Classification of Jurisdiction

1) Courts have different types of jurisdiction including general, special, original, appellate, exclusive, concurrent, delegated, territorial, and others. 2) Courts are also classified according to jurisdiction as courts of general jurisdiction, special/limited jurisdiction, original jurisdiction, appellate jurisdiction, superior courts, inferior courts, courts of record, constitutional courts, and statutory courts. 3) Jurisdiction, once acquired, continues until the case is finally terminated, except under certain exceptions such as when a subsequent law prohibits continued exercise of jurisdiction or the accused is deprived of constitutional rights.
