Polyethylene Terephthalate Laminate Patent

This patent describes a novel laminate material for food containers comprising paperboard bonded to at least one layer of amorphous polyethylene terephthalate. A method is provided for making the laminate by heating the paperboard surface to at least 285°F and extruding the polyethylene terephthalate layer onto the heated surface. A cooking method is also described involving forming a container from the laminate, placing food inside, and cooking it at temperatures up to about 400°F.
