Infrared Linescan Camera & Visualisation Software
The Centurion linescan camera features advanced, state-of-the art
reflective optics. For maximum resolution and accuracy, aspheric,
diamond turned mirrors are used instead of the less efficient, energy
absorbing lenses in low cost linescanners. Self-contained heavy duty
power supply, brushless motor, powerful microprocessor electronics
and software are integrated to achieve the single solution for faster,
non-contact, linescan temperature measurement.
Designed to give reliability you can depend on in the harshest plant
environment, the Centurion TK30 model is specifically designed for
rotary kiln shell scanning. Centurion TK30 is a smart sensor with
powerful embedded microprocessor and internal temperature references
for long term accurate temperature measurement and self calibration.
With its 100 degree configurable field of view and 1120 linear
temperature measurements per scan at 30 Hz, the Centurion covers
every brick in every ring to ensure the coating and brick performance are
continually checked from light up to shut down.
Thermoteknix WinCem software is Client-Server based to ensure that
real-time scan and historical information are available to Operators
and Engineers wherever they may be within the control room or plant,
connected by Local Area Network. WinCem 3D Graphical displays put
live three dimensional views of the kiln shell and coating on display
from any Operator angle with simple easy to use controls. Historical
data tracks refractory and coating performance so that no hot spot will
be missed. Alarm outputs will trigger fan start/stop automatically and
a variety of analog and digital data outputs can be used for closed loop
or expert system control. Tyre Slip and WinBrix Refractory Management
software integrate seamlessly into the program for additional tracking,
performance analysis and control.
CENTURION Kiln Shell Linescan Camera
real time precision
Based on state-of-the-art aerospace optics, the
Centurion Kiln Shell Scanner combines signal
processing, data storage and communications in one
rugged integral unit.
Centurion Principle of Operation
The Centurion electro-mechanical scan unit
includes a diamond turned mirror assembly
which revolves on a precision engineered
central spindle at digitally controlled
speeds to scan the kiln shell field of view.
The Centurion large optical aperture gives
maximum thermal sensitivity at high
scanning speed. The energy beam from the
kiln shell is reflected onto the solid state
thermo-electrically cooled Mercury Cadmium
Telluride infrared detector. The digital signal
is connected to the PC in the control room by
conventional twisted pair, or fibre optic cable.
The resulting signal is equivalent to more
than 1,000 fixed pyrometers simultaneously
viewing the kiln.
Centurion Electro-Optical unit
The Centurion heavy duty, brushless DC
motor uses sealed-for-life, large diameter
bearings for long term reliability over many
years of continuous use. The balanced optical
assembly is mounted directly onto the motor shaft for minimum wear and consistent performance independent
of the typical coarse vibrations experienced within most cement plants. Two digitally controlled micro-blackbody
internal temperature references are scanned
every revolution to ensure constant temperature
measurement and calibrated accuracy.
Electronics
State-of-the-art embedded micro-processors
monitor and control all aspects of Centurion
operation. A 14-bit precision Analogue to Digital
Converter selectively digitises up to 1120 points
per scan. Data is dynamically acquired with the
Centurion and transferred to the PC in real time.
Two way data communication allows full control
of the Centurion from the PC and diagnostic
access to the scanner internal architecture for
on-line support or upgrading.
Environmental Protection
Centurion housing is designed to withstand the
harsh and challenging environment in the cement
plant. A two part clam shell design separates the
electronics and optical compartments in robust
double skinned aluminium castings. This allows
for optional air or water cooling for high ambient
temperatures or hot climates. An integral plenum chamber provides uniform air mixing and air purge for a dust
and maintenance free viewing window when connected to a cyclonic filtered, heavy duty air fan.

up and measure kiln locations accurately and quickly.
User configured Windows interface
WinCem 3D software gives the Operator a very flexible user interface.
Users can display real time temperature trending at any point or points
on the kiln shell to see live or historical evolution of hotspot or coating
formation.
Single click selection of display modes enable subtraction displays of
reference temperature charts, shift or day to day changes to display
effects of different kiln operating conditions at a glance. Plant wide
display of Alarm status or Tyre slip values keep engineers fully in the
picture at all times. With the Centurion and WinCem continual history
tracking system, every single measured point on the kiln is checked
on every revolution of the kiln to ensure you never miss a problem.
All User preferences and settings are saved automatically to ensure
Operator familiarity and ease of use.
3D Coating / Brick thickness display
WinCem
  3D software technology peels away
the kiln in layers to show what you really need to
see: Shell and refractory temperatures, brick wear
and coating thickness...
Thermoteknix coating thickness software provides
high resolution rendering of refractory thickness
and location of brick thinning or coating build-up.
Take a walk inside your kiln from the comfort of
your own desk!
Dynamic, multi-region trending
WinCem 3D graphical temperature trending is an integral feature of the user interface. Users can select spot,
line or area tools on the kiln shell, as well as trend temperatures from historical, live or combined historical and
live data. Multiple trends and preferred options are available to give real time on screen display of essential
temperature changes. Linear and exponential extrapolation enable
realistic predictions of hot spots or kiln shell outcome to be shown
so that Operators can immediately judge whether to continue kiln
operation or shut down.
VCR style historical playback
When operating modern high capacity kilns, faults in refractory
condition or coating can develop over long periods of time. WinCem
3D offers a unique VCR style of interface which allows the user to
simply turn back time and view a full screen dynamic display of kiln
surface temperature over time. The VCR control allows Operators to
display true temperature or difference temperature maps or surface
graphs on an hourly or daily basis to see exactly when coating changes
have occurred, perhaps related to fuel or condition changes. WinCem
3D gives you the ultimate in kiln visualisation resolution updated in
real time as your kiln rotates. WinCem Graphic 3D - the only system
with these capabilities and much more.
Dense Cement Plants and Buildings
For covered kilns or where pillars or obstacles obstruct the line of
sight between scanner and kiln, two or more Centurion scanners can
be connected to the WinCem software for elimination of shadows
and obstructions. Alternatively, if only a few objects obscure the line
of sight between scanner and kiln, fixed point pyrometers can be
placed between the object and the kiln and the signal fed directly
into WinCem for automatic integration into the Centurion scanned
data for unobscured view of the kiln. WinCem regional Alarms even
accommodate the different scanners or sensors automatically.
Thermoteknix patented software routines automatically combine
data from connected scanners or pyrometers to maintain real-time
displays with full geometric accuracy.
Worst Case temperature tracking
The WinCem history manager tracks the hottest temperatures
occurring at every point on the kiln shell from light up to shut down.
This data is kept in an industry standard SQL Server data base on the
WinCem or Plant Server computer for ease of access, integrity and
availability for automatic security back-up. Each history file can be
used for direct comparison of coating changes over time or between
any two history maps, such as between start up and the current shell
temperature map, or between current data and previous day or weeks
data. All shell temperatures can be displayed in 3D, 2D and Profile
formats to suit Operator preferences. The VCR-style history playback
control can be utilised to see the changing coating conditions from
hour to hour or shift to shift with full integration with tyre slip and
other data, throughout the campaign. All the factors affecting brick
life and coating formation are available at a glance.

kiln shell visualisation system
your future - proof
WinCem 3D gives you the ultimate in kiln
visualisation. High resolution updated in real time
as your kiln rotates. WinCem Graphic 3D - the only
system with these capabilities and much more.
WinCem Tyre Slip Monitoring (Live ring migration)
The WinCem Tyre Slip Monitoring accessory integrates directly into the WinCem software to provide rotation
by rotation tyre slip display. The differential rotational speed of each tyre is measured with great accuracy
with respect to the kiln rotational speed. Tyre slip can be displayed graphically or digitally with individual
alarms set for increasing or decreasing levels over pre-set limits. All tyre slip data is stored in conjunction with
temperature scan historic files and can be recalled simultaneously to show changes in shell temperature and
tyre slip over time. Kiln speed and tyre slip trending are also available
in the WinCem trend facility to help detect hotspots under tyres.
Daily Printouts
At the end of each day, or shift, WinCem can automatically produce
a hard copy report showing a worst case over the last 24 hours, the
history map for the last hour and the current live map. Essential data,
on your desk, every morning.
WinBrix Relining Chart
At the end of a campaign there are often kiln repairs to be done.
WinCem automatically generates work sheets detailing the location
of any areas in the kiln which have experienced a refractory hotspot
at any time during the previous campaign. A clear chart shows the
date and time any hotspot occurred, at any given ring or part, as well
as the refractory type and installation details. A Re-lining report can
be printed and given to contractors to enable them to identify exactly
where damaged lining occurred, saving hours of work inside the kiln.
Avoid re-starting a kiln only to find areas of previous damage that
have been overlooked due to their coating protection preventing
their discovery during kiln stoppage. The WinCem relining chart is an
essential tool to optimize repairs and minimize downtime, safe in the
knowledge that no previous problem has been over-looked.
