Last week, I said to eht children lets draw the tallest person in
our centre on the big paper, then we can do a measurement
for all children. Then I asked the children, Who do you think
the tallest person in our centre might be? The children all
agreed that teacher Natasha is the tallest one. I said She is in
Japan, so we need someone in our centre. I asked who is the
next tallest person? Some children said Teacher Maysoon,
some said Teacher Anar. As teacher Maysoon is not available
so we decided to trace my body on the paper. After we finished
tracing my body we then startte to measure the childrens
height. They were talking about who is taller than who.

Yesterday at mat time, I talked about the human body and the
internal organs that a human has. We talked about each of the
internal organs and their role in our body. First in order to
stimulate childrens participation and interest I asked all the
children what do we have on our body, can you name your
own body parts? Most of the children told me that they have
hand, leg, eyes, ears, and nose When I asked children
what do we have inside our body? Kamila replied skeleton
and Aya said heart. All the other children were thinking hard
in their mind for an answer. while I talked about the human
body I told the children that Allah (SWA) made us such a
perfect body, so we should give thanks to Allah (SWA) for
giving us all healthy bodies. Then Aziza said Allah has super
power. I took this chance to explained children that Allah
(SWA) made Adam alaihissalam from the clay and Allah (SWA)
made his wife Eve from his rib. I showed them where is our rib
is by touching everyones rib.
Luckily we had teacher
Noora with us today.
Teacher Noora is a
medical professional, so
we are lucky to have her
here with us today. She
correctly told us where
our internal organs are
located in our body and their role. She kindly drew a scale
picture of the internal organs for us on a big piece of paper
which we drew around the outline of my body. This helped
children have mind a map of what the inside of their body
looked like.
Later in order to extend childrens learning about body, I gave
the children the chalks to trace each others body on the floor
outside. Children enjoyed very much of this activity. They were
laughing each others drawing after they completed their
drawing.

What learning do I think was happened here?
Kamila keen to learn about human body through couple of
activities; especially she likes to drew around her friend
Nusayba.
Pathways and possibilities
Children can draw a body shape on the paper then we can
encourage children to glue the picture of body part on the
paper in correct order.
