Surah Infitar: Cosmic Events and Human Accountability

1) The surah describes scenes of cosmic upheaval with the sky breaking apart, stars falling and scattering, seas erupting, and graves being scattered. 2) It states that on the Day of Judgment, each person will recognize the deeds they put forth and kept back, and will only realize this after witnessing these cosmic events. 3) The surah questions what has deluded humanity concerning their generous Lord, who created, proportioned, and balanced them, reminding them that they will be held accountable for their denial of the Recompense. Noble angels closely record all that people do.

Previous Surah: Takwir- dominant negative things: Darkness and flame

Infitar:

1. When the sky breaks apart
Infitar fatara something you tear it in its length (not width)
The sky is being destroyed across its horizon
Parallel imagery of sheet of cloth with the sky

Allah is speaking to us based on human experience, not necessarily science.
Stay true to the language.

2. And when the stars (kawakib) fall, scattering (dispersing)
Intatharat disperse, scatterwhen something falls jerkingly (like marbles on a
sheet of paper thats ripped off from beneath them)

Kawkab: a large star, a brilliant star, size magnitude, fixtures, for navigation etc.
(Whilst najm highlights brilliance)

3. And when the seas are erupted (explode)
Theme here is movement
[surah sebelum, lautan api, darkness and flame in thematic]

Fujjirat Faajir does not stay still and put itself out there. Ripping and tearing
out

4. And when graves are scatted
Words for graves in the Quran:
kabr, that which is dug with the intent of burying someone
marqd (ruqd uncomfortable kind of sleep) when raised from the dead in
akhirah, the vision is so vicious that the,
ajnath (sign of it are gone)

buthirat bathara: kuca lana mende cari.

Allah gives the imagery of this to the graves, meaning its content will be rattled
and scattered like this.

5. A soul will know when it has put forth and kept back
put forth (qaddamat): ulama says, good deeds and bad deeds that you do
every act that we do, good or bad, is being sent.
kept back (akh kharat): what was left behind. Good things that we did not do
(and we will regret over this). Or the bad things that we have left behind (which
we will be happy to have left).

Other interpretation: connection with the previous surah. What you have done
first and what you have done later (taqdeem, takhir)
You will only realize this when all the above (1-4) has happened.
We are reminded of the akhirah.
Normally when we remind someone, its normally something of the past, but in
this case, it is something of the future

When you look at every ayat before it, you put this ayat after it.

1,5 2,5 3,5 4,5

6. O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,
Allah turns to each and every human being. Wahai sekalian manusia..

Insaan nasiah: one that forgets.
Uns- affection: makes us forget our real purpose

Word Rabb illustrates a relationship:
Eg, when you think of teacher : you think of a student

We human have taken the covenant with Allah, then what has deluded us from
doing what our Rabb willed?

Allah used Kareem Noble
Man becomes deluded. One will feel worse after this because Allah is Kareem,
and yet we do not take it as we should.

7. Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you?

BALANCE
Central message: The sense of balance. Sense of balance of the human being.
With this we should be able to find the truth.
Well fine-tuned.

8. In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
Rakkabak Tarkeeb connecting one to the next.

Allah is Rabb. Allah does not owe us anything. Whether we are in ease or in
calamity, He is still our Rabb.
He created us, proportioned us, and balanced us.

9. No! But you deny the Recompense
Takdzeeb - calling someone a false lier
Deen dayn alone
Daana give someone what you owe, completely
Giving someone precisely specific portion of what is owed.
(surah sebelum ni, what they lied about : mengatakan utusan Allah itu gila,
withhold perkara ghaib, that the Quran itu kata shaitaan)
So they should know the consequences of lying against the deen

10. And indeed, over you are keepers
Hafidhah: guard used when you try to prevent or guard something so that it
does not go to waste

In all the surah since anNaba, semua ada malaikat
Naba: Most comprehensive
Naziat
Abasa: Angels that record the revelation
Takwir: Ar Ruh Jibrail a.s. delivering revelation
Infitar: Angels that record on our actions. What we do when we receive
revelation

11. Noble (kiraaman) and recording (katibiin)
When we talk about guarding, there is a chance of corruption.
So, bila guard, you have to be noble. So there will be no corruption

Katibiin continuous tense. They are always writing. Never a moment missed.
All deeds sent forward or kept back

12. They know whatever you do
You cannot get around it. They know.
Tafaluun feel: any act

In other part of the Quran:
Wallahu khairun hafidha (Allah is the BETTER HAFIDH)

13. Most surely (inna), the righteous (abrar) are in bliss (naim)
Inna for sure.
Barara super plural (multitudes), sbb semua angels are righteous
Abrar plural, not all man are righteous

It doesnt say Jannah, but naimmeaning sekarang pun akan rasa dan dapat.
Like, right now, in form of guidance, ability to please Allah, that is nimah, naim
too.
Even pain that the righteous experience, is bliss. That which they go through and
pass.
And of course in the hereafter, it just extends.

Birr (righteousness)
Baarr literally means land closest word Bahr (ocean). Land is stable. Thus
righteousness is one that is stable.

14. And most surely the wicked are in burning fire
Fujar: erupt, those who are bent upon destruction

15. They shall enter it on the day of judgement
Enter upon it, trip into it, fall into it. They will cast themselves into it.
Yaslaw only used for casting into the fire.

16. And they shall by no means be absent from it
Ma stronger form of negation
Laysa (also negation, but ma is stronger)

ma and ba, strengthen the negation.

17. And what will make you realize what the day of judgement is?

18. Again, what will make you realize what the day of judgement is?

Repetition of question, intensify the horror of the one questioning
The second time its always tougher.
Allah said it twice.
Manifestation of anger, horror.
Give weight to something

thumma

19. The day on which no soul shall control anything for (another) soul; and
the command on that day shall be entirely Allahs
A summary of the previous surah, we will leave everyone and everything..
Even if we think we may have enough good deeds to save ourselves, we would
never have authority over anyone else for the decision is entirely of Allah

Psychology of Shirk
I dont want to face Allah by myself, I want to put someone before me.
I sin so much, that I need someone to come between me and Allah. Eg, put
his son to intercede for me. Etc.
Rooted in one does not want to change.
