own, said, the Cretians are ALWAYS liars, evil beasts
slow BELLIES (idle gluttons). This witness is true,
wherefore REBUKE them sharply (reprove them, expose
their sins, and bring them under conviction) that they may
be sound in the faith.
Note that the Cretians addressed here were part of the
church; they were born-again Christians. If it were not so,
Titus would not have been charged to rebuke them
sharply that they be sound in the faith.
Also note that Crete is either a province or a nation on
its own. For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou
shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and
ordain elders in every city as I had appointed thee
(Titus 1:5).
Crete must have been composed of many cities. That
is the reason Titus was asked to ordain elders in every city
of Crete.

Having explained the points above, let me go back to
the original line of thought. Cretians are said to be
ALWAYS (incurable) liars, evil beasts (wicked) and slow
BELLIES (idle gluttons). Even after they had come under
the influence of the Gospel and church life, they still

needed to be given special attention (sharp rebuke). No
doubt, as a nation it had its history rooted in lying, wicked-
ness and gluttony - which were consistently manifested in
the characters and lives of the majority of its citizens. This
is therefore the spiritual cord giving Satan a hold to control
their lives, and to pull them down constantly from their hard
earned spiritual victories, or head back to their old ways of
living: wickedness, and gluttony which resulted in their not
being sound in the faith.

Let me add the following observation, also, what I once
read, to further illustrate this point. Octopus is a sea creat-
ure with many tentacles, reaching out in many directions.
While you are freeing yourself from one she is busy closing
in with another. This reflects the way Satan works with
cords in binding people to himself.

Some Christians who were earnestly praying for revival
in their land for many months related that in one of their
prayer sessions, the Lord gave them a spiritual vision of an
octopus-like creature hovering over their Capital city with
many of its tentacles firmly griping the inhabitants of the
city. The Lord then explained that what they saw was the
principality that ruled over their land, with every one under
its influence and control. They were attached to it through
various political, religious, economic, social and cultural
(these represent myriad of hands of the creature) activities
that were going on in their land.


Cords through personal sins and friends

And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a
strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a
stranger? For the ways of man are before the eyes of
the Lord, and he pondered all his goings. His own
iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be
holden with the cords of his sins, he shall die without
instruction: and in the greatness of his folly he shall
go astray. (Prov. 5:20-23).

The Bible is asking why would you be ravished with a
strange woman? (Stranger to Gods covenant is somebody
who does not know God). Why would you embrace the
bosom of a stranger? Why would you lust after a strange
woman? If it resulted in an actual sin with her, then it is not
only that you went into the woman sexually, and came out,

but also that there is a cord that bind you to the woman.
The Bible says that anyone who goes in to an harlot
becomes one spirit with the harlot, (1Cor. 6:16); a spiritual
cord is established. When you stopped, your sin did not
stop with the action. It went on to bind you. There are
cords that bind you to every sin.

Even when a man, with or without any lustful intention,
begins to associate with a woman that has lustful spirit
through office or even church work or social contacts and
becomes an intimate friend to her, what happens? The
spiritual rope, or cord of lust that comes from that woman,
through the demon of lust jumps from her and begins to
bind the man and winds him to her. When you are tied in
such a way in your soul, your falling into fornication or
adultery is a matter of time. Except remedy is applied fast,
you will certainly fall.

The Bible is asking why should you embrace a strange
woman? To embrace a strange woman is to give affection
and attention reserved for marital relationship to a woman
you are not married to. Her lustful cord will take hold of you
and you will die, says the Bible, without instruction (Gods
leading and direction) and in the greatness (at the pinnacle
of your achievement) of your folly you will go astray from
God. The Bible says that evil communication, that is,
association and friendship, corrupts good manners. (1Cor.
15:33) Beware with whom you become intimate; if he is a
liar you are going to get hooked to that lying spirit.

Sexual sin is one of the most terrible things in the life of
any Christian. When you fall a prey to it, you are destroy-
ing yourself and allowing the devil to establish a cord of in-
iquity to hold your children and the generation yet unborn;
and you become a polluting influence on your close
friends, spreading contagious spiritual disease. If you find
yourself falling into adultery or fornication repeatedly in
spite of your repentance and crying, and even church
discipline, you may need to check whether you have a cord
hanging over you. If you are sincere and diligent about
discovering the root, it may probably be traced back to the
first woman you had an illicit sexual contact with. Even a
girl or boy you played innocent sexual game with when you
were just small. On the other hand, you may trace it to
your parents or one of them or any of your past or present
friends who has that spirit and has passed it on to you by
your close association with him.

I remember the case of a sister while she was in the
University. Her roommate was in the habit of making
audible sounds and bodily movements in the nights, which
suggested a woman under a man. While this would be
going on, the sister would lie awake watching and wonder-
ing what on earth was happening to her roommate. The
effect of this ungodly scene and oppressive atmosphere
over this sister was that after some time she started to
have the experience of her roommate. The demon
oppressing her roommate seized the opportunity of their
closeness in the same room to bind her with the same cord
of sexual immorality.

CHAPTER FOUR

Family Cords

As we look at the family cords, I am eternally grateful to
God and to the Holy Spirit for exposing what the enemy
has been using against His people in these last days of the
Church.

Many years ago, one of the things that the Lord
showed me while I was waiting on Him was the fact that
family as well as the personal name a person bears greatly
affects him or her. In my own case, one of my fathers
names was Osanyinbiyi. Osanyin is a god in YORUBA
Land. The Holy Spirit began to show me how Osanyin had
claim to a great extent over me, and what the consequen-
ces were if I did not nullify such claim: certain spiritual
things and realities would be incomprehensible and elusive
to me. There are other areas the Lord had shown me
some things about my family background; and I have been
dealing with them as the Lord releases His grace. The
more I deal with them the more I enter into the freedom of
serving and enjoying GOD. I discovered that if I did not get
delivered from all these things, if the cords were not broken
as the Lord revealed them to me, they would adversely
affect my walk with God. It would not matter how hard I
tried.

That was why most of the kings of Israel (the ten tribes
that formed the Northern Kingdom) tried to walk with God
but never did with a perfect heart. Their background that
was traceable through Omri down to Jeroboam was rooted
in rebellion (against the house of David, Gods chosen
king), idolatry and false worship (1Kings 12:16-33). It is
like many today who are still rebellious against King Jesus.
Some of the kings started well, making frantic efforts to
follow God, only to fall by the wayside.

The devil enjoys watching people climb and fall
because he has the ropes or cords that are traceable to
their family background in his hands. And he would never
relent in his effort to pull them down. This accounts for the
reason why having climbed up spiritual ladder, mounting
up with spiritual wings like the eagle, getting to a certain
point, one then crashes as the devil pulls the ropes. The
cords that give the enemy a hold over you must be broken.
The Lord who is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords
of the wicked. Let Him do it also in your life.

Good mixing with bad through marriage

And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab
king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah,
Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began
to reign. Thirty and two years old was he when he
began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jeru-
salem. And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel,
as did the house of Ahab; for the daughter of Ahab
was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the Lord.
(2King 8:16-18).

Beginning with Jehoram, a king from the South, from
the house of David, began to have evil kings to sit on the
throne of David. Why? It was because Jehoram went out
of his way to marry an evil seed from Ahabs house, the
Northern kingdom. You see the cord working again? Be
careful of who and from where you marry. You have
enough cords already in your own life to break. The solu-
tion to this, however, is to be led by the Lord in making
your choice. When you entered into marriage relationship
with your spouse, the cords from each ones background

are set at work to wreck your marriage. Pray to the Lord to
help you discover these cords in your own case. And as
He does, do something about them immediately.
Let me give you another example from Judahs family.

And Judah took a wife for Er his first born, whose
name was Tamar, And Er. Judahs first born, was
wicked in the sight of the Lord. and the Lord slew him.
And Judah said unto Onan. Go in unto thy brothers
wife and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.
And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it
came to pass, when he went in unto his brothers wife,
that he spilled it on the ground lest that he should give
seed to his brother; and the thing which he did
displeased the Lord wherefore He slew him also. Then
said Judah to Tamar, his daughter in law, remain a
widow at thy fathers house, till Shelah my son be
grown. For he said, lest per adventure he die also, as
his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her
fathers house. And in process of time the daughter of
Shuah, Judahs wife died, and Judah was comforted,
and went up unto his sheep shearers to Timnath; he
and his friend Hirah the Adullamite. And it was told
Tamar saying, Behold thy father-in-law goeth up to
Timnath to shear his sheep. And she put her widows
garments off from her, and covered her with a veil, and
wrapped herself and sat in an open place which is by
the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was
grown and she was not given unto him to wife. When
Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot,
because she had covered her face. And he turned
unto her by the way, and said, Go to, l pray thee, let me
come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his
daughter in law) And she said, what will thou give me,
that thou mayest come in unto me? And he said, I will
send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, wilt thou
give me a pledge, till thou send it? And he said, what
pledge shall I give thee? And she said, thy signet, and
thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And
he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she
conceived by him.
And she arose, and went away, and laid by her veil
from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood.

And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the
Adullamite, to receive his pledge from the womans
hand. But he found her not. Then he asked the men of
that place, saying, where is the harlot, that was openly
by the way side? And they said, there was no harlot in
this place. And he returned to Judah and said: I
cannot find her, and also the men of the place said,
that there was no harlot in this place, and Judah said,
let her take it to her, lest we be shamed. Behold, I sent
this kid, and thou hast not found her. And it came to
pass about three months after, that it was told Judah,
saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the
harlot, and also, behold she is with child by whore-
dom. And Judah said, bring her forth, and let her be
burnt. When she was brought forth, she sent to her
father-in-law, saying, by the man, whose these are, am
I with child. And she said: Discern, I pray thee, whose
are these the signet, and bracelets and staff. And
Judah acknowledged them and said: she hath been
more righteous than I, because that l gave her not to
Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more. And
it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold,
twins were in her womb, And it came to pass when she
travailed, that the one put out his hand, and the
midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet
thread saying: This came out first. And it came to
pass, as he drew back his hand, that behold, his
brother come out. And she said: how has thou broken
forth? This breach be upon thee: therefore, his name
was called Pharez. And afterward came out his
brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand, and
his name was called Zarah: (Gen. 38:6-30).

Judah was one of the twelve sons of Jacob, his tribe
was chosen for kingship in Israel (Gen. 49:8-10). This took
place several generations before the time of Samuel. And
it nullifies the thinking that God did not want to give Israel a
king, which led to the revolt against Samuel and the sub-
sequent choice of Saul. Below is the highlight of what took
place in Judahs life and family:

1. Judah started by marrying from the wrong people
(the Canaanites). He did not marry from his brethren of

the same faith but turned to a people of loose virtues. This
may explain why his first son, Er, was wicked before the
Lord.
2. A cord of iniquity, of sexual looseness and per-
version was established between Judah and the Canaan-
ites through his marriage to the daughter of Shuah (*the
Canaanites were well known in the Bible for their vile
living, which was the reason for which God destroyed them
before His people).
3. After the death of Er, the wicked one, Judah
instructed his second son, Onan, to raise a child for his
deceased brother by going in unto Tamar, Ers wife. He
(Judah) desired this in recognition of the fact that inherit-
ance must go to the first-born.
4. Onan recognized what his father was doing. He
knew that a seed raised through Tamar would not be his,
and the inheritance would go to the child, so he spilled the
seed on the ground, and God took his life for this act.
5. Judah, not sure of what would happen to his third
son, made a promise to Tamar he did not intend to fulfill:
Remain a widow at thy fathers house, till Shelah, my
son, be grown. (vs. 11)
6. Judahs wife died and this opened up the weakness
in him for the enemy to take advantage through his
daughter-in-law, Tamar.
7. Tamar, knowing that her father-in-law had deceived
her, decided not to be out-played. She took advantage of
Judahs situation, played harlotry, and trapped Judah into
the sin of incest.
8. This unholy union produced twins, namely, Pharez
and Zarah.
9. Pharez, the first-born was recognized in the lineage
of Judah according to the Scripture. The devil, knowing
that the tribe of Judah had been chosen by God to produce
kings for the children of Israel, made way for Judah to
commit sin of incest with Tamar, his daughter-in-law. This
paved way for Satan to establish a cord of iniquity in his
family and made him produce a bastard who would not be
able to claim the throne:

A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of
the Lord even to his tenth generation shall he not enter
into the congregation of the Lord. (Deut. 23:2)

In other words, in the Old Testament order a bastard
had no business coming before the Lord. Yet the kings
anointing was to enable him stand before God for his
people, as a deliverer. However God made a provision that
restored such a lineage after ten generations. The implica-
tion here is that Judah, who was to produce kings for the
nation of Israel, had sinned; he had produced a bastard as
the only heir to the throne. Therefore, the people of Israel
would have to wait for ten generations before a king could
come forth. You may remember that God has already
made provision that Israel would have kings.
And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of
her, Yeah I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of
nations, kings of people shall be of her. (Gen. 17:16).

When thou art come unto the land which the Lord
thy God giveth thee, and shall possess it and shall
dwell therein, and shall say, I will set a king over me,
like as the nations that are about me, thou shalt in any
wise set him king over thee, whom the Lord thy God
shall choose, one from among thy brethren shalt thou
set king over thee, thou mayest not set a stranger over
thee, which is not thy brother. But he shall not multiply
horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to
Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: for
as much as the Lord hath said unto you, ye shall
henceforth return no more that way. Neither shall he
multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away.
Neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and
gold. And it shall be when he sitteth upon the throne
of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this
law in a book out of that which is before the priests the
Levites: and it shall be with him, and he shall read
therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear
the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and
these statutes, to do them: (Deut. 17:4-19)

Because of Judahs sin, God had to wait for ten gener-
ations. But Israel could not. They asked for Saul. It was not

that God was not willing to give them a king, but they were
asking for a king when He was not ready for obvious
reasons. God had already said he would give them kings
from the tribe of Judah. Judah, thou art he whom thy
brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of
thine enemies: thy fathers children shall bow down
before thee. (Gen. 49:8). But He has to give Saul to
them from the tribe of Benjamin according to their heart.
(1Sam. 10:20-21).

Now we come back to Judahs generation from Pharez
to king David. And Judah begat Pharez and Zarah of
Tamar; and (1) Parez begat Esrom (2); and Esrom
begat Aram (3); and Aram begat Aminadab (4) and
Aminadab begat Naasshon (5); and Naasshon begat
Salmon (6); and Salmon begat Boaz (7) of Rachab, and
Boaz begat Obed (8) of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse (9)
and Jesse begat David (10) the king... (Matt 1:3-6).

When you count the generations starting from Parez,
David was the tenth generation. Let us look at Ruth 4:18-
22, Now these are the generations of Parez (1) Parez
begat Heron (2); and Heron begat Ram (3), and Ram
begat Aminadab (4), and Aminadab begat Naasshon
(5), and Nilsson begat Salmon (6), and Salmon begat
Boaz (7), and Boaz begat Obed (8), and Obed begat
Jesse (9), and Jesse begat David (10).

As I said earlier, God had to wait for ten generations
because of what Judah did. It then means that God could
have given them a king before this time.
The book of Judges would not have been written be-
cause God would have given them a king instead of
judges. The book of Judges is a testimony to the failure of
man to govern himself without Gods divine order. It testi-
fies that when there was no king in Israel everyone did
what was right in his own sight. (Judges 17:6) God allowed
the book of Judges to show that man cannot govern
himself without Him. David came to the scene at the tenth
generation.
But before we go on, let us consider here another fact:
And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and
behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and

ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads and his
tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did
cast them to the earth... (Rev. 12:3,4) The fact I want
you to see here is that the devil always goes after stars,
seeking to pull them down. Who are the stars? There are
three kinds of stars that I have seen in the Bible:

1) The sons of God, who are growing into maturity.
These are called stars in the spirit realm. Jesus Christ is
the bright morning star. We are patterned after Him to be
bright morning stars, and this applies to those that
overcome (Rev. 2:28). In other words, we are going to
become like Him, the Star. But Jesus is also The Sun.
The Bible says, the Sun of righteousness shall arise with
healing in His wings. (Malachi 4:2) When you read Reve-
lation Chapter 12, the woman crowned with twelve stars
(signifying the twelve apostles) and clothed with the Sun is
the Church, the holy Church, the true Bride of Christ. The
devil will try all he can to pull down the stars of God by his
tail, through his false prophets and teachers (Is. 9:13-16),
He would want to pull down the people of God, those who
are growing into maturity. May he never succeed. Amen.

2. Another set of people the Bible recognizes as stars
are those who are first born of each family (Gen. 49:3). If
you search the Scripture well you would discover that the
devil always wars against the first born ones. That is why
the first born ones must make an extra effort to follow God.

3. The third kind are those whom the Lord had chosen
to attain to a place of prominence in their families. When
you become important in your family through the Lords
grace, you become a star of that family. The devil will be
after you; he is always after the stars to destroy.

It is an established fact that the devil is interested in
pulling down stars. David, the tenth generation, became
the star of the family by the Lords choice and anointing,
and a star also in the Kingdom of God. When you look at
Davids life, you will discover that his life history is not
complete without the history of adultery, both in his home
and in his life. What I am showing you is that the cord of
adultery and incest from Judah caught up with David. The

seed, or the cord of adultery in Judah which the devil
planted was only lying low, dormant until a star would
rise, so that he could cast him down with the cord.

You may belong to one of these categories, and as a
Christian you are really zealous to follow God. But most of
the things behind your family background would not allow
you. They surface when you are almost succeeding or you
are determined to succeed in whatever God has called you
to do. If you have the history of adultery in your family,
now that you are a Christian, you are the one the devil is
going to target more. He was all the while waiting so as to
strike appropriately in the case of Israel and David as her
King.

Satan had two strategies: first, he said, before God
could raise a king for His people, at least nine generations
would have to pass without one. And second, when God
finally raised that king at the tenth generation, his cord was
there to deal with the king. David committed adultery with
Bathsheba (2Sam. 11:3,4). You see! That thing was wait-
ing for him. But the Bible says, the eyes of the Lord are
with the righteous. The Lord says that He would establish
the righteous and exalt him. (Job 36:7). This He fulfilled in
the life of David. But then, God says: I will open his eyes
to see, if there be any fetters or cords so that they can
be broken. (Job 36:8-10).

The cords in your life will certainly come to the surface
when you begin to climb or have climbed the ladder of
success. Then the devil pulls the strings. I used to get
worried when I became a Christian. I was determined to
follow the Lord, but I was faced with problems, with the
devil, with sin, and with self. I do not know about you. But
many things I never thought were in my life, began to
surface. The things I did not perceive before in my life,
were there. Davids own thing was adultery with Bath-
sheba, but one of his sons, Amnon, committed incest with
Tamar, his half-sister and Davids daughter. (2Sam. 13).
Remember that the name of Davids great, grandmother
was Tamar (Gen. 38:6). David named his daughter Tamar
after her, and the spirit of incest in that Tamar, the great
grandmother, came on her great-grand-daughter Tamar.

The name you bear can be a cord in your life, linking
you with many generations and the sin or the way of life of
the person you were named after. I have seen this person-
ally. There was a lady I ministered to along with another
brother. This lady was named after her grandmother and
everything that happened to her grandmother in her life-
time was happening to her. The day we were ministering
to her, the spirit in her said: I dedicated her, she is mine,
and you cannot take her from my hand. I have given her
the spirits of poverty, of spinsterhood and of death. And
because she was given this womans name, the spirit that
possessed her grandmother when she was alive, had
taken residence in her.

A friend of mine told me of a man in his church. The
mans name was George (not his real name), he was
named after his grandfather but God showed to him that
the name had connected him to his grandfathers problems
and curses. He needed, therefore, to go through deliver-
ance ministration to break the cord through the name. My
friend went on to say that each time they got to the point
where he was to say: I renounce being called George,
he was not able to call out that name. He struggled and
struggled but was not able to call that name. What
happened was, the demons held his tongue so that he was
not able to call that name. It was not that the man did not
want to, but he could not. He had to fast for three days,
after which his tongue was loosed to renounce the name
George.
Do you remember Absalom? He was another son of
David, who slept with his fathers wives openly before all
Israel (2Sam. 16:22). And another son of his, Adonijah,
asked for his fathers (Davids) wife Abishag (1Kings 2:17).
Solomon had to kill him for this. David himself said: The
spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my
tongue. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel
spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just,
ruling in the fear of God. And He shall be as the light
of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning
without clouds, as the tender grass springing out of
the earth by clear shining after rain. Although my
house be not so with God (2Sam. 23:2-5).

In other words, Davids house was not a perfect testi-
mony to the Lord. His shining for God was not without

some clouds. All that God promised him, he could not
fully realize. David traced his fall to the generation cords
that bound him when he was in his mothers womb. He did
not say, I fell because I was careless with a woman. But
he said in Psalm 51:5: Behold, I was shapen in iniquity;
and in sin did my mother conceive me.

You need to personally pray to the Lord concerning this
to show you the cords in your life. When I shared this
message with people, I have always told them to pray and
ask the Lord to show them. They have always come back
with the cords in their lives, which God showed them.

I was sharing this with a sister who was persistently
falling into a particular sin. I recognized a cord in her life: I
told her that if she did not discover and break the cord, she
would keep falling into this same sin. The devil would keep
pulling the strings. After two weeks, she came back to say
that the Lord took her back to the root of the sin. The Lord
opened her eyes to see where it started; her mother was a
victim of the same sin. Her mother gave birth to her out-
side of wedlock. It is very instructive when the Bible says,
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen...
(Rev. 2:5). The Lord then told her to deal with the root
that is, the cord. She did and she was delivered.

Abraham and the Levites

And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth
tithes, paid tithes in Abraham, For he was yet in the
loins of his father, when Melchisedec met Him (Heb.
7:9-10).
This is a positive cord. The Bible says Abraham (then
Abram) met king Melchisedec (Gen. 14:20), and paid
tithes. About four hundred years later or more, his sons
who were not yet born when he did that, were seen as
having also paid tithes. God recognized that the Levites
did. Therefore, the Levites were never commanded to pay
tithes as priests because in Abraham they paid.

Let us look at the negative side. Before we were born,
many of us, our great-grandparents or parents had bowed
down before idols and committed us to them and maybe
had pledged our lives to this or that god. These pledges or
promises made by your grand parents or parents while you
were still not born gave the enemy legal right to your life.
That is why many a time, you stretch out to grab something

and those forces pull you back, particularly when you have
become a Christian and you have done nothing about
breaking your cords.

The life of Gideon

Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord,
and called it Jehovah Shalom: unto this day it is yet in
Ophrah of the Abiezrites. And it come to pass the
same night, that the Lord said unto him, take thy
fathers young bullock, even the second bullock of
seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that
thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it.
And build an altar unto the Lord thy God upon the top
of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second
bullock and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the
grove which thou shalt cut down. (Judges 6:24-26)

God called Gideon to go on an assignment for Him. It
was an important assignment. Gideon accepted it after the
initial dialogue with the angel that appeared to him. He
then built an altar for God. An altar is a place of worship,
dedication, sacrifice and submission to the will of God. In
other words, Gideon was already submitting himself to do
the will of God. But God stopped him and told him to first
pull down the altar his father had built to Baal, a demon
god. This showed that Gideon could not build an altar for
God when his father had another altar where Gideon had
been dedicated. I am sure that God would say the same
thing to you today, whoever you are, Go break down the
altars that your fathers had built, where you have been
dedicated, before you can build me another altar.

This is where many Christian ministers, missionaries
and workers have missed it. That is why your Christian life
and service to God are not what they should be; you are
really struggling to serve the Lord, but it is just that a
STRUGGLE. I have discovered that serving God should
not be a struggle, there could be temptations, there could
be tests, but it should not be just a struggle. You should
be enjoying God while you have problems with the world.
You see, if I can keep on enjoying God every day, I can
absorb any trouble that comes from the outside. It does
not matter what it is. When I know that God is for me, it
would not matter to me what people call me or do to me;
because I know I am in a direct communion with God and
receiving His help every day. Many are in a hurry to go out

there and serve God or rather themselves, their ego and
personal ambition without settling the claim of the enemy in
their lives. That is why there are so many scandals, un-
timely deaths or shipwrecks in ministries and churches in
our days.
You need to ask God to show you where these cords
are in your life and break them. God will definitely show
you the areas where you need to be set free, where you
are bound. The moment you break them, you will begin to
walk in freedom. There was a young lady who wanted to
divorce her husband, and she went to a minister for
counseling. The minister asked her if her mother was a
divorcee? And she said YES, that her mother divorced
her father after having three children for him. (Here she
was also wanting to divorce her husband after having three
children with her husband). Then the minister told her that
if she divorced her husband, her own daughter too would
get married and divorce her husband after having three
children. This shook her to the core of her being.

Sometime ago, I visited with a friend his village, and his
people told us of an incident that happened in the village.
Just before our arrival, two men had a fight and after the
third day of the fight, one of the men took a knife and went
to the others house and stabbed him to death. When the
history of the killer was traced, it was not difficult for the
villagers to remember that his mother (the mother of the
killer) also fought a woman in the village in the past and
killed her by stabbing.

You can see for yourself how cords work very power-
fully in the lives of men and women.

CHAPTER FIVE

Religious Cords

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the
righteous do? (Ps. 11:3) In other words, if the foundations
had not been properly laid, if they are wrong foundations,
what can or should the righteous do? The righteous should
uproot the foundations and lay another. Foundations are
fundamental truths of the Word of God on which your
Christian life and experiences are built upon.

Unfortunately, foundations of spiritual things are often
laid for us by other people in our churches or denominations.
More often than not, they embark on laying the foundation
for us according to their own brand of doctrine or teachings
peculiar to them and not necessarily based purely on the
Word but on the traditions of men. This is what the Lord
accused the Pharisees of His day of, saying: making the
Word of God of none effect through your traditions ,
(Mark 7:13). And He also charged them of compassing the
land and the sea only to make their followers two-fold more
the children of hell than they themselves. (Matt. 23:15).

Wrong foundations therefore constitute any stand you
take or have been taught to take or any experience you
claim to have that comes short of or is inconsistent with what
the Bible teaches from Genesis to Revelation; particularly
fundamental issues of the Scripture. In whomsoever wrong
foundations were laid, the Lord would uproot them, if such
an one is willing. In Psalm 119:28-29 the Psalmist said: My
soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me accord-
ing unto thy word. Remove from me THE WAY OF
LYING and grant me thy law graciously.

Mixed and damaging spiritual or religious foundations
had been laid for a lot of people in their past. Until these
wrong foundations are destroyed, and taken out of the way,
it would be difficult for the Lord to lay the right foundation in
such people. That is why you must come to Him, to ask Him
first to expose these foundations in you, and then walk with
the Lord until He has destroyed them. A new foundation can
and must be laid. Heb 6:3 says. And this will we do, if God
permit. Apostle Paul was talking about foundations. He said
that they would do (going on to perfection), if the Lord would
allow. Why would the Lord not allow? The Lord would not
allow a great work of the Spirit to be done in you, if the spirit-
ual foundation you have is a bag of mixture. Before the Lord
can do something in you and for you, He will check out your
foundations.

Apostle John says: The whole world lieth in the hand
of the wicked one (1John 5:19). He is not talking about
the physical world per se, he is talking about the systems of
the world; the cosmological system - things that govern the
world. The things that govern the world are, human, religious
systems, education, politics, commerce, sports, entertain-
ments, etc. The Bible says, all these things that govern the

world are in the hand of Satan, the wicked one. That means,
everything in this world has been designed to hinder you and
keep you from truly serving God, even as legitimate as these
things may be. The things that you think are necessary and
are important for you to have, are the very things that take
you away from God. If you love the world, (the things of the
world), then the love of God is not in you. (1John 2:15).
Friendship with the world is enmity with God. (James 4:4).
This is the declared stand of the Scripture.

Lets take few examples:

1. The Political System is arranged in such a way that
man could govern himself without God. Democracy is the
government of the people, by the people and for the people.
In other words, God is ruled out. The political system, no
matter what stream it follows, is a great tool in the hand of
the devil, to directly or indirectly rule man.

2. The Socio-economic System is one major reason
why a lot of people are not serving God today. The economic
gains and benefits that their social links and contacts bring to
them or may deny them, are strong considerations.

3. Educational System is being used by Satan to make
you independent of God. Do you realize it? To go to school
and be educated, so that one could live without Gods help,
is what the enemy intends to achieve through our school
system. As you go from the Primary and Secondary school
to University, the enemy aims at making you self-sufficient
and independent of God. This has been mans problem
since his fall. The more one is educated, the more difficult it
is for one to live and walk in the Spirit. This is because you
have been taught to rationalize everything, including God,
and to think out for yourself. You have been taught the skill
and the need to acquire the ability to find answers and solu-
tions to your problems without God. This is true. Educated
minds find it difficult to follow the Holy Spirit.

When you teach something from the Word of God, a man
with little or no education who desires to follow God in the
Church will quickly grab it with all his heart, because he is
following God with his spirit, and not with his head. Whatever
it is, he is ready to take it and work it out. But an educated
man, well, he is going to weigh it whether it agrees with the
human wisdom and knowledge he was fed in schools he
attended or still attends.

This is part of the foundations that were laid in you and
that hinders you from entering into the things of God by the
Spirit. The deep things of God only await those who are
dead, as it were, to EDUCATION (to efforts of man to
know, explain and realize himself, his environment and
purpose according to his experience). The Bible says, the
world by its wisdom does not know God (1Cor. 1:21). Many
people are so proud of the wisdom of this world, instead of
renouncing and denouncing its hold on them, so that they
can be free to have God teach them real knowledge. We
have gone through schooling and acquired what makes us
enemies of God. Am I saying that education is not good?
Of course not. But I am talking about foundations that have
been laid and should be destroyed, especially for those of us
who have been to higher institutions.
Do you know that the teachers who had taught you
secular or religious things, imparted to you not just their
knowledge but also their character and life styles? Jesus
said of His disciples. And for their sake I sanctify
myself: (I set myself apart so that what I impart to them
will be pure - John 17:19).

When you listen to a teacher or lecturer, you are soaking
from his life as well, whatever he is - good or bad. Many
people have sat under teachers, who are occultists. Some
have drunken from the well of atheists, from the well of
Moslems, from the well of people with all kinds of back-
grounds. These experiences established cords in you. Then
you turned to God without dealing with these things first, and
expected Him to lay the foundation of His Kingdom in you.
Naturally, there would be conflicts. Your heart yearns to get
into the deep things of the Lord, but you are prevented from
moving on. You pray and fast and it appears you are not
making the progress that you should make. Check every
teacher or lecturer you have ever sat under, check, if there is
not a cord binding you to him or her.

Apart from formal education, there are also other ways
through which information and knowledge are transferred to
us and characters are formed in us as a foundation for our
development. The principal of these is the electronic media
(particularly programming aimed at children) Films, books,
toys, computer games and even cartoons are included. All
these as well as the school systems in the Western world
have been infiltrated by New Age occult evangelists.

Dave Hunt and T. A. McMahon in their book The New
Spirituality, observed that Primitive pagan religious prac-
tices that were generally confined to underdeveloped Third
World countries (and were regarded in the West with
suspicion and ridicule only a few year ago) are now being
embraced by increasing millions of enthusiasts world-wide.
While occultism has become scientific, Eastern mysticism
and sorcery are taught blatantly in Montessori nursery &
primary schools, some private schools and in super execut-
ive seminars and conferences.
Either out of ignorance or in deliberate pursuit of know-
ledge, cords are established in these and other ways to tie
the various individuals to Satan and his kingdom.

There are two types of education, secular and religious.
Though the dividing line between the two is quickly dis-
appearing, some of us have little or no secular education
(this in itself is not a credit). But many Christians, having
been in a denomination or a congregation of some sort, have
received religious education. What the Scripture says in
Prov. 21:16 Congregation of the dead aptly describes
some of these denominations and congregations.

All life long, you have been drinking from that dead well
until you got born-again. And you added new water to the
older water springing out of the old well. Some have done
nothing better than this after their conversion. They joined
backslidden churches that have taken the pure Word of God
and mixed it with emotions, knowledge and human wisdom,
giving it to the people as spiritual food. You and I have been
under them for years, taking and receiving from them. This is
what constitutes wrong foundations. Now, when God begins
to tell us the real truth, the Kingdom truth, the lies and the
half-truths we have heard from our smart, very knowledge-
able teachers in the denominations began to fight the truth
revealed in you by God.

Woman, the Bible says, submit to your husband in all
things (Eph. 5:24). But you have heard in some churches
that it is a 50/50 proposition. These are the things the
Bible is talking about - wrong foundations. Psalm 119:29
says, Remove from me the way of lying. Everything you
have been taught that is not based purely on the Word of
God, or in agreement with it from Genesis to Revelations, is
a lie. Many preachers today are not doing better than Satan,
who sold half-truth as the whole truth to Eve in the Garden of
Eden.

Until these cords are broken and the foundations
destroyed, you cannot move on in the things of God. You
cannot enter and abide in the presence of God. Indeed, this
is captivity in your life. This is especially true for those of us
who have come from other religious backgrounds like
Ecanker, Islam and others, to the Church. You would dis-
cover that when you became a Christian and you did not
break the hold of the past religion over your life, the under-
current of such a religion, though subtle, is powerfully hinder-
ing your spiritual movement.

Such undercurrents, if not recognized for what they are,
have made many professed Christians and churches to
capitulate to the practices of New Age religion and to follow
evil involuntarily or unconsciously. The kind of dismissive
gospel of spiritual reality preached in some so-called church-
es only railroad Christians into taking placebos, such as the
one Apostle Paul described as ever learning and never
able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2Tim 3:7)
Yet, the Lord declared,: And ye shall know the truth and
the truth shall make you free (Jn. 8:32).

Ironically, the pervasive New Age religion sweeping
across America and Europe is confirming the reality of the
effects of generation cords. Hunt and McMahon noted that
the people are, no doubt, sick of the dry and empty ritual,
unspeakable hypocrisy and suffocating legalism of so many
churches of today and the brand of Christian religion
exported to Africa and other lands. Something within them
yearns for the presence of the true God, yet the god they are
embracing is not the God of the Bible, whom they have
learnt to despise and ridicule, but a god of their own fancy.
Satans agents are varied. They range from outright witch
doctors, Christian herbalists, unbelieving psychologists to
deft conmen, who specialize in merchandising the souls of
men.
Those souls are merely perplexed by the stampede into
Eastern mysticism, occultism and sorcery embedded in the
New Age religion in spite of professing Christian faith and
technological advancement that rests on science and ration-
alism. Nevertheless, any involvement with the New Age
religion, even within the confines of a church system, will
require breaking of cords in you, so that you may move on in
Christ.
I was a Moslem before I got converted and for almost
three years after my conversion, there was still this conflict in
my walk with God. Although I spoke in tongues, understood

and accepted the reality of Jesus Christ as my Savior and
Lord, yet I had some conflicting questions on my mind about
the supremacy of the Bible, such as: Do we have to dispose
of everything about Islam? Was not Mohammed also a
Prophet of God? Is not Quran also true? It was a great day
for me when I heard a godly Bible teacher declared:
If you had come from any religious background
different from the true faith of the Bible, then for years
after your conversion, those things you had been taught
and had experienced there will continue to hinder your
move into the deep things of God, in spite of your born-
again experience.

This truth spoken by this man liberated me, because this
was what I was experiencing for two to three years after my
conversion. I was very scared to share it with anybody for
fear of being misunderstood. I remember the day when I
was on my way to a Bible study class. While I was in a bus I
heard words behind me, very blasphemous words about
God. I was shocked and wondered where it had come from
since nobody was sitting behind me. Could it be from my
mind or was I hearing it outside of me? I became worried
and I thought, may be I was not yet born-again. But later I
got to know that it was the Islamic spirit, which is the spirit of
anti-Christ harassing my mind. He was there for almost 3
years after my conversion before the Lord finally delivered
me. This was one of the foundations that were laid in me.

Foundations include those things which you imbibed
from your parents or guardians, those things you were
taught by your teachers that you have not taken care of;
wrong foundations that were laid by your preachers and
pastors through the things they have taught you that you
have not taken care of; and you are trying to build on them
the new things that God is revealing to you. Can it work?
The Bible says you cannot put a new wine into an old wine
skin (Matt. 9:17). You cannot go on that way. In fact, if you
do, the Bible says, it will burst. You will appear to be follow-
ing initially, but along the way, there will be a bad burst. You
may be committed to your church or your fellowship and it
may appear to people that, for a time, you are really follow-
ing the Lord, but somewhere, as you wobble on, the tearing
will occur and you too will be surprised.
Remove from me the way of lying. (Ps. 119:29).

Lie is a way. Jesus says, He is the Way, the Truth, and
the Life (John 14: 6). The devil is the lie and also the way to

death. He is a father of all liars (Jn. 8:44). Whatever you
have been taught that falls below the truth of the whole
counsel of God, is a lie that God must remove from you. But
God will not do it until you cry and ask Him to remove it.

The secular education has taught us the ways of reason-
ing. For the preaching of the cross is to them that
perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the
power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom
of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding
of the prudent. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe?
Where is the disputer of the world? Hath not God made
foolish the wisdom of the world? For after that in the
wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it
pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save
them that believe. (1Cor. 1:18-21).
And also: Beware lest any man spoil you through
philosophy (human knowledge and reasoning) and vain
deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of
the world, and not after Christ. (Col. 2:8)

Rudiments mean principles. That is how a lot of people
have been robbed and spoiled by the enemy; robbed by the
things they used their money to acquire.
Let no man beguile you of your reward in a volunta-
ry humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into
those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by
his fleshly mind, and not holding the Head from which
all the body by joints and bands having nourishment
ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the
increase of God. (Col. 2:18-19)

This Word talks about the religious education you have
gotten from your denomination. Verse 8 of the passage
quoted above talks about the education we have had in the
world. The things that are imparted from the minds of other
people to our minds have a lot of spiritual implications and
complications. They need to be uprooted, if we are going to
enter into the things that God has for us, particularly in these
last days. Apostle Paul was a man who did not learn prima-
rily from his education in order to serve God. But a lot of us
thought that he was able to do what he did for God, because
he was highly educated. Apostle Paul emptied himself of
this worlds wisdom for the wisdom of God to flow into him
and he ministered from that. Hear what he says in 1Cor.
2:12-13: Now we have received, not the spirit of the
world but the spirit which is of God; that we might know

the things that are freely given to us of God. Which
things also we speak, not in the words which mans
wisdom teacheth but which the Holy Ghost teacheth;
comparing spiritual things with spiritual. (1Cor. 2:12-13)

Whoever you are, educated or not, God can make use of
you. But you need to let Him empty you first. When you are
walking by your reasoning, you are not walking with God,
and you are grieving the Holy Spirit. A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO
THINK THEY ARE BEING LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT ARE ACTUALLY
BEING LED BY THEIR MINDS. Their minds had been ever so
educated to the disadvantage of the spiritual man. Your
mind has become powerful by the things you fed it with while
little or nothing has been given to your spiritual man. That is
why most of the times the soulish realm is dominating the
spiritual.
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge
among you? Let him show out of a good conversation
his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have
bitter envying and strife in your heart, glory not and lie
not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from
above, but is earthly, sensual and devilish. (James 3:13-
15).

This is the manifestation and the source of most of the
sensual knowledge we have acquired; it is earthly, sensual
and devilish. I once read in a book the following statement
by its writer:
The development of science and mathematics is from
the Chaldeans and in turn Greece received them from Egypt,
and the pagan priests were in charge of teaching these
sciences because these sciences were used as part of
worship in their religious ceremonies.

Yet, some of you brag about your good knowledge of
these things without knowing their source. Do you now see
why you have to break cords? Ask a medical doctor to
believe God for healing; it is very rare to see one who truly
does. Or ask an accountant to trust God for finances and be
generous in giving you are asking for the impossible. Ask
an agricultural scientist to trust God for rain; he cannot do it
because he has been taught all the principles that have
robbed him of his faith. All these foundations are laid in us
and we have to empty ourselves of them. This is what the
Scripture means in demanding that we die to the flesh. Paul
said that he was crucified unto the world, and the world to
him.

I studied Hermeneutics in my degree program (now set
aside) when I was studying theology. But in 1989, while I
was attending a Christian conference, a preacher said that
the study of Hermeneutics is demonic. When he said that, I
just laughed and ignored his comment. But I later discover-
ed that Hermes was one of the gods that Greeks served, a
god of interpretation of knowledge. The study of Hermeneu-
tics in theology is a study of how to INTERPRETE the
Bible.

On this issue, I consulted a dictionary (Chambers
Twentieth Century Dictionary), which states: Hermes, the
herald of the Greek gods, patron of herdsmen, arts, elo-
quence, and thieves. In the light of these facts, I leave you
to make your own conclusions.

But one fact is clear; when we open our spirit to studying
such things, we are imbibing something poisonous into our
spiritual being. We all are allowing demonic forces and
personalities to tie us with cords to themselves. And you
can see how far our Bible College educators are taking us
away from God. That is why most ministers are ministering
death to their listeners instead of life. A lot of people are
defiled by the preachers, who minister to them. Instead of
having a flow with God, they are tied down as preys for the
enemy. You need to know all these things, so that you can
know how to run for your dear life.

Psalm 119:99-100 says: I have more understanding
than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my
meditation. I understand more than the ancients
because I keep thy precepts.

The ancients are the elders. This corroborates with what
I was saying. This is what the Lord is desiring to do for all of
us. I am not saying that you should not be educated, but you
must be so dead to your education, that you do not depend
on it. You must die to it so it does not come between you
and your relationship with God, or else, you will not be able
to enter into the depths of God, particularly in these last
days. The Lord Jesus is building a Church of fullness where
nothing of man comes in. Nothing of man will be acceptable.

CHAPTER SIX

Steps To Breaking
Generation Cords

Job 36:10 says: He openeth also their ear to
discipline (instruction) and commandeth that they return
from iniquity.
The Scripture above gives you the first two steps you
need to take to be loosed from cords.

Open ears that are ready for hearing instruction:

If you cry to the Lord to open the ears of your spiritual
man that you may hear His instruction, He will begin to show
you in various ways, the specific cords and their roots in your
life that you were not conscious of before.
Gods instruction will come in many ways, for example,
through the things you have read in a book like this, in
personal revelations, dreams, word of knowledge, etc. You
should watch closely the area of your dreams. My observa-
tion is that many people are only able to pick what is going
on in the spirit through dreams. A dream is the simplest way
of showing man some activities in the realm of the spirit, that
have to do with his past, present, or future while the activities
of his body and brain are suspended in the physical world
through sleep. Dreams come from three sources: God,
Satan and the flesh. When Christians receive dreams from
God, they are beneficial. They are given either to warn,
instruct, encourage or reveal the secret of Satan to the
person concerned.

For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man per-
ceiveth it not, In a dream, in a vision of the night, when
deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumbering upon the
bed: then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their
instruction. That he may withdraw man from his
purpose, and hide pride from man. He keepeth back his
soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the
sword. He is chastened also with pain upon his bed,
and the multitude of his bones with strong pain. So that
his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat. His
flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his
bones that were not seen stick out. Yea, his soul draw-

eth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers. If
there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one
among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him
from going down to the pit. I have found a ransom. His
flesh shall be fresher than a childs, he shall return to
the days of his youth: He shall pray unto God, and he
will be favourable unto him and he shall see his face
with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned and
perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his
life shall see the light. Lo, all these things worketh God
often times with man. To bring back his soul from the
pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living. (Job
33:14-30).
Dreams from Satan to either a Christian or pagan are
always given to mislead, endanger and destroy. Dreams
from the flesh come from carnal and lustful desires of man.
They are very deceptive, they are often the cause of many
disastrous decisions among many Christians (Ecc. 5:3). My
aim is not to write on dreams, I have only gone to this extent
to make my points very clear.

Seeing the Cord(s)

If, as a Christian, you are regularly dreaming of carrying
on any kind of activity with a past or present partner in sin, or
with any of your non-Christian dead relations, it is one of the
ways to show that you have a cord binding you to this
person and the sin or sins involved. Particularly, if you have
gone through deliverance ministration in the past.

Sometime ago, a lady came to see me and her complaint
was that she was constantly seeing a man who once pro-
posed marriage to her while she was in the Secondary
School. Her answer to the man then was yes. But after
her school years she went with another man, whom she
finally married. The first man was still on her mind, and they
were seeing each other with a firm commitment from her that
she would carry a baby for him in spite of her new situation. I
questioned the lady if the man ever had carnal knowledge of
her. Her response was an emphatic No. But her problem
was that after her conversion she had gone for deliverance
ministrations, but this man continued to show up in her
dreams regularly demanding that they have sexual relation-

ship. She was so frustrated with the whole thing until she
came to see me and by the grace of God I helped to show
her the way out.

Deep repentance, breaking the ungodly agreement
between her and the man came first, before asking God to
severe the cord binding her to the man. The sister saw me
and testified to her release and freedom, which she had
come to know since I spoke with her. Some will argue that
your born again experience is enough, you dont need any
deliverance, nor do you need any breaking of cords or of any
past agreements to live free in Christ. I sincerely pray that
such people will face the reality of their situations before it is
too late.
God knows the best way to communicate with you as his
child and as an individual. He will speak or show things to
you that will clear all your reasonable doubts as to whether
you are hearing from Him, or not. You need this God-given
instruction, without it your treatment of cords as presented in
this book may be presumptuous or a hit-and-miss approach.
You need to constantly lift your heart-cry to God to show you
how, when and where you are bound with cords, because a
generalized prayer and lazy approach will not do much for
you.

Repentance and Separation

The second aspect of the verse calls for repentance
...that they may return from their iniquity. You must
ask God to forgive you for the specific sin or sins you have
indulged in with your parents, or any other person, that is
serving as a legal ground for demonic spirit to bind you to
darkness. Repentance on behalf of others, who have affect-
ed your life wrongly is Scriptural and necessary in dealing
with things like these. The children of Israel did this in
Nehemiah 9:1-2. Now in the twenty and fourth day of
this month the children of Israel were assembled with
fasting and with sack clothes, and earth upon them and
the seed of Israel separated themselves from all
strangers, and stood and confessed their sin, and the
iniquities of their fathers.

Note that your repentance includes separation from the
strangers (sinners), who had caused you to sin against your
God. Repentance is not just an emotional or mental thing, it
is acknowledging what is sin and deliberately turning away
from it toward God.

Asking the Lord to break the Cords

The third step to take after thorough repentance of the
specific sins or action that the Lord had shown to be the root
cause of your bondage or cords, is to join with the Lord to
break the cords. As declared in Psalm 129:4: He hath cut
asunder the cords of the wicked.

Find the time and a place for an extended prayer period
for yourself. Conversational prayer is suggested. By this I
mean that you talk with the Lord with the warmth and fresh-
ness of personal everyday language, waiting and listening to
Him to speak back to you in return. The Lord will then be
able to show you areas of your life you may need to turn
over to Him, or dark spots in you that need purging. You
must be willing to judge yourself, repent and walk in the light
of whatever He is showing to you. This is the kind of prayer
attitude and atmosphere that prepares you to hear Gods
instruction, releasing inner strength to you by which you will
rise to exert spiritual pressure on the enemy to loose his hold
on you. As you do this, the Lord will fulfill in your life what
the apostle says in Acts 26:18, namely:
To open their (your) eyes and to turn them (you)
from darkness to light and from power of Satan unto
God, that they (you) may (continually) receive forgive-
ness of sins, and inheritance among them which are
sanctified by faith that is in Me.

You now need to plead with the Lord to cut asunder the
cords of the wicked one binding you. Your prayer may go
like this:
Father God, I thank you for showing me the cord of lust
in my life. It came into my life as a result of an illicit sexual
affair that took place between me and (name). I repent of
this sin, it is an abomination before You. I ask You to forgive
me and cleanse me by the blood of Jesus Christ, Your Son.
I break the cords now that bind me to this sin, (and the name
of the person involved in the sin with you should be mention-
ed here). Again, I denounce and renounce the demons and
their hold over me. I command them to depart from me. I re-
verse the curse(s) that are operating in my life as a result of
this sin because Jesus has been made a curse for me
according to Your Word. I ask that You seal all the door
ways that the demons have been using to invade my life.

You need not be married to this prayer formula. The
Holy Spirit should be given freedom to lead you in praying in

your own unique or peculiar way. You will observe that I
include reversing of curses in the prayer format. Why, you
may ask? Because every sin you commit brings a curse on
you. This is very important, curses associated with sins we
have committed must be reversed.

I also include sealing of doorways. Doorway is an
expression others have used to show that sins you have
committed open doors into your life, which allow the enemies
to journey in and out anytime they want to do so. These
doors must be closed and sealed with the blood of the Lord
Jesus Christ to prevent the enemies from having access to
wreck havoc in your spiritual and also physical life.

Proofs

Is there anything you should expect, feel or see to
convince you that the cords are broken after going through
all those steps above? Breaking cords may be accompanied
with manifestations, but drawing from my experiences and
those of others, manifestation of any kind is not necessary
and should not be expected. However, the change that will
be manifested in the quality of life in your spirit, relationship
with God and others will be a powerful evidence that God is
working in your life.

Personal Deliverance

Experience has shown that in breaking generation cords
other issues relating to deliverance are touched, we there-
fore encourage persons who have seen the need for the
breaking of cords in their lives to seek help from those who
can truly help them, those that they know well, that they are
sincerely walking with God and have seen the truth of break-
ing cords or deliverances, in general. I warn(!) that you do
not complicate further your problem by going to people who
are themselves in bondage to Satan and his demons!

Having received such help (from others), you can there-
after continue to minister to yourself. That is, breaking the
cords as the Holy Spirit shows them to you.

How long will it take you to be free-from cords?

This depends on how earnest and diligent you are in
taking the battle to the gate of the enemy. I cannot tell you
how long, but my answer is this: As long as God keeps

showing you the cords in your life as you walk with Him,
keep breaking them. It may take many months or years, but
the question is not how long, but how free you are.

CHAPTER SEVEN

Keeping Your Freedom
Through Separation

This chapter on Separation is so important that I included
it to show you how to keep yourself free from cords. To
break cords binding you is good, but to live free from them is
far better; and keeping yourself free, you must pursue it also
with all seriousness and determination.

The immediate blessings of breaking cords are:

1. Holiness Separation from the world unto God
2. Righteousness Living like Christ in the world
3. Union with God Entering and enjoying an
unbroken and intimate communion with God.

In Isaiah 51:1-2, the Scripture unfolds:
Hearken to me ye that follow after righteousness, ye
that seek the Lord, look unto the rock whence ye are
hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.
Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that
bare you: for I called him ALONE, (emphasis is mine) and
blessed him and increased him.

I believe that the primary goals of desiring to be free from
cords are basically these: Holiness, Righteousness and
Union with God. It is very important for you to see this and
set these as your goals for breaking cords... for I called
him ALONE . God does not call a group of people, He calls
a man not men; a woman not women. Gods calling is for an
individual.

When God calls a man, He will bless that man and then
increase him. But initially, God does not call him with any
other person. He does not call by saying: I am calling you
with so and so. God does not say: I am calling you and the
other group. God calls you as an individual. In other words,

there should be no unnecessary attachment. There should
be no looking over your shoulder to see, if anybody is follow-
ing you, or not. This is the kernel of Separation.
Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness,
ye that seek the Lord; Look unto the rock whence ye are
hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.
(Is. 51:1).

Let us look at the word Righteousness
What is righteousness? There is, what is called, legal or
imputed righteousness, which is God declaring that you are
righteous in Christ, because you appropriated the death and
resurrection of Jesus Christ, which He went through on your
behalf. This is not yet an experiential righteousness. You
should go on with God in order to experience the righteous-
ness of Christ you appropriated. Many people are shouting:
I am justified and I am the righteousness of God in Christ
Jesus. I have the righteousness of God. These are mere
words if you stop there.

It is like a man who bought a land, built a house on it and
somebody came and took it from him illegally. He went to
court and contested the illegality and got a favorable judg-
ment that the house should be returned to him. He had all
the legal papers that the house was his, but he went home
shouting and telling his friends, the house at number so and
so, on such and such street is mine . Yes, he was confess-
ing rightly but the other man, the illegal occupant was still
living in the house and enjoying the place. Though he had all
the legal papers, he needed to go and possess it. That is
what we are talking about when we talk of walking after
righteousness (those who are walking in and possessing
righteousness). Let us take the Scripture that shows us
what comes short of practical righteousness.
Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet,
and shew My people their transgression, and the house
of Jacob their sins. Yet they seek Me daily, and delight
to know My ways, as a nation that did righteousness
and forsook not the ordinance of their god: they ask of
Me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in ap-
proaching to God. Wherefore have we afflicted our soul,
and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of
your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.
(Isaiah 58:1-3)

God charged His servant, Cry aloud, spare not, lift up
your voice like a trumpet. That means, do not spare the

sins and the iniquities of the people, do not talk about it in
secret or quietly. Let them know what are their sins. They
have all the features you can see in any person, who is of
God and conclude that these are people going to heaven.

These people sought God everyday, they delighted to
know His Will. Looking at them, you would think that they
had the righteousness of God, but they did not. God went
further to say that they did not forsake His ordinances; they
were asking for His ordinances and took delight in approach-
ing Him. But He could not answer their prayers in spite of all
these seemingly righteous works. So, in verse 3, they also
queried God, Wherefore have we fasted... and thou
seest not ... ? These were Gods answers to them:

1. Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure
and exact all your labours. (vs. 3)
2. You had strife, debate, smiting each other with
the fist of wickedness, shouting on top of your voices
on each other (vs. 4)
3. There is putting forth of the finger (accusing each
other) and speaking vanity. (vs. 9)

The Lords answer to them continues in Isaiah 59:1-15:
Behold, the Lords hand is not shortened, that it
cannot save, neither His ear heavy that it cannot hear.
But your iniquities have separated between you and
your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that
He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood,
and your fingers with iniquity, your lips have spoken
lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. None
calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust
in vanity and speak lies; they conceive mischief and
bring forth iniquity. They hatch cockatrice eggs and
weave the spiders web; he that eateth of their eggs
dieth, and that, which is crushed breaketh out into a
viper. Their web shall not become garments, neither
shall they cover themselves with their works: their
works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in
their hands. Their feet run to evil, and they make haste
to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of
iniquity, - wasting and destruction are in their paths. The
way of peace they know not, and there is no judgment in
their goings: they have made them crooked paths; who-
soever goeth therein shall not know peace. Therefore is
judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us:

we wait for light, but behold obscurity, for brightness,
but we walk in darkness.
We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope
as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the
night we are in desolate places as dead men. We roar all
like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for
judgment. But there is none for salvation. But it is far
off from us. For our transgressions are multiplied
before Thee. And our sins testify against us: for our
transgressions are with us: and as for our iniquities, we
know them: In transgressing and lying against the
LORD, and departing away from our God. Speaking
oppression and revolt. Conceiving and uttering from
the heart words of falsehood. And judgment is turned
away backward. And justice standeth afar off for truth is
fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Yea, truth
faileth: and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a
prey, and the LORD saw it. And it displeased Him that
there was no judgment.

Imagine! All these horrible, sinful attitudes did not deter
them from carrying on all their religious observances! Are
Christians not doing exactly the same things today? What is
righteousness? Is it when we pray? Is it when we read the
Bible? Is it when we eat Holy Communion or go to church?
What is the righteousness that God is asking from us? In
order to understand this righteousness let us look at Isaiah
51:2 again:
Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah
that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him,
and increased him.

If you want to understand the righteousness that God is
talking about, then you must look at Abraham, the father of
faith. When did God call Abraham? God called Abraham in
Genesis Chapter 11. When did God declare him righteous?
He did it in Genesis Chapter 15, after he had walked with
Him for some years. The Scripture says, And he believed
in the Lord, and He counted it to him for righteousness.
(Genesis 15:6). So Abrahams righteousness was not only
based on objective faith, rather, it was subjective. It was an
experiential righteousness. In Isaiah 61:10, the Prophet
worshipped aloud:
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be
joyful in my GOD: for He hath clothed me with the
garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe
of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with

ornaments and as a bride adorneth herself with her
jewels.

The Prophet rejoiced over two things: First, the garment
of salvation, and then the robe of righteousness. The fact
that you are born-again does not mean that you have this
experiential righteousness. Well, you have the righteous-
ness of God, but that should be manifested as the experi-
ential righteousness. And then, everyone of us who is born-
again has been clothed with the garment of salvation. We
have been saved. But then, he went on to say He has
covered me with the robe of righteousness.

The garment of salvation is something you wear under,
according to this verse. The righteousness of God is some-
thing that you wear on top. I do not need to know the day
when you were saved because that is an inner garment, an
inner work. I do not need to know when or how it happened,
it was between you and God. The only way I can know
whether you are saved or not is whether you have the robe
of righteousness on. If you come to me and say I was born
again in December 1941, I do not care I was not there.
You made a confession of faith between you and God, and
you said youre saved. I do not know. But how am I going to
know, whether that experience you had in 1941 is a genuine
experience? I can only know by the out-working of the right-
eousness of God that I see on the outside. That is the robe.
This is the kind of righteousness we are talking about. The
Word says you that follow after righteousness look unto
Abraham your father.

In Genesis 12:1-5 we read:
Now the Lord had said unto Abram - get thee out of
thy country. And from thy kindred, and from thy fathers
house unto a land that I will shew thee. And I will make
of thee a great nation and I will bless thee. And make
thy name great and thou shall be a blessing: And I will
bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth
thee; and in thee shall all families of the earth be
blessed. So Abram departed as the Lord has spoken
unto him: and Lot went with him: and Abram was
seventy and five years old when he departed out of
Haran. And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his
brothers son and all their substance that they had
gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran;
and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan and
into the land of Canaan they came.

And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of
Haran his sons son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his
son Abrams wife; and they went forth with them from Ur
of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan and they
came to Haran and dwelt there. And the days of Terah
were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in
Haran. (Gen. 11:31-32)

When God called Abram from Ur Chaldees to go to the
land of Canaan alone with his wife, he left with his father and
with Lot according to Genesis 11:31. This hindered him from
getting into the land of Canaan. He, however, settled at
Haran with them and became a citizen there until his father
died. Then the Lord called him again: Now the LORD had
said unto Abram, get out of thy country, and from thy kind-
red, and from thy fathers house, unto a land that I will shew
thee. (Gen. 12:1)

In studying the subject of Separation, the life of Abraham
provides for us a good example of it and its relationship with
practical righteousness. Just as God called Abraham alone,
He is calling each of us as individuals. This lonely walk with
God is a vital key to walking after righteousness and being
free from Satans entanglements.

Things that Abraham was called to separate from are
the following:

1. From his Country. Abrahams call out of his country
has the same meaning and implications for you. God called
you out of all that constitutes your countrys attitudes,
mentality, or life style that are in opposition to His word. The
Bible says that our citizenship or CONVERSATION IS IN
HEAVEN; from whence also we look for the Savior, the
Lord Jesus Christ, (Phil. 3:20). Christians are to see them-
selves as strangers and pilgrims here on earth, which is a
message proclaimed loud and clear in 1Peter 2:11. Also:
These all died in faith, not having received the
promises, but having seen them afar off, and were
persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed
that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
(Hebrews 11:13) This is the kind of truth and living that sets
us free from the yoke and control of the spirits, that rule the
nations.

For example, one of the prevailing attitudes of the nation-
als of a country like Nigeria, as it affects Government laws

and regulations, is the way and manner in which Nigerians
obey eagerly any law when it is just announced. But after a
month or two, it all dies. Christians are not exempted. Is this
not the same way Christians treat the law of God? You hear
the Word of God at a retreat and for one month or two you
are burning with fire, but after a while you are back to square
one and you are looking forward to another retreat. This is
the kind of spirit that rules the Christians in this country. Your
character, attitude, actions and outlook that portray you as a
typical national of any country rather than a new man in
Christ must be purged, and you must be separated from
such.
God waits for the day you will disrobe yourself of your
strange masks and garments that are not fitting those, who
would make heaven their home. God is longing to create you
a new man in attitude and in disposition (i.e. Christ, Who is
neither Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, nor any ethnic grouping you
may belong to). The ease with which many born-again
Christians of today compromise their faith in order to indulge
in questionable or outright demonic practices and cultural
demands is baffling. They do it when it comes to marriage,
burial, naming ceremony, etc., and do it with the weak
excuse that it is their tradition. This shows that many are
ignorant that Satan takes advantage of such things as in-
roads into their lives.

I know quite a good number of Christians, who still go
home for new yam festivals and the like; Christians who
send money home for such things when they cannot go
themselves. Those, who allow village elders to pray for
them in the name of their family or village god! Traditional
burial that compels you, your wife or children to do unspeak-
able things, brings you into bondage. I have seen many
Christian marriages void of peace and Gods blessing as a
result of prayer made by family elders, pouring libation to
invoke the blessing on the couple from Mother Earth. Can
you imagine a Christian sending his wife to his hometown to
participate in rites, cooking and activities done in remem-
brance of a grand-parent, or a parent who died 10 years
before? If God is not calling you out of all these, from what
else is He calling you out? The reason many do not want to
follow God is because they want to be welcomed and
accepted by unbelieving relations or parents. Consider these
two Scriptures:
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I
am come not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come
to set a man at variance against his father, and the

daughter against her mother; and the daughter-in-law
against her mother-in-law. And a mans foes shall be
they of his own household. He that loveth father or
mother more than Me is not worthy of Me and he that
loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of
Me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after
Me, is not worthy of Me. He that findeth his life shall
lose it: and he that loseth his life for My sake shall find
it. (Matt. 10:34-39).

Hearken, O daughter, and consider and incline thine
ear: FORGET ALSO THINE OWN PEOPLE, AND THY FATHERS
HOUSE: So shall the King greatly desire thy beauty: for
He is thy Lord and worship thou Him. (Ps. 45:10-11).

Why is God calling you out of your country, tribe, and out
of everything that defiles? It is to produce in you a spiritual
beauty that will bring satisfaction to His heart.

2. From his Fathers house. Earlier in this book, the
chapter on Family Cords has shown various manifestations
of family cords and their implications. Abraham was to be se-
parated from his fathers house both physically and spirit-
ually. But we think separation is merely spiritual. Your birth
into your family bestows on you the physical, material as well
as spiritual inheritances of your family. You need to ask
yourself questions about your family. The history of your
family tree will be a good place to start. Was your family
background firmly or loosely involved in idolatry or false
religion? Do you have a particular pattern of sin or habits
notable in your family? Is there a re-current sickness? And
so on.
For everyone there is a spirit, or spirits, that rule your
generations. There are ungodly traditions that are very
prominent or important to your people. Family gods that your
fathers have served and may still be serving are part of the
things you must be completely separated from.

Some carry names from their families that reflect their
spiritual inheritances, such as Ogunbiyi, Nwagbara, Osunde-
le, etc. Spiritual inheritance behind such names cannot be
held on to, if you intend to enjoy fully the new inheritance
that God is offering you in Christ. It is neither Scriptural nor
is it enough to keep saying since I am born-again everything
is settled for me. People who speak like this are too spirit-
ually lazy to rise and demand their rights in Christ. There is a
need for you to be completely separated from such back-

ground in order to be able to walk with God and enjoy His
blessings.
Indeed, you do not need to change your name to be born
again, but you may need to change your name to fully
posses your inheritance in Christ!

2. From Egypt - the World. In Genesis 12:10 we read:
And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went
down into Egypt to sojourn there: for the famine was
grievous in the land.

In order to beat an unexpected famine in the land of
Canaan where God sent Abraham, he went to Egypt to
sojourn without asking God while the Scripture says:
Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that
take counsel, but not of Me; and that cover with a cover-
ing, but not of My Spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at
My mouth, to strengthen themselves in the strength of
Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! (Isa. 30:1-
2).
Egypt represents the world and its ways. Abraham went
into the world and attached himself to it; he became depen-
dent on it. He sought its help, and comfort. Needless to say,
he got the material wealth he sought for in Egypt, but his
walk with God suffered immeasurably. You remember how
he told a lie and by Gods rod of correction he was thrown
out of Egypt for it. Bible scholars said that by their calcul-
ation, God did not speak to Abraham for a space of 13 years
after he came back from Egypt. This does not mean he was
not under His providence, but that God did not tell him
anything specific, nor could Abraham lay hand on anything
for 13 years.

Attachment to the world will rob you of the greatest trans-
forming work God needs to do in your life, to make you
experientially righteous. Here is the truth about righteous-
ness in practicality. God Himself declared through Hosea
that Ephraim had mingled himself with people, Ephraim is a
cake not turned. (Hosea 7:8). Half-baked believers are the
results of mixing with the world. Righteousness is having
Gods nature imparted to you, but He cannot impart His
nature to you, if you are not maintaining a close walk with
Him. And you cannot be close to Him, if you are attached to
the world and its ways. Not being separated from the world
is number one hindrance to becoming like Him in His right-
eousness. The Bible says:

We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the
glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from
glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2Cor.
3:18).
Righteousness is not what you do. It is God putting His
nature in you and you in turn would thus discover that you
are becoming more like God in your attitude, character, way
of life and in your reasoning. It is an inner work that is
revealed outside of you.
You are not righteous because you do not miss any
activity in your church. You are not righteous because you
speak in tongues; nor are you righteous because you know
how to quote Scriptures. You are not righteous because you
go to a particular denomination. You are only righteous
because you are hearing and obeying God and He is impart-
ing His nature into you. That is what makes a person right-
eous. Many keep wicked sinners as friends and confidants
and they say they are holy and righteous. Does not the
Bible say clearly: Evil communication corrupts good
manners? (1Cor. 15:33).

Spiritual virgins are described as Those who follow
the lamb withersoever He goeth (Rev. 14:4). Whatever
does not allow you to fully follow Jesus as the Lord
wheresoever He is leading you, to that you are married. And
as long as you are married to something or someone other
than Jesus you are not a spiritual virgin. You could be
married to a desire to make it to the top, to your church, to
your house-project, or to your career or it could as well be
your friends that you are married to. Some Christians are not
sure they are getting what they desire in their churches, so
they joined social clubs of all shades. Yes, you could make
all the contacts you need to push you up the social ladder,
but your spiritual walk with the Lord would be sacrificed.

4. From Lot. And Lot also, which went with Abram
had flocks and herds, and tents. And the land was not
able to bear them, that they might dwell together for
their substance was great so that they could not dwell
together. And there was a strife between the herdsmen
of Abrams cattle and the herdsmen of Lots cattle: and
the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
And Abram said unto Lot. Let there be no strife, I pray
thee, between me and thee, and between my herdsmen
and thy herdsmen: for we be brethren, Is not the whole
land before thee? Separate thyself, I pray thee, from me,
if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right,

or if thou depart to the right hand then will go to the
left. (Gen. 13:5-9)

The next stage of separation in the life of Abraham was
his separation from Lot. Who was Lot? (Gen. 12:5). He was
his nephew. But what did Abraham call him? Abraham said,
we be brethren (Gen. 13:8). Why did he call Lot and him-
self brethren? It was because Lot had been following him in
his worship of Jehovah so, they were brethren. Abraham
was speaking more of their spiritual relationship than their
natural family ties. But Lot remained a materialistic and
worldly-minded person or believer. He did not follow Abra-
hams consecration. There are many points in the Scripture
that reveal Lots spiritual condition. Examples:

1. At no time God spoke to Lot directly even when his
life was in danger in Sodom. Abrahams knowledge of the
danger and his intercession was what saved him. Lot was
either too content with hearing second-hand information of
what God was saying through Abraham, or he was too busy
doing other things, or he was altogether too lazy to seek God
for himself.

2. Lot did not mind the strife between his herdsmen and
Abrahams herdsmen even though the strife was being no-
ticed by the Canaanites and the Perizzites, their neighbors,
and was already affecting his relationship with Abraham. It
was Abraham who called for separation to end the strife.

3. Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan... (Gen.
13:11), he picked the better portion (the watered area) and
left Abraham with dry land. He could not be bothered
whether Abraham could survive or not. He was selfish and
covetous

4. Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain. He abandoned
the land of Canaan altogether. Canaan was the land of
promise where they were sent. Lot was tired of living on the
promises of God. He wanted to be free from the constraints
and discipline of living within a godly environment and godly
people.

5. Lot pitched his tent toward Sodom (Gen. 13:12).
He started a gradual movement to Sodom turning his back
on God, the company and fellowship of a consecrated
believer who was influencing him for God. He preferred the
friendship and association of men of Sodom. See how the

Bible described the inhabitants of the city. But the men of
Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord
exceedingly. (Gen. 13:13)

6. Genesis 14:12 says And they took Lot, Abrams
brothers son who dwelt in Sodom... Lot had finally
become a citizen of Sodom. Instead of growing towards the
Lord, he was sliding back to the world, a place ready for the
rain of Gods judgment.

7. In Genesis 19:1, Lot was met sitting at the gate of
Sodom when angels visited, whereas we were told that
Abraham sat at the door of his tent when they visited him.
and Lot sat in the gate. To sit in the gate in the ancient
world was to sit among or as one of the city elders where
decisions affecting their cities were made. You remember
that Absalom sat at the gate to judge the Israelites (2Sam.
15:1-3). In Ruth 4:1-9, Boaz with ten elders or men went to
the gate of their city to decide the final rites of kinsmens
redemption to marry Ruth. In Proverbs 31:23 the husband of
the virtuous woman is known in the gates. This means her
husband is promoted to a position of authority among the
ruling elders of the city because of the life of the wife. And of
course, the Lord Jesus declared: I will build my Church
and the gates (powers, authorities) of hell shall not prevail
against it. (Matt. 16:18).
The decisions, judgments, counsels taken by the govern-
ment or council of hell will not prevail over the Church. By
the time God had made up His mind (after the plea of
Abraham) to judge the wicked men of Sodom, Lot had
acquired the status of an elder, a judge or, if you like, a chief
among these homosexual perverts. In our modern day
Christianity, the number of born again Christians picking up
chieftaincy titles of all shades from all sorts of places is on
the increase. They are our modern day Lots taking ungodly
honor in a world that is about to witness the wrath of God.

8. In Genesis 19:7-8, Lot had denied the faith to the
point of calling the homosexuals his brethren and lying to
them before the angels that he had two daughters who had
not known any man when indeed the two daughters were
married to men of Sodom. And said, I pray you, brethren
do not so wickedly. Behold now, I have two daughters
which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring
them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your
eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore
came they under the shadow of my roof. (Gen. 19:7-8).

9. In Genesis 19:14, his two sons-in-law mocked him
because they did not know what had suddenly come over
him that he was now speaking religiously, seeking to convert
them. They could not reconcile what he was now saying or
preaching with his approval, silence or compromise with their
way of life just before the angels came. But he seemed as
one that mocked unto his sons in laws.

10. Lot lingered (Gen. 19:16): ... while he lingered
being not excited leaving the city, the angel forced him out
because of Gods mercy. Can you imagine the state of Lots
heart? Even after he got out of Sodom reluctantly, he settled
again in one of the cities of the plain against the Lords
instruction to flee to the mountains. He did not move to the
mountains until the Lord had destroyed all the cities of the
plain. (Gen. 19:17-30). Lot was saved from the destruction
only through the intercession of Abraham and through Gods
manifold grace. (vs. 16,19 and 30)

Finally, Lot ended up in drunkenness and committed
incest, which resulted in pregnancies in his two daughters.
What a bad way to end it all up. In 2Peter 2:7,8, under the
Holy Spirit, Lot was referred to by Peter as just and
righteous. I have no problem with that, he was justified and
counted righteous because he believed in God of Abraham,
BUT he did not value his salvation like many others today.
He chose to be associated with people whose unlawful
deeds were affecting his soul wrongly. In 1Thess. 5:23
Apostle Paul prayed: And the very God of peace sanctify
you wholly: and I pray God your whole spirit and soul
and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ.
Was Lots soul made whole and blameless before God?
I would tremble to say so.

Lot does not represent the world, or your fathers house,
or your kindred, but Christians who place pursuit of material
wealth above following God. They are born again and they
speak in tongues. They are brethren and members of the
same church with you. Well, may I remind you that Abel and
Cain were born from the same womb. Jacob and Esau were
born of the same parents. You cannot be comfortable in the
company of people who are not going to follow God, if you
are determined to follow Him. Such a Christian may be your
brother, he may even be the man who led you to the Lord.
But the Lord says separate yourself from him, if he is not
going to allow you to go all the way with God.

You remember the Scripture in Isaiah 51:2: I called him
ALONE and I blessed him and I increased Him. I want
to ask you some questions: If nobody is or will be a conse-
crated Christian in your home and around you, would you
still be consecrated to Him? If nobody will follow God in self-
abandonment, will you still follow God with maximum sacri-
fice? I do ask such questions. I must. The more you desire
to walk closer with God, the more He will separate you from
people and Christians who have lost their close walk with
Him. You might say, God cannot separate Christians from
Christians.
Know this also, that in the last days perilous times
shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves,
covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, truce breakers,
false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those
that are good, traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of
pleasure more than lovers of God. Having a form of god-
liness but denying the power thereof: FROM SUCH TURN
AWAY. (2Tim. 3:1-5).

The Scripture says: from such turn away, separate your-
self, period. These are the people who say they are Christ-
ians, have an appearance of godliness, look like people who
have righteousness, pray every day, speak in tongues, have
all the forms, but there is no power to live a holy life. He is
not talking about power for miracle here. There are a lot of
people doing miracles by the power of Satan. Many preach-
ers are not using the power of God. Many miracles that are
happening today are not from the Spirit of God. Many are
from the spirit of antichrist. Ah, you do not believe that? The
Bible says that in the last days one of the things we should
watch for is false Christs. False Christs means false anoint-
ed ones. Christ means the Anointed One. The Bible
warning is: Beware of the false anointing or false anointed
ones. The Bible does not say beware of false Jesuses, but it
talks of false anointed ones. What does that mean? Beware
of people who will have anointing, but it is not from God.

The Scripture says in the book of Revelation that the
beast will cause fire to fall from heaven (Rev. 13:13). Who is
the beast? Is he not the antichrist? What fire? False fire,
imitating the real Holy Ghost fire. Many people speaking in
tongues today are not speaking by the Holy Ghost. If people
who ministered the Holy Spirit baptism to you requested you
to say after them blabababla and you complied and said
after them whatever they said, you need to check your
experience. You might just be repeating the same thing all

over again. If, since then, it is not fresh any time you speak,
then it is not of God. May God open our eyes. Apostle Paul
further said:
Now we command you, brethren in the name of our
Lord Jesus Christ that ye withdraw yourself from every
brother that walketh disorderly and not after the tradi-
tion... (2Thes. 3:6)
The word tradition here means teachings. The things
that God taught him (Paul) and he had handed over to them.
The instruction is clear. Separate yourself from anybody that
walks disorderly, even if he is a preacher, if he does not live
the life of Christ.

Let us take a look at another teaching of Paul on this
issue found in 1Cor. 5:1-8:
It is reported commonly that there is fornication
among you and such fornication as is not so much as
named among the Gentiles, that one should have his
fathers wife. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather
mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be
taken away from among you. For I verily as absent in
body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as
though I were present, concerning him that hath so
done this deed. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the
power of our Lord Jesus Christ, to deliver such an one
unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit
may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Your
glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven
leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old
leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleaven-
ed, for even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.
Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven,
neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but
with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

What is leaven? Remember when Jesus said to the dis-
ciples Beware of the leaven of Pharisees and the Sadu-
cees. (Matt.16:6) He was telling them to beware of the
doctrine or teaching of the Pharisees. Then understood
they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of
bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the
Saducees. (Matt. 16:12). The leaven of the Pharisees and
Saducees is the mixture of a little of the Word of God with
traditions of men, philosophy, and ideas of men, exalted and
given out as the truth of the Word of God. The Pharisees
had made the Word of God of none effect, by their traditions,

and their teachings were borne out of fear or respect for man
rather than for God.

For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold
the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups:
and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto
them, full well ye reject the commandment of God, that
ye may keep your own tradition. For Moses said,
Honour thy father and thy mother, and whoso curseth
father or mother, let him die the death: But ye say, if a
man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that
is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited
by me, he shall be free. And ye suffer him no more to do
ought for his father or his mother; Making the Word of
God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have
delivered: and many such like things do ye. (Mark 7:8-
13)
Paul Continues in 1Cor. 5:9-12:
I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with
fornicators. Yet not altogether with the fornicators of
this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with
idolaters, for then must ye needs go out of the world.
But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if
any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or
covetous, or an idolater , or a railer, or a drunkard, or an
extorsioner; with such an one not to eat. For what have
I to do to judge them also that are without? Do not ye
judge them that are within?

The Bible says we are to judge those that are within the
family of God. You have to judge them. The Bible is unmis-
takably talking about separation here and if you cannot see it
here I do not know where else you are going to see it. The
old leaven also means the old way of life, the nature of
Satan. The old creation that we are admonished to put off by
the Scripture was what the Corinthians were rejoicing in,
because right there in their midst, fornication had become a
common thing. They were proud of what they should have
been ashamed of. Sincerity and truth were thrown out of the
Church, malice and wickedness were enthroned.

Apostle Paul gave his judgment, if a man calls himself a
brother and he is a fornicator, and a covetous man (who is
an idol worshipper, that is what the Bible says in Eph.5:5);
and extortioner (meaning, one who uses force or threat to
obtain money from the people or profiteers); do not even
keep company and do not eat with such an one. What do

you eat with Christians? It is the Holy Communion, it is a
love feast. When we break bread with others, we are saying,
we are one with them. So you need to be careful whom you
eat it with. You cannot be breaking bread with the witches
and wizards and occultists and not be affected by them. No
wonder many have bad dreams and unsettled life. The
Scripture is clear on a little leaven leavening the whole lump.

As I conclude this chapter, I place before you for a fresh
consideration and meditation the following:

O YE CORINTHIANS, OUR MOUTH IS OPEN UNTO
YOU, OUR HEART IS ENLARGED, YE ARE NOT STRAIT-
ENED IN US, BUT YE ARE STRAITENED IN YOUR OWN
BOWELS. NOW FOR A RECOMPENCE IN THE SAME, (I
SPEAK AS UNTO MY CHILDREN) BE YE ALSO ENLARGED,
BE YE NOT UNEQUALLY YOKED TOGETHER WITH UN-
BELIEVERS: FOR WHAT FELLOWSHIP HATH RIGHT-
EOUSNESS WITH UNRIGHTEOUSNESS? AND WHAT
COMMUNION HATH LIGHT WITH DARKNESS? AND
WHAT CONCORD HATH CHRIST WITH BELIAL? OR
WHAT PART HATH THE TEMPLE OF GOD WITH IDOLS?
FOR YE ARE TEMPLE OF THE LIVING GOD; AS GOD
HATH SAID, I WILL DWELL AND WALK IN THEM; AND I
WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY
PEOPLE. WHEREFORE, COME OUT FROM AMONG
THEM AND BE YE SEPARATE, SAITH THE LORD, AND
TOUCH NOT THE UNCLEAN THINGS; AND I WILL
RECEIVE YOU. AND WILL BE A FATHER UNTO YOU,
AND YE SHALL BE MY SONS AND DAUGHTERS, SAITH
THE LORD ALMIGHTY (2Cor. 6:11-18)

The only way you can enjoy the Father-Son relationship
with God or be referred to by God as a friend, like He said of
Abraham, is hinged on SEPARATION. Yes, separation from
everything that has been tainted by Satan, sin and the world.
This is the way Abraham walked with God, and he was
changed. If you claim to know the God of Abraham, He has
not changed. What He demanded from Abraham, his friend,
He demands from all, who will walk in the steps of this father
of Faith.

After reading this book, it became clear in my spirit and
heart, that this work is desperately needed for all believers
irrespective of their religious denomination, character or any
other condition. Our Lord Jesus Christ is hereby giving us, as
it were, a further Grace, a loving warning and encouragement
to squarely face the spiritual realities that affect our life and
destiny. He furthermore enables us to make our own judg-
ments and decisions, to correct our steps and to deal wisely
with evil, sins and cords in our life, and thereby assure our
own preparedness for His Glorious and Joyful Coming as the
Bridegroom for His Bride. (Mt. 25:6; Mal. 3:2)
This work is addressed to all believers even though not
every one will receive what is important and vital for his/her
future and destiny. But let us give an opportunity to the Spirit
of God that even through this book He might achieve what He
planned in those, whom we may not even know, but He
knows them intimately.
Our Mission has been in close contact with the Mission in
Lagos for several years. We exchange the Light the Lord
graciously grants us and life experiences through which He
lovingly guides us (Mt. 25:16). We publish and disseminate
them and believe that the Lord, in His Wisdom and Almight-
iness, will perform the necessary work in the hearts and souls
of those that He foreknew and chose (Rom. 8:29,30), though
He may do it in His mysterious and gracious ways, which are
beyond our understanding. (Is. 55:8,9)
I, therefore, encourage every honest brother and sister to
read this book, even several times with an open Bible at hand
and to trust the Spirit of the Lord, Who desired that this book
be written at this crucial time. The Lord is able to work into us
all the truths and realities of this book and to successfully
finish the work that He began in us. (Phil. 1:6)
May the Lord bless every one who reads this book with
an open heart and with a willingness to trust Him. Amen.
