Dairy Antibiotics Update
• BetaStar 1+1
– Study is complete and the publication pending.
Results are good for all drugs except Ceftiofur and
Cefalexin. We will be working to develop
suggested protocol and roll-out of this important
work.
– “Good solution to control the quality of the milk at
the farm level before pumping silos” per Wim
Reybroeck
– Study will be published in major international
journal by end of 2007

BetaStar US Status Report
• R & D has completed the analysis of
experiment 7 or the protocol and
requested FDA to approve
– Anticipate new study completion and data review
by FDA by Sept 15.
– Approval by NCIMS by October 15
– FDA Memorandum by December 1

Tetracycline Status Report
• R & D has developed new strategy with
initial favorable results.
• Able to capture tetracycline on a stick, in
the lab setting
• Initial product could be a single
tetracycline, followed by a combo strip.

Power on the AccuScan III


Reader.
Open the AccuScan III program.
(If the Reader does not open to this
screen, simply select the AccuScan
III program from the main menu
page.)

• Select the User. (User
names can be created or
removed through the
Settings feature.)
• Select the appropriate
test Category
• Then select the correct
Test Name.
• Proceed by selecting Run
Tests.

• The sample ID may be typed
by touching the line next to
Sample ID and then the
keyboard dot (abc). Type in
your sample ID and press
DONE. (A sample ID is not
necessary to advance).
• Auto Index automatically
advances by one after each
test (e.g., if your sample ID
is “Monday” the first test
will be Monday-1 and the
second will be Monday-2).

• Auto Save allows you to auto-
matically save and advance to
the next sample without any
data loss. If not checked the
user must manually save after
each test.
• The Test Plan is a feature on
the Data Manager software
which allows you to easily type
in sample ID’s, save and
Hotsync back to your
AccuScan III Reader.
The Auto print feature can be used when you
need a print-out with every test and do not have
access to a PC. The Printer for AccuScan III
must be purchased separately

Touch Proceed to continue to the


testing screen.
Once the actual test is complete
insert the test strip tests into the
appropriate cartridge face up and
sample end down.

• Now insert the cartridge
facing downward into the
reader.
• The reader takes
approximately 10 seconds
to record and interpret the
results. (Do not remove
the cartridge until results
are displayed)

Results are clearly displayed on the


screen,
Simply insert the next sample for an
automatic advance or touch New
Sample ID to enter a new sample
description or Main to return to the
main menu.

The Help menu simply provides


the contact information for
Neogen Corporation Corporate
Headquarters.

• The Settings menu offers
the option to change the
display, to add or delete
users, and to re-calibrate
the reader. (It is not
necessary to have the
display variance values
checked.)
• The Factory Settings is
used by Technical
Support for diagnostics
and trouble shooting and
is password protected.

The Results menu lists all


saved tests. All tests are saved
with the test type then sample
ID, date and time and result.
You can sort alphabetically or
by date (ascending or
descending).
To view individual test
information simply highlight
and touch View.
