TEACHING EXPERIENCE

UNIVERSITY Graduate Teaching Assistant, Mallinson Institute for Science Education,
Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan (September 2013-Present)

Active Chemistry CHEM 2800
This is a three credit course is offered by the Mallinson Institute of Science Education
in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry for elementary education majors to
supply fundamental knowledge of chemical and physical science principles. This
course will be inquiry-based and we will examine matter and the changes it
undergoes. Experiments and activities will be used to introduce concepts including
the nature of scientific discovery, the structure of atoms and chemical compounds,
the relationships among the elements on the periodic table, chemical and physical
transformations, and conservation of matter.

Building on the Atom Theory & Chemistry: Life, Industry & Environment SCI 5800
These are two individual three credit online courses taught in e-Learning that are
offered by the Mallinson Institute for Science Education Masters program designed
for middle and high school teachers wishing to learn more chemistry content to use in
their classrooms with students

Organic Chemistry, Nursing Chemistry & General Chemistry (August 2009 May 2012)
It was my responsibility to work directly with students one-on-one in pre-laboratory,
laboratory and post-laboratory activities to teach the students new skills and improve
their knowledge of chemical concepts.

Nursing Chemistry Tutor (September 2011 May 2012)
Each week I held open office hours for students studying chemistry to fulfill a
requirement for their nursing degree to help the students with digesting course
content to prepare for homework assignments and exams.

PERSONAL General Chemistry Tutor (January 2010 present)
I tutored individual high school sophomores, juniors & seniors in their beginning
chemistry courses in Michigan & Indiana.
